I'm not sure if it's good or bad that all these bottom pairing defensemen are getting bought out. I definitely don't want any of these guys, I just hope Kenny feels the same way and his priority remains with one of the big name guys. We desperately need a right handed defenseman so for me I want Niskanen and if that doesn't pan out I want Gilbert, then Boyle. All these defensemen being added to this years UFA class can be a good thing, lowering the asking price for the top guys a little. However, it could also be a bad thing, because for every team buying out one of these players, there is a new team added to the list that need a defenseman...

Nope. I think they will continue to say, and convince some of the naive fans that he will be given every opportunity to make the team out of camp. But I still don't think he makes it. And I think the best thing for his development would be a full year down in Grand Rapid a, with a possibility of a few call-ups. Then he will get a real chance to make it in 2015-16. Just my opinion.

I actually really like the color scheme. Too many teams have blue and / or red as their team colors. I like the orange because it's different. I love the oilers jerseys with the bright blue and orange. In saying that, purple doesn't belong in the NHL. I hated those old Kings jerseys...

I wouldn't mind signing two guys like Niskanen and Gilbert but I'd also like to keep a spot open for one of our young guys (Ouellet, Sproul, Marchenko or Backman). Alfredsson would definitely take around 2M, especially if we looked like a team "going for it", with two or three big off season signings.

Taking the wait and see approach with Alfredsson can be nothing but positive for us in my opinion. This way we can still go out and try to sign other UFA's while Alfie determines whether or not his body can handle the grind of another full season. I would be more than happy to have Alfie back for another season at around 2 million, and assuming we don't go out and sign a boat load of players, we should have no problem re-uping Alfie for another season. I'm ok with Jurco starting the season in Grand Rapids because we all know within the first few weeks he will be up due to the inevitable injuries that will occur. Wings_Toledo - I'm just curious what you and others think our RFA's will get on their new contracts because I believe we have more than enough to sign all of our RFA's, and a top UFA (Niskanen) as well as have plenty of room left to sign Alfredsson. I can see DeKeyser getting around the 1.5M range, Tatar getting around the same and Sheahan around 1M.

So how exactly did you get two of Ottawa's best forwards? You traded Tatar, Helm, a couple prospects and draft picks? Not going to do it. Also, there is no way that lineup would be cap compliant... Unless you also traded away Howard, Kronwall and Ericsson and signed scrubs...

Yes, to me it would be very shocking. No player is worth that package in my opinion. The reason he hasn't been moved is because Phoenix (Arizona) do not necessarily want to trade him. Why would they? But like I said, a package of Mantha and one of Nyquist, Tatar OR Jurco along with our first round pick would be too steep for me and I think would be for Kenny as well. THAT is why he hasn't been traded... in my opinion.

@Euro_Twins, I usually agree with a lot you have to say on here, and I know you're a well respected member and all but I don't know if I really buy into your "non quotable source". And for the record, I'm not saying you're making it up, I just think the truth may have been stretched somewhere along the way, whether it was you or your source... Anyway, as much as I want us to sign Niskanen, I just don't believe that we are all that close to getting him. I definitely don't believe we are in the mix for ALL of Niskanen and Boyle or Myers and Iginla and Alfredsson... And I do believe that Yandle would cost us a lot but there is no way the Coyotes are asking for that package. Maybe a package of Nyquist, Tatar OR Jurco and Mantha and our 2015 first. I would still say no to that, but to say they're asking for ALL of those pieces is just ridiculous. Like marcaractac said, Weber isn't worth that package, let alone Yandle...

I have high hopes for Larkin, Turgeon and Kadeykin. Another 7th round steal.

Overall I'm happy with this years draft, just by the initial scouting reports and bios of these guys. I do wish we had taken a couple right handed shooters, but it is what it is.. I hope a few of them turn out to be steals in the later rounds.

I like Gorges, shot blocking machine, but shouldn't be at the top of our list. We need a puck moving, right handed defenseman. Gorges is neither...

Gunnarsson is exactly what we don't need. In my opinion, Polak would have been more of a welcomed addition than Gunnarsson. Gunnarsson might be a SLIGHT upgrade to Kindl... doubt it though...

I'm a huge supporter of Holland, and unlike most people on here, I can see the big picture of what he's trying to do, and the direction he is going with this team. But why can't we trade some of our spare parts for some draft picks like some other teams are doing? Surely SOME team would take Joakim Andersson or Landon Ferraro for a 5th-7th round pick, or Kindl for a prospect and / or a pick...
