Will Tyler Bertuzzi Make the Team Out of Camp?

So if Zetterberg is our 1C and Larkin is our 2C, what does that make Nielsen? 3C? Are you saying Nielsen should remain our 2C just because he has always been a 2C? You're the one that brought up his contract, not me. Is it on Blashill that Nielsen is making (too much for too long) $5.25M x 5 more years? No, that's all on Holland. Or are you saying because of that contract he should be slotted as our 2C?

Wonder what the odds are for the 1st overall...

I hear ya, but it's not very often that a defenseman is regarded this high leading up to a draft. The last two I can remember that were considered "can't miss", total package (skill and size), were Ekblad in 2014 and Hedman in 2009. Dahlin is exactly what this team needs in my opinion.

Will Tyler Bertuzzi Make the Team Out of Camp?

I wouldn't do that trade. The last thing this team needs is more mediocre defensemen. Pouliot is basically another Ouellet. If we're trading Sheahan, it needs to be for a pick or (waiver exempt) prospect. I'd rather not trade him at all though because we'd be trading him at an all time low.

If he makes the team he will be in the lineup. That's a guarantee.

There what is? You're the one that brought up that $5.25M for a 3C is "outstanding". I'm assuming that was sarcastic? Well who signed that 3C to that $5.25M x 6 year contract?

Former Red Wing, Drew Miller gets PTO with Blackhawks

Great reply... "Do you even know what sport you follow?"... What does that have to do with anything. Like I said, stay classy man. That's all I have to say on the matter.

S***ty... Unfortunately, unless there are other injuries on this team when he's ready to come off LTIR, his time as a Red Wings may be over...

Will Tyler Bertuzzi Make the Team Out of Camp?

Not really, but $925K for a 2C is. Money is poorly used all over this lineup. $4.25M for a mediocre bottom pairing defenseman is probably the worst though... Give Ken Holland an extension ASAP, he's doing an admirable job...

I don't follow Malik, or Helene. Not a fan of either (to put it mildly). My go-to has and always will be Khan.

Wonder what the odds are for the 1st overall...

As much as I'd love to have a line with the Svechnikov bro's in the future, Dahlin looks to good to pass up (if we have the opportunity). An absolute stud, can't miss, elite, number one defenseman that we sorely need, being labeled as a cross between Hedman and Karlsson... Yes please! Maybe our (new?) GM can pull off some magic like Burkie did back in '99 and get us the top 2 picks (I know Burke got #2 and #3), and get both Dahlin and Svechnikov...

Will Tyler Bertuzzi Make the Team Out of Camp?

Yeah, I'd be okay with that top 4, but everything I've read has indicated that Ouellet will likely start as our number 7, so I highly doubt he will start on the top pair. I've also read that Larkin is likely to at least start the season as our 2C, leaving Nielsen as our 3C. And also that Glendening may be slotted on Sheahan's wing... But yeah, a lot can happen in training camp / preseason, so we shall see how it all plays out...

Will Tyler Bertuzzi Make the Team Out of Camp?

Yeah, those pairings are basically what I'd like to see (aside from the 3rd pair), not what I think we'll see. DeKeyser proved last season that he's better suiting in a 2nd pairing role, and although I'm not sure if Daley would be any better, to me it's worth a shot... Yeah, everything I've heard / read has indicated that Larkin will be given every opportunity to start at center, and that it's a toss-up between he and Nielsen as our 2nd / 3rd line center. I've heard a lot of rumblings on this potential trade, but I honestly doubt it happens. It wouldn't be the worst thing though if we gain a mid to high pick, and give us the cap space to get Athanasiou signed...

Will Tyler Bertuzzi Make the Team Out of Camp?

Yes. I doubt Athanasiou has much if any bearing on whether or not Bertuzzi makes the roster. My prediction is our lineup looking something like this with everyone healthy... Nyquist - Zetterberg - Mantha Tatar - Larkin - Abdelkader Helm - Nielsen - Athanasiou Bertuzzi - Sheahan - Glendening Witkowski Daley - Green DeKeyser - Jensen Kronwall - Ericsson Ouellet / Sproul

