    2020 Offseason

Yeah, I seen what you dumb-dumbs were saying... Mantha is not being traded, unless it's a massive return. Domi isn't close. Veleno isn't being traded either. He's our future 2C.

    2020 Offseason

We already have Phillip Danault. His name is Joe Veleno.

    2020 Offseason

That's why Mantha for Romanov, plus, could work... I think Mantha is better than Drouin, and I'm not sure Romanov will be as good as Sergachev, but depending on what else is included, it could be worth considering... Point never should have lasted until the 2nd round, let alone the 3rd. He was dominating the WHL for three plus seasons, but he was undersized, so teams were wary... I think most teams have learned their lesson on that, and even in the last 5 years, the league has changed a lot, benefiting the small, skilled players.

You got me. I very much care about the future of the Detroit Red Wings...

As opposed to your sound argument of "they project to be much more valuable, because I said so"... He's not "already better". He's projected to be better, aka higher ceiling...

    2019-20 Prospects Thread

Bultman is great. Yup, he loves Rasmussen, but still has Veleno ahead of him... I also love Rasmussen. I've said as much on several occasions. I'm not sure why you think I don't like him, just because I like Veleno more... LOL

    Robby Fabbri Extended

I've never suggested Fabbri had leverage "to take himself out of RFA control". In fact, I said that was the ONLY thing one could possibly complain about with this contract. You suggested that Yzerman signed him to a bad contract because, why again?

    2019-20 Prospects Thread

I've yet to see anyone credible, rank Rasmussen ahead of Veleno, but okay, my opinion is wrong, and yours is obviously right... Relax with your boy Rasmussen. Again, I was more so making a point that there's no way either should be higher (in my opinion), not so much that either should be lower. I even said right from the beginning, that they're right around where I'd slot them. You're focused on Rasmussen. What about McIsaac? I'm sure you'd agree that a case could be made for a few players there... Berggren has had injury issues, but so has McIsaac... I think the consensus would be Seider, Zadina, Veleno, Rasmussen as our top 4 prospects, not including graduates. A case could be made for about 3 or 4 other players for that 5th spot...

    2020 Offseason

I'd be okay with Andersson, but if we're making any trades to bring in bodies, I'm hoping we're using that cap space to acquire bad contracts along with assets (picks / prospect)...

    2020 Offseason

It would depend on what that "PLUS" is... It would have to be Romanov / 16th overall, for me to even consider moving Mantha.

    Robby Fabbri Extended

Yeah, Yzerman obviously didn't want to sign him to this contract. Fabbri made him do it. Great insight from CRL... I've made several valid points as to why this is a good contract for Fabbri and the Red Wings. You just choose to chime in when I use the word "dumb"... Sorry, I didn't mean to hurt your feelings...

    2019-20 Prospects Thread

Well, I think we both agree on the top three, and we both know where each other stand on Veleno, hence why I said "definitely not higher". "If anything slightly lower", because I believe you can make a case for a number of players being right there, with McIsaac and Rasmussen, Berggren just to name one. Odd, but okay...

    2019-20 Prospects Thread

I think McIsaac and Rasmussen are right around where they should be, but if anything, they should probably be slightly lower, definitely not higher. There's no one in that top 4 that they should displace. Oh yeah, Zadina probably doesn't crack your top 10 though... Johansson is the one that should be higher in my opinion. Also, why is Hirose graduated but Hronek is not?

    Robby Fabbri Extended

That's fair. However, I think McDavid may be better than Crosby. We'll see... Fabbri was an RFA, with limited leverage, but it is still a negotiation. No player / agent are going to sign for less than they believe they're worth, and Fabbri is worth this contract. Maybe Fabbri and his camp were pushing hard for two years, and Yzerman seen minimal risk in doing so, so he did just that. Spending any time or energy being upset about this contract is dumb. He will outperform this contract, and get a significant raise again in two years time. Whether that's by Yzerman or some other GM, who knows... Who cares if Yzerman "could have signed him for less" money / term. It's a good contract. Get over it.

    Robby Fabbri Extended

10 points per $1M is more of a tool for fans to gauge whether or not a player has performed up to his contract, not for a general manager to determine how much a player should get paid... Of course there are exceptions to the rule, and you have to take other factors into consideration (strength of team / linemates, defensive ability, etc.), but overall, I think it's a fairly accurate rule for forwards. In saying that, there's no reason to think that Fabbri won't exceed that mark over the next two seasons. That is why most of us think this is, and will be a good contract. Why not? He's the most dynamic offensive player in the league, and was on pace for 124 points this season. I think over the next 7 years, he will average right around that 125 point mark, if not, pretty damn close.

    2020 Offseason

I can't wait for Fabbri to pop off and put up a jaw-dropping 30+ points next season, and you have to eat crow...

    2020 Offseason

I've laid out why I believe it will be a very good contract. You choose to ignore that. As you always do.

    2020 Offseason

Nope. No one has defended their point here... It's just been a lot of back and forth about absolutely nothing... Exactly.

    2020 Offseason

"Fabbri's contract is bad" is almost as bad a take as "Zadina is a bust"...
  21. krsmith17

    2020 Offseason

Fabbri played 96% of his games last season with the Red Wings. That's GOOD. A middle six winger, who happens to be the team's 4th or 5th best forward, who can give you 78 games, 45ish points a season, is well worth near $3 mil.
  22. krsmith17

    2020 Offseason

Fabbri did STAY healthy as a Red Wing. He was a healthy, productive hockey player in Detroit. Injuries are so unpredictable in the NHL. Any player can suffer a serious injury at any time. IF Fabbri does suffer another serious injury, he can be put on LTIR, and it doesn't affect the team's cap situation in any meaningful way. Whether you want to admit it or not, a two-year contract is a "show-me" contract, and at sub $3M, there's absolutely no risk, and nothing not to like about the contract.

    Now you're getting it.

    2020 Offseason

Toronto likely wins that trade (depending on how they use that 15th overall pick), but if you think either side made that trade without thinking long and hard, you're extremely naive. I'd bet a similar trade was in the works before the trade deadline, but they couldn't come to terms. Kapanen has been rumored to be on the block for what? The past year? No GM is offered up a trade, and says "f*** it, why not!", and I'd bet the majority of GM's sit on a trade offer for days before they come to a decision.
