LOL I know there's no way you're that naive...
-
Could Howard bounce back? Sure, I guess. Stranger things have happened. Is it likely? I wouldn't say so... Or... maybe, just maybe, Yzerman and the Red Wings have moved on from Jimmy... That's how low he's sunk...
-
Psst... Jimmy proved last season that he can't play anymore... It's a shame, but that's the sad reality.
-
Sure I can. Byfield is one of the most gifted, smartest, and hard working players in the league. There, I said it, and have no regrets. There's a reason we'll have a chance at Rossi at 4 (and probably still pass on him), while Byfield goes top 2-3. Hint: it's not because you're smarter than every scout and general manager...
-
Ok. I disagree with your assessment of Stutzle. I still don't see the comparison at all, and I think he will absolutely be a needle mover. One of the most dynamic, creative players in this draft.
-
Bad news...
-
Expected by everyone except @ChristopherReevesLegs...
-
I don't see any reason to believe Stutzle won't develop into a quality NHL center. I think he could be the Elias Pettersson to come out of this draft. Handzus may be the most obscure player comparison I've heard of Stutzle...

AKA bad take... Byfield is an absolute beast. He's one of the youngest players in this draft class (just turned 18 a month ago). Rossi, on the other hand, is one of the oldest players in this draft class (will turn 19 in three days). A year is a huge difference at the age of 17/18. Byfield put up 82 points in 45 games (1.822 points per game) this season. At the same age, Rossi put up 65 points in 53 games (1.226 points per game) last season. He exploded this past season for 120 points in 56 games (2.143 points per game), and I'd expect the same sort of explosion from Byfield next season, at the same age. Rossi may be closer to NHL ready, but I'd bet on Byfield being the better player long-term. Don't mistake any of this as a knock against Rossi, because it's not at all. Rossi is a great prospect, and I'd be happy to get him at 4th overall (not my first choice), but if Byfield somehow drops to 4, he's the easy pick over Rossi or anyone else available there.

Regular season has started for these leagues. Hronek, Johansson and Berggren, all with a goal and an assist in their first game.

Other than the players that the Red Wings have loaned to Europe, there are also a few others that have been, and will continue to play in Europe this coming season, regardless what happens with the NHL... Jonatan Berggren - Skelleftia AIK (SHL) Albert Johansson - Farjestad BK (SHL) I expect big things from both of these players this season... EDIT: How can I forget about this guy... Elmer Soderblom - Frolunda HC (SHL)

We wouldn't be interested in Eriksson. It would be a move to gain extra assets. Although, I do think he would be an upgrade over a few players in our bottom six... He's getting paid way too much for the next two years, but we can afford it. Vancouver, not so much. That could also be an option. If he plays reasonably well and we retain half of the cap hit, we might be able to get a mid round pick... maybe... I'd either want Podkolzin (not going to happen), or a 2021 1st round pick, plus a mid level prospect. I personally wouldn't have much interest in Jett Woo. Our one position of strength is right-defense. If we're acquiring a prospect, I'd prefer a forward or left defenseman.

There's been talk about Chara possibly coming to Detroit. I doubt it happens, but I'd rather Chara on a one year deal at around $2M, than Pietrangelo one a seven year deal at close on $10M... No, 31 isn't too old, but for a team that's at least another few years away, I don't think it's a good fit. I'd rather weaponize all that cap space to take on a couple bad contracts / acquire assets. Pietrangelo will definitely be worth the gamble for a lot of teams. I just don't think Detroit is one of them. I also highly doubt he has any desire to play in Detroit...
-
I wouldn't hate it, but not the type of move I'd be looking to make at this point in the rebuild.
-
Adding a 2020 1st round pick would obviously be preferable over a 2021 1st round pick, but why do you have "no interest" in the latter?
-
Soon-to-be 31 year old, looking huge dollars, long term. No thanks! And that's hard for me to say, since Pietrangelo has been one of my favorite non Red Wings for the past 10 years...

Please not Toronto. Anywhere but Toronto...

Get it done Yzerman!

They also don't have a massive power-forward like Mantha... I don't think the Habs should make that deal, but much like your 16th overall, Caufield, other prospect, 16th overall, Romanov would be my ask.
-
They probably do and should regret that trade, but as I stated above, this is a very different trade proposal. Mantha is every Habs fan's (and probably management's) wet dream. Romanov is a very good prospect, but he's far from a can't miss, top pair defensive prospect. If they want Mantha, it starts with Romanov, and they add from there. If the Blues are looking to offload salary, I would think they would trade one of their bad contracts. To move multiple bad contracts in one trade, it would cost way too much. I'd be asking for Robert Thomas or multiple 1st's. Bokk was traded to Carolina in the Justin Faulk trade.
-
Why not? Sergachev was a better prospect than Romanov, and Mantha is a better, more established player than Drouin. They're not going to trade Romanov easily, but I doubt he's untouchable, and a player like Mantha, should be more than enough to get it done. Montreal would have to add. This I agree with. You think Romanov is untouchable, but 16th overall plus caufield and another prospect is fair value? Domi wouldn't be my target either. I'd rather a pick or prospect.
-
This is pretty much where I'm at as well. I wouldn't be disappointed if we picked Perfetti, but I would definitely be a little nervous. He may be the biggest boom or bust in this entire draft, and we can't afford a player to bust at 4th overall. There are probably three or four guys I'd pick ahead of him at this point. I do think his lack of skating ability is being vastly overstated, it's a bit choppy, but not slow by any means. However, I do value skating ability as high, or higher than any physical attribute in the game of hockey, so if Yzerman does pick him, he better be damn sure it isn't going to hinder him at all at the next level.
-
It's already been discussed by a few people here. It's probably fair value for Mantha, but a bad trade for a rebuilding team like the Red Wings. I agree, we would want much younger piece(s) / better pick(s) in any potential Mantha trade. If Montreal, a divisional rival, want their hometown stud, they're not getting him for "market value", they're going to have to significantly overpay. It would start with 16th overall and / or Alexander Romanov for me.

You should actually read posts before replying... I didn't actually say that you said that did I? Hence the use of the word "might"...
