Veleno with another goal and assist last night, and McIsaac with 2 assists in his season debut (just coming back from shoulder injury).

I hate to say it, but I'm looking forward to Kronwall hanging them up. I'll never wish injury on a player, but it wouldn't be the worst thing if Kronner missed some (most) games this season. He's nowhere near the level of player he used to be. He had some atrocious giveaways last night (every night), in particular, on that second goal. I'm okay with Abdelkader on the team, as long as he plays a limited role (4th line / penalty kill). Unfortunately, I don't see that happening...

That happened one year (2016) since 1970... For a league that is roughly 80% American teams, that's pretty damn good. Also, f*** Canadian teams... Canadian players are still amongst the best in the world every single year.

I'm not sure if it's been just you saying this, or multiple people, but I've seen this phrase posted several times over the past few weeks... Before that, I've never seen it written or said that way... Who the f*** says "all the sudden"? What does this even mean? It's "all OF A sudden"... Just had to get that off my chest... But yeah, why all of a sudden? Who knows... He was way before my time (and I'm sure most (all?) here), but well deserved. Great career.

Because the honourary faceoff is taken by the two team captains. The Leafs don't currently have a captain, so it would be one of the alternate captains, and since Matthews isn't an alternate captain, it wouldn't make much sense for him to take it. It was between Tavares, Marleau and Rielly and Tavares was the right choice. As for Nylander, I think he will eventually be traded, like you said, for a defenseman. They have a ton of depth up front, and Kapanen has proven capable on that top line with Matthews. They need help on the back end, and Nylander is a pretty nice trade chip to get themselves a solid top 2/3 defenseman.

I usually hit up the HockeyTown Café for pregame beers / food. If you're going there though, you're going for the fan experience (get drunk and rowdy with fellow Wings fans), not the food. Not that the food is terrible, but I'm sure there are better spots around. Great time though and less than a 5 minute walk to the LCA. Enjoy the game. Hopefully the Wings can pull out a big W!

I voted Bernier, and I still think Bernier will have the better season of the three. But yeah, Howard has been solid once again. He made two or three unreal saves last night that he had no business making. Mrazek has been trash. I believe this season is his last chance to make a name for himself, and unless he turns it around quickly (I doubt he will), this may be his last season in the NHL...
