I've seen a lot of mocks with us taking him. Definitely wouldn't be my first choice, but depending on who else is available, might not be the worst pick...
-
I don't think either are going to be anything more than a number 4/5, and I prefer Jensen's skating ability and offensive upside to Ouellet's safe, defensive game. I'd rather see Sproul protected over both, but we know that's not going to be the case. Watch them protect Kronwall, Green and DeKeyser...
-
According to Elliotte Friedman, Ouellet is among the players on the Red Wings unprotected list. I hope this means Jensen or Sproul is protected...
-
I can't speak for Dickie, but both in my opinion. I wouldn't pay close to the three pieces you mentioned, and Nugent-Hopkins would cost more than I'd be willing to pay.
-
So what do you base your "favorites" on? It's clearly not Nationality. Just stats? You don't even take into account the league they played in, so that's pointless. Did you ever see a single one of them play a game? Just curious?... Lol okay...
-
No surprise there...
-
I wouldn't be at all surprised if they end up with upwards of 30 picks.

Yup, virtually every pro scout has it wrong, but LeftWinger knows the truth... I guess the problem is, they all watch hundreds of games of all these kids with their "pro-Swedish" glasses on. Really, no Swede should come close to the first two rounds. F*** Swedes, they all suck! Just as LW, he knows... And yes, despite what evidence has proven over the years, a junior league is "far" superior to a pro men's league... You always spew s*** about how you can always admit where you're wrong. Sorry bud, but this is one of those times. Make the stand...

Who has been the Red Wings MVP in the last 25 years?

I'm hoping we trade one of Nyquist or Tatar for an upgrade on D, but if we're unable to trade one of them, I'd strongly consider trading one of Athanasiou or Svechnikov. Of course there's no reason one of the aforementioned, in a reasonable package couldn't bring back a top 4, so I'd go that route if possible. It also all depends on how we do in the draft this year (who's our 9th overall pick), and what other moves are made... -
Also Canadian Junior is far superior to Swedish Elite...

Suzuki and Yamamoto are both North American. It's a known fact that being born in NA automatically makes you 4-6" bigger (in more ways than one...), despite what any bio says...

Mantha and Larkin will be those guys for us in the next few years. Maybe not 90+ points, because scoring is down, but 70+ for both is definitely attainable. -
I love Smith and I'd love to have him back, but there's no way we should re-sign him unless other major moves are made (there won't be). Convince Vegas to take Ericsson in the expansion. Kronwall tells the team he's not healthy enough and goes on LTIR. Trade Ouellet in some sort of package. If all three of those things happened I'd love to re-sign Smith, but they won't so we won't. I get that you're probably being a little facetious with this comment, but there's zero chance we sign Hudler, as the last thing we need is another small left-shooting winger.

Everyone has players they want their team to draft. I do for sure, and I've listed the guys I want countless times. Difference is, you base your opinion on where the guy is from... Yup, the Ontario Hockey League is FAR superior to the Swedish Hockey League...

The fact that you'd prefer Hague over Liljegren says it all...
-
I read this last night and got the same impression. It sounds as if he's already found a new home. Curious to see where he ends up...
-
I hear ya, but Jagr is a lefty.
-
Yup, he's one of the guys I'm keeping an eye on in the mid rounds. I think he would be a great pick. Another I'd keep an eye on is Josh Brook.
-
He might have a better shot at making the NHL if he switched to goalie...

How about Ouellet, 2nd round pick and Nastasiuk for Galchenyuk?...
-
I'd trade Athansiou for Galchenyuk straight up, but that's not going to get it done. That's why I'd say no. I don't think I'd do Athanasiou, Saarijarvi and a 3rd (for example), which is around what I think it would cost us...
-
Yeah, seems like a lateral move to me. If we're looking to acquire a center, it needs to be using other assets, other than our top two (potential) future centers...

You want Yamamoto? The extremely small (5'8", 153 lbs) finesse winger? Does his size and style of play not matter because he's an American born player? You don't want Pettersson because he's a small finesse player, but he's 6" taller and 10-15 lbs. heavier... Would you want him if his name was Yamamsson from Sweden? For some reason I don't think so... Stop basing opinion on players by their birth certificate...
