At this point in Howard's career, he will be lucky to get a PTO. And maybe, if he looks good in camp (with another team) he might get a 1 year contract worth $1-2M. Markstrom on the other hand, will likely get a long term contract north of $6M. I just don't see the commonality between the two...

Where the f*** did Carter Hutton come from? The goaltender being discussed was Jacob Markstrom... A Festiva is a s*** box. A Yugo is a s*** box. Howard is a s*** box. Markstrom is not a s*** box. Therefore, bad analogy. And yes, Markstrom is worth MUCH more than twice the price over twice the term as Howard.
-
Umm... No. It's not... at all... That was a terrible analogy...
-
Umm probably because anyone is preferable to Jimmy... Did you see how awful he was last season? Worst goalie in the league, and it wasn't even close. 57th of 57 goalies in both save percentage (0.882) and goals against average (4.20). Sure, you could chalk it up to a down season, but at 36 years old, I highly doubt he's going to bounce back. It's clearly time to move on, and Markstrom is a great option, as long as the term is reasonable.

Puljujarvi for Svechnikov

Absolutely. But personally, I think Stutzle is the better player, and the more likely to become an NHL center, of the three. Which is why I'm hoping he falls.
-
I'm all for signing Markstrom, at the right price, and more specifically, right term (under 4 years). We need to upgrade in goal, and Markstrom definitely does that. I just don't want to sign him at $6M+ for 6-7 years... The bold, I completely agree with, which is why I would never consider Askarov (or any goaltender) with a top 10 pick, let alone 4th overall... Which is when you see dumb GM's make dumb decisions. Also, there are still some questions of whether or not Stutzle is a true center. I think he is, but if a team has concerns there, maybe he falls.

4 - Tim Stutzle (C) 32 - Noel Gunler (RW) 45 - William Wallinder (LD) 55 - Jan Mysak (LW) 62 - Jean-Luc Foudy (C) 64 - Yan Kuznetsov (LD)

I don't think Zadina will hit 30 goals before Mantha, but I do think Zadina will hit 30 goals at a younger age than Mantha. Mantha will be 26 the first time he hits 30 goals (2020-21). Zadina will be 22 the first time he hits 30 goals (2021-22). He will come close this coming season, and a couple jackasses will still call him a bust...

IF the talent between two players is close, sure, position should be considered, but so should a lot of other factors as well. Hockey IQ, compete level, handedness, etc. are all just as important as position in my opinion. Especially when you consider, the only real lock to stay at center at the NHL level is Byfield. We've all heard questions of whether or not each of Stutzle, Rossi, Perfetti will be centers or wingers in the NHL.

I'd also prefer Raymond over Perfetti, but would be okay with him as well. Stutzle, Raymond, Rossi / Perfetti, Drysdale, Holtz, in that order for me. Anyone else and I'm varying degrees of disappointed... Best player available, and in my opinion, that's Raymond (outside of the top 3).
-
People think the top three (or whatever number) are solidified every year. Someone almost always falls. I don't think this year will be any different. Stutzle will be available at 4. The question is, does Yzerman take him at 4?
-
Still possible that LA take Drysdale at 2, and Stutzle drops to 4. If not I'd be okay with Rossi, but would prefer Raymond.
-
This would be terrible. Stutzle and Markstrom at $6M x 4 years.
-
Yup, draft on the 6th and 7th, and free agency begins on the 9th... Only a couple more weeks of nothing to talk about... Then this place may implode, depending on who we draft / sign...
-
You are indeed the same half-wit that said that Zadina is be a bust. Therefore anything you say is basically retarded. Including your take on Larkin.
-
You're the f***ing joke guy...
-
Yup, and just turned 24. He's only going to get better. I think he'll be in the top 15-20 center conversation in the next few seasons.

Pronman just released his 2014 NHL re-draft. https://theathletic.com/1584416/2020/02/06/pronman-re-drafting-the-nhls-class-of-2014/?amp#click=https://t.co/dCFPe2uHWf Larkin came in at 4th overall, behind Draisaitl, Patrnak, and Point... Dylan Larkin, C Then: Larkin was a tough player to evaluate in his draft season. He was the USNTDP’s No. 2 center. Its top center was Jack Eichel, who had first-round picks Sonny Milano and Alex Tuch on his wings. Larkin opened the U18 worlds playing between Anders Bjork and Ryan Hitchcock. I knew plenty of scouts who loved Larkin because of his great speed, compete level and how he drove offense without elite linemates. I had questions on the skill and offensive upside. Now: Larkin has emerged as a true No. 1 center, logging huge minutes for the Red Wings the past few years. The physical tools he always had are still apparent, but his skill and particularly his offensive IQ were better than I thought, and it resulted in a top offensive performer even though he’s having a bit of a down season in 2019-20. Fabbri came in at 27th overall.

6x6 is a bit rich for me, for a soon to be 31 year old goaltender. I'm sure there'll be better / younger / cheaper options in the next 3-4 years.
-
I'm fine with throwing cash at him, as long as the term is low (2-3 years)...
-
Same. I like Markstrom. I'm not sure I like him much at $6M. I definitely won't like him at $6M, long term. 2-3 years, sure. Anything longer, no thanks...

That's the dream... And then Yzerman passes on him too... That's the nightmare...
