Although we were talking about Vancouver, I was kind of thinking about it from the Wings perspective. Maybe I shouldn't have, but I did because I have a much better idea where we're at than I do where Vancouver are in their rebuild. I'm not exactly sure how quick they want to turn things around. I know the Wings shouldn't be looking for any quick fixes, and Vancouver probably shouldn't be either. So no, I wouldn't trade the 6th (7th) overall pick straight up for Faulk. In the position we're in, I'd take the 18 year old (Bouchard) that can hopefully grow with the rest of the young core, into a top pair defenseman, over the 26 year old (Faulk), who will be a UFA in two years. I've always been a big Faulk fan and have advocated trading for him in the past. However, I don't think it's the right move to trade for a 26 year old, soon to be UFA. We're nowhere close to contending (neither are Vancouver), and by the time we are, Faulk would likely be in his 30's. I agree on Skinner. Definitely not. Hanifin was not brought up, but yes, I'd definitely trade the 6th or 7th overall pick for him. Prime age that can learn and grow with the young core. Again, we were not talking about Hanifin, we were talking about Faulk and Skinner. So no, I would not trade a 21 year old Boeser for a 26 year old Faulk or Skinner. Yes, I probably would trade him for a 21 year old Hanifin.

To start? I don't think Skinner or Faulk are worth the 7th overall pick alone, let alone adding to that. If you were who? Carolina? Absolutely. Vancouver? Hell No!

Craig Button is the one that has compared him to Murph. I've also heard several draft analysts compare him to Carlson. -

I would. Kid is going to be a f***ing stud. -
I can't imagine what the return on Skinner and Faulk would be... Canucks can have them. Give us Bean and Geekie... Seriously though, Carolina will be a team to be reckoned with in another year or two...

If they're smart (Bergevin isn't), they'll look to package a couple of those 2nd's to get another 1st... I'm still hoping Holland has a trade or two up his sleeve to improve our draft position (after 6), but I doubt he'll do much of anything... EDIT: wrong thread...

Official 2018 NHL Amateur Entry Draft Discussion Thread

I think Bouchard would be the best fit for Detroit, and the reason I believe so many "experts" see it that way is because Holland has said several times that you can't keep drafting small defensemen. For that reason, I'd be surprised if he went with Boqvist or Hughes, and I just think Dobson is in a tier below Bouchard. I'm with you though, I really hope we go with Bouchard. He's definitely the most NHL ready. He might not have quite the offensive ceiling as the two smaller guys, but his floor is higher in my opinion. He also has a more well rounded game, which is what you want in a top pair defender. I think he's a definite future top pair. The question is will he be a number one or number two... -
Yeah, that team will likely be Carolina, unless they opt to take Zadina for the chemistry with Necas. I doubt that happens, but if it does Montreal would take Svechnikov, and they have nothing I'd want to trade for, outside of maybe Drouin, and they're not trading him. Carolina has seemed like a great trade partner for the past couple years. They have one of the better young defensive corps in the league, and need depth on the wings. We have depth on the wings and desperately need to add some high end defensemen. Svechnikov would be a good fit in Carolina. Now that they're likely to draft his younger brother, maybe that would entice them to pull the trigger on a trade involving him...
-
Svechnikov definitely doesn't "suck", and he does have plenty of raw skill, but I don't think he'll ever be a top line winger. I still think he'll be a solid middle six winger though. I do agree that we should probably be shopping him. Ideally, we could package him for a high end defenseman around the same age or younger. Which is why I think Carolina / Bean would be a perfect trade partner / target...
-
What if only Svechnikov makes it as a middle six winger?
-
Yeah, I still think Bean is a future top pair defenseman. Maybe not a number one, but a very good number two. Then we take Bouchard with our 6th overall pick this year, who has number one potential, and all of a sudden you have a future top 4 of Bean - Bouchard, Cholowski - Hronek. A lot of potential there... I'd rather have Bean over Slavin, or any other defenseman in the Carolina organization (other than Hanifin, who isn't going anywhere), and he'd likely cost less as well. I'd probably rather keep Svechnikov over Athanasiou as well, but both are tradeable assets (neither should be off the table), and Svechnikov probably holds more value, being a couple years younger. Athanasiou and Saarijarvi wouldn't come close to getting us the 10th overall pick. Although, we are talking about Chiarelli, so maybe it would take a lot less than we think...

