Larkin scores behind the net, from Mantha.
-
No, went in around the 10 minute mark. Mantha makes it 3-1...

Yeah, I have Kodi, and that's how I watch most Griffins games, but as far as I know, there isn't a TV or radio broadcast for tonight... Dumb as s***... As far as I know, no...

Wonder what the odds are for the 1st overall...
krsmith17 replied to AtlantaHotWings's topic in General
Here's a scenario... We finish just outside of the playoffs. We win the draft lottery despite having the worst odds of any team. We draft Rasmus Dahlin first overall. *Vegas* drafts Andrei Svechnikov second overall. Svech pulls a Lindros and refuses to play in Vegas. Demands a trade to Detroit. McPhee has to sell low and trades Svechnikov to Detroit for peanuts. Red Wings turn things around over night and win multiple Stanley Cups over the next 10 years. *wakes up*... -

Yeah, if we can get ourselves a 35-40 goal, 75-85 point producing winger, I'd be okay with that... The fact that he's Evgeny's brother would just add to the excitement. I'm sure the brothers would be thrilled to play on the same team as early as next season. Imagine Evgeny playing all season in Grand Rapids (I doubt he does), and then both of them make the team out of training camp next season... But like I said before, if we do get the number one pick, I think we'd have to take Dahlin. He looks to be the slightly better player, according to most scouts and analysts, he fills a much bigger need, and top end defensemen in general are just so much harder to acquire than top end wingers. Just give us two of them please... -

I agree to an extent. There's no question center and defense remain to be our two biggest areas of weakness, and wing is by far our biggest area of strength. However, let's just say we end up drafting 2nd overall, and Dahlin is off the board. Assuming not much changes between now and then, I'd take Svechnikov (who looks to be far better than any of Tkatchuk, Veleno, Hughes, Merkley, etc) without hesitation. I know it's not easy to trade for a top line center or top pair defenseman, but that's the route I'd go if young Svechnikov ends up falling in our lap. I still maintain that trading for a young prospect with potential could be the way to go. -
Game over. White comes from behind and wins 5-4. Lorito, from Frk and Holmstrom Sadowy, unassisted Elkins, from Cholowski and Sadowy Bertuzzi, unassisted Sulak, from Hicketts Tatar, from Jensen and Nyquist

End of 1st, Red 3 vs White 0 Daley, from Mantha and Helm Mantha, from Sulak and Rasmussen Larkin, from Russo and Mantha Mantha with a goal and two assists so far. Can't wait to watch him rip it up this season.

Only two remaining RFA's still without contracts and not attending camp, Athanasiou and Josh Anderson (CBJ), both of which are represented by the same agent, Darren Ferris. Apparently this guy has a reputation for playing hard ball with GM's. Anderson and his camp are not close to striking a deal with Columbus, but Athanasiou is getting close to a deal to stay in Detroit. Holland flew to Toronto on Saturday to meet with AA and Ferris, and his offer still stands at $1.9M x 2 years. I'm thinking he signs within the next couple days just north of that. Somewhere in the ballpark of $2M x 2 years.

Vegas played their first ever preseason game last night and routed Vancouver 9-4. Nosek scored a goal and added 2 assists, finishing the night a plus 4.

12:00 p.m. EST. It will be streamed live on MyFoxDetroit.com. I'm not sure if it's being broadcasted anywhere else, so if anyone else knows of another stream, let us know.

I was away for the weekend, so wasn't able to keep track of much of the action over the weekend. Thanks to those providing updates though. Greatly appreciated. I will be watching the Red and White game this afternoon though. Looking forward to it.

Daniel Cleary is back on the Red Wings as director of player development
krsmith17 replied to Jacksoni's topic in General
Awesome to see Cleary remaining with the team. Love that guy. Guy is warrior through and through. I was thinking he'd have some sort of role as a strength and conditioning coach or something, but player development could work as well. -
Can't wait to check it out. I'll be getting down for a game or two at some point this season, just not sure when yet.

How is that a little more than an opinion? It's just that. An opinion... You can disagree all you want, and that's fine by me. Saying I think a player should be given an opportunity to play with a certain player is not wrong, no matter how much you may disagree. I think Jensen and Ouellet should be ahead of Kronwall and Ericsson. You may disagree, but that doesn't mean my opinion is wrong. You think Nielsen should play above Larkin. I disagree. Doesn't mean your opinion is wrong. I "like" people's posts when they agree with me? Well no s***... I also "like" people's posts that I agree with. What a concept... I find you "annoying" most of the time. I just choose to ignore it when it's not directed at me. You are a know-it-all, which is why you always say other people's "opinions" are wrong. Yup, I was pro-Holland for a long time, and looking back on his career, I believe I had good reason to be. He's been making a lot of poor decisions lately "in my opinion", and I think he should be gone after this season. The rest of your post is too ridiculous to respond to... Anyway, yes I believe Bertuzzi should and will make the team out of camp.
-
Yeah, really hoping he fast tracks to the NHL. One season with Prince George, playoffs with Grand Rapids, and half season in GR before coming up full time mid next season. That would be great to see. Probably still 2+ years before he gets up full time though...

I'm admitting that Jurco didn't turn out to what I expected now because it's only recently that it was clear. It's hard to deem a 22 year old that was misused by an organization a "bust". It turns out, at 24 he is a bust. I still think that's in large part to the way he was utilized but whatever. I've never said that Jurco IS a top 6 winger, I either said he has the potential, or he will be, which again is an opinion. If you can't differentiate the difference between when someone is voicing an opinion and when they are stating fact, that's on you. Nielsen has always been a 2C. But if he's being slotted as a 3C, what is he in that situation? Stop bringing up the contract and trying to turn that around on me. You're the one that brought it up, saying it is too much to spend on a 3C, not me. Imagine that. Nielsen centering the 3rd line...

My opinion on Smith was that he would be a top 4 offensive defenseman. He is exactly that. He may not put up the offensive points that some hoped, but he still pushes offense, generating offensive opportunities. My opinion on Jurco was that he would be a top 6 winger. I was dead wrong on that. Neither of those projections made me a know-it-all. They were my opinions. I think Cholowski will be a top 4 defenseman, possibly even a top 2. I think Svechnikov will be a top 6 winger. Do either of those comments make me a know-it-all? My opinions have been wrong many times. I can admit that. I also thought Frk was going to be a top 6 winger one time. I still think he can be a solid 3rd line winger. He may never play another game in the NHL. Having an opinion does not make you a know-it-all. Telling people their opinions are wrong and yours is right is the definition of a know-it-all. You do that quite often.

How am I a "know-it-all keyboard GM"? Because I give opinions on what I believe would improve this team? So does every poster here, including yourself. If we can't discuss that, what is there to discuss? Someone says we should make a trade. That makes them a "know-it-all keyboard GM". Someone says a player should be scratched. That makes them a "know-it-all keyboard coach" I guess? Ken Holland and Jeff Blashill are professionals, therefore they never make mistakes. How dare anyone question their ability...
-
I'm not "defensive or pissy" at all, I just find know-it-alls, people that think they're never wrong very annoying. That's you in a nutshell. Your comment was "A $5.5 million 3C is just outstanding". How is that a "shot at Jeff Blashill"? It's about his contract. Who signed him to that contract?
-
Well why the hell did you bring up how much he's making then??? It has been reported that Nielsen could slot below Zetterberg and Larkin. This isn't me saying he will or he should, I'm just restating what I've read. But whatever, Khan has no idea... kickazz knows all...