    DRW Training Camp 2017

Training Camp starts this weekend, with intersquad practices and scrimmages on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and the Red & White game Monday afternoon. Team Delvecchio Forwards: Justin Abdelkader, Tyler Bertuzzi, Luke Glendening, Darren Helm, Dylan Larkin, Anthony Mantha, Frans Nielsen, Gustav Nyquist, P-A Parenteau, Riley Sheahan, Ben Street, Tomas Tatar, Luke Witkowski, Henrik Zetterberg Defensemen: Dennis Cholowski, Trevor Daley, Danny DeKeyser, Jonathan Ericsson, Mike Green, Nick Jensen, Niklas Kronwall, Xavier Ouellet, Ryan Sproul Goaltenders: Jimmy Howard, Petr Mrazek Team Howe Forwards: David Booth, Colin Campbell, Corey Elkins, Turner Elson, Luke Esposito, Matt Ford, Martin Frk, Axel Holmstrom, Matt Lorito, Dylan Sadowy, Dominik Shine, Evgeny Svechnikov, Eric Tangradi, Dominic Turgeon Defensemen: Joe Hicketts, Filip Hronek, Brian Lashoff, Pat McCarron, Dylan McIlrath, Dan Renouf, Robbie Russo, Vili Saarijarvi Goaltenders: Jared Coreau, Matej Machovsky, Tom McCollum Team Lindsay Forwards: Mike Borkowski, Austen Brassard, Oliver Castleman, Connor Crisp, Zach Gallant, Brady Gilmour, Isaac Johnson, Sean Josling, Luke Kutkevicius, Zach Nastasiuk, Michael Rasmussen, Givani Smith, Lane Zablocki Defensemen: Marcus Crawford, Simon Denis, Evan Fiala, Cole Fraser, Jordan Sambrook, Libor Sulak, Kevin Tansey, Reilly Webb Goaltenders: Corbin Boes, Kaden Fulcher, Pat Nagle The rosters are divided up a little different this year. Usually the teams are pretty even, with each team having one or two lines from Detroit and Grand Rapids with junior players and invitees sprinkled in. This year it looks like Team Delvecchio is more or less what we'll see in Detroit on opening night, Team Howe is what we'll see in Grand Rapids, and Team Lindsay consists of players headed to Toledo, back to junior and invitees. It is interesting to see Parenteau and Cholowski on Team Delvecchio. It looks like Parenteau may have the edge over Frk and Svechnikov, which I don't hate. As for Cholowski, there's no way he makes the team, they just needed to fill the roster with a 9th defenseman. Still cool he got the nod over any of the other defensemen though.

Former Red Wing, Drew Miller gets PTO with Blackhawks

Ask kliq and Jonas, because like I said, I'm not the one that brought him up.

Former Red Wing, Drew Miller gets PTO with Blackhawks

I'm not the one that brought up Holland actually... kliq made a comment to Jonas, that didn't name Holland, but was referring to him indirectly. Then Jonas was the first to bring him up in his reply to kliq. Holland shouldn't be brought up in every thread, but it's to be expected that he and / or the Red Wings are mentioned in some way when talking about a former Red Wing.

Former Red Wing, Drew Miller gets PTO with Blackhawks

Why are you so fixated on this? Yes it does matter. Each player doesn't hold the same value to every team. Chicago may be looking for a veteran to sub in on the 4th line. We shouldn't be. But sure, "Stan Bowman would be an idiot if he signs Drew Miller". Will that stop this pointless debate? Probably not...

Former Red Wing, Drew Miller gets PTO with Blackhawks

It's pretty clear what I think of Miller as a NHL hockey player. So to answer the question, yes I think if any GM gives him a contract, it's a bad signing. Should they be fired for it? No. But in Holland's case, it would be just another of many bad moves over the past several seasons. If Holland has been doing well in other areas, and he made such a signing, it would be whatever, but that on top of everything else? He'd rightfully so, get s*** on by Wings fans, myself included.

Former Red Wing, Drew Miller gets PTO with Blackhawks

What are you talking about? Are you even reading what you're responding to? Here it is once again... It would be okay by me if Miller signs with Chicago. Why would that bother me or any other fan outside of Chicago? However, it would NOT be okay with most Hawks fans. I even said that I believe the Hawks have better options, just as we do, but again, why would anyone here get upset if Bowman signs a s***ty player? I couldn't give less a s*** about Stan Bowman, and what he does with his team, good or bad. I've never really given an opinion on him, much less given any indication that I think he "can do not wrong"...

Former Red Wing, Drew Miller gets PTO with Blackhawks

I don't think I need to state why another contract (from any team) would be good for Miller. As for Bowman (or another GM), if he sees Miller as viable option as a 12th / 13th forward, playing sparingly on the 4th line / penalty kill, good for him as well. I think the Hawks have better options, but what do I know... As for your "point"... The Wings should "get damned" if Miller receives another contract, because there is no spot on this team for him, hence the reason he wasn't offered another contract (thankfully). But if the "genius Bowman" signs him, why would anyone here care? I don't know about you, but I could care less what s***ty players other teams sign to league minimum contracts. Mark my words though, Hawks fans would b**** and complain just as much as us Wings fans would if Miller gets a contract with them. I don't think he will receive a contract from Chicago though, but again, if he does, good on him...

Athanasiou Signed 1 year $1.4 mil

Exactly. If Athanasiou had any interest in playing in the KHL, he would have signed a contract over there by now. He'll sign a contract with Detroit in the coming weeks. That I'm not concerned about, I just hope a deal gets worked out before training camp / preseason...