Lehigh Valley Phantoms beat the Charlotte Checkers 2-1 in the 5th overtime last night. 146:48 (over 2.5 hours). Alex Lyon got the win for the Phantoms, stopping 94 of 95 shots (0.989 save percentage)... That's insane! Too bad Charlotte couldn't have thrown 6 more shots on net, so he could have (maybe) hit the 100 save plateau...
-
Holland needs to be all over this. For a team as stacked as the Canes are on defense, they can afford to give up a prospect like Bean. Add to that, the fact that they're likely drafting Andrei Svechnikov, they would likely have some interest in his brother, Evgeny. Seems like a pretty good fit there. Svechnikov and one of our late first, early second round picks is what I'd offer for Bean.

You're probably right regarding Ras starting on the wing, which might not be a bad thing. We'll likely see a similar structure as we seen last season, with Zetterberg, Larkin, Nielsen, Glendening down the middle. However, I'd rather see Zetterberg on Nielsen's wing, having Larkin, Nielsen, Rasmussen, Turgeon down the middle...
-
What is your "strange feeling about Ras"? Good or bad? I have a much better feeling about him than I did on draft day, but still not sure if he'll end up better than Vilardi or Liljegren, who most people wanted, or in your case, Tippett... I don't think anyone expected the sort of breakout he had in this year's playoffs, especially after two good, not great regular seasons. Hopefully he continues on that trajectory and becomes the player we hoped he'd be, maybe even better...
-
It's still way too early to determine this draft to be a boom or bust. I'm still not convinced that Rasmussen was the best pick at 9, any more than I am that our other 10 picks are going to be busts. Hopefully Rasmussen can develop into a legit 2C, and one or two of our other picks pan out in some capacity. If this happens, it's a successful draft. Hopefully one of Lindstrom or Kotkansalo will become NHL defensemen, and one other mid to late rounder has a breakout. I'm still hopeful that Adams can become a middle 6 NHL winger. 2018 and '19 will be huge drafts for this organization. Hopefully Holland and co. can make some really good picks. Otherwise, this rebuild could last a lot longer than any of us Wings fans would like...

The bolded I agree with. I'm sure most would. However, I don't think anyone is saying they don't want Ekman-Larsson. Just that it's going to take far more than most would be willing to give up, for only one guaranteed year of the player. Yes, we have a glut of average wingers, but we can't get OEL in exchange for those average wingers...

IF Trouba doesn't want to re-sign in Winnipeg (which was one of the stipulations to my proposed trade), do you still think they'd get max value? They wouldn't. What if he demands a trade to Detroit? Where does that put his trade value? I'm not saying I think this will happen (I don't), but if it did, I don't think Athanasiou, plus a prospect and / or a pick is that far off what Winnipeg would accept. A year or two ago, I think this sort of trade could have been possible. Now, not so much, which is why I said "probably won't ever happen"... Unfortunately, Winnipeg are a power-house team now and Trouba is finally getting the ice time he deserves, so at this point in his career, I highly doubt he wants to go anywhere, let alone Detroit. I've also stated several times that I don't want to trade for any established top end defensemen, including Trouba, because the cost would be way more than I'd be willing to pay. If we want to acquire top end talent to solidify our back end, it should be through the draft, and / or trading for high end prospects. This all started because you threw out an outlandish trade proposal for Dougie Hamilton. I called you out on it, and you're trying to spin it as if you make fair deals for both sides, and I don't offer near enough. I admit that the cost would be huge (not as high as you think it would be), which is why I don't want to make such trades. You think it would be a good idea to make these trades even if it guts our entire organization. It's dumb.
-
Keep spewing the same old bulls***... Quote a single trade proposal that was anywhere close to what you're suggesting. You can't. Mikhail Sergachev for Larkin, Rasmussen, Cholowski, 6th overall pick. - Jonas Mahoron
-
We'd never be able to afford both. Besides, Ekman-Larsson will be a UFA as well next offseason. I wouldn't give up the assets it would take to trade for either for only one guaranteed season.
-
Yup, it was one of the worst articles of read in a while. I was surprised to see such low standards from TSN...
-
One of the few things I somewhat I agreed with in that article... Jensen was one of our better defenders last season. That's not a good thing...
-
You're making s*** up. I've never proposed a trade as bad as you're suggesting. Your outlook on this team SUCKS. Your knowledge of hockey in general SUCKS. And your trade proposals are MUCH worse... I'm going to leave it at that. I was warned not to get sucked in. Unfortunately I didn't listen...

Good one bud... The Detroit Red Wings organization for Josh Manson. I eat crayons and sniff glue. - Jonas Mahonas

Are you drunk? Your posts make no sense... Theodore for Jensen and a 5th. Vegas are in the Conference Finals. ......
