Not at all the same thing... It's fair to question "their" evaluations. But to say that the 5th(ish) ranked prospect is undoubtedly better than the consensus top ranked prospect, is dumb. You go on and on about how little any of us really know about any of these prospects, but I guess you're the exception, right?...

When did I say I wanted Larkin to be named captain? I simply think that's what's going to happen, regardless of what any fans think of the decision. Larkin was also a player of similar qualities at the same age. The bold, I kind of agree with... I think it also speaks volumes that pretty much everyone close to the organization has said "Larkin will be the next Red Wings captain". Also, the fact that Yzerman said that there will be a captain named next season. It's most definitely not going to be a rookie defenseman that has yet to play a single game in the NHL. It also won't be any of the current alternate captains (Abdelkader, Glendening, Nielsen). Larkin will be named captain. Mark it. -
If only a single other person in the entire hockey world were as smart as kipwinger...

Yeah, unfortunately POS has...

Probably not. I think Seider will at least be as good, possibly better than Larkin at his position. That doesn't mean Seider should be or will be captain over Larkin. Like I said, you might as well get used to the idea of Larkin becoming captain, because at this point, it's inevitable. -

I'm sure you do. You're down on Larkin after a down season. Everyone would have been okay with the decision to name Larkin captain last offseason. Now, let's move onto the newest shiny toy - Seider... Larkin is absolutely part of this team's future, and will be named captain before next season. Might as well get used to it now. Seider will get an 'A' at some point. -
It always does when POS gets involved...

It's cute that you think that your "belief system" does matter... Athanasiou possibly could have been a better player under a different coach. I'm not disputing that. So now all of a sudden you're saying Babcock did ruin Smith and Jurco. That's pretty convenient... -

What the f*** are you talking about? I'm not in any way saying that a coach can't ruin a players development. They absolutely can, and anyone that believes otherwise, is delusional. I don't believe Blashill "ruined" Athanasiou. However, I fully admit that AA wasn't always put in the best situation to succeed. He's gone now though, so who gives a f***? We got a reasonable return for a one-dimensional winger. -

All Blashill's fault. Sure... -

One is a center, the other is a winger. One plays great defensively, the other cheats offensively. One is the future captain, the other wasn't in the future plans. I highly doubt his race had anything to do with the decision to trade him... -

It's almost as if you think Larkin and Athanasiou are even remotely comparable... -

Like how you are? Suddenly hating on Larkin because of one down season where we are the worst team in the league? Don't forget 73 in '19 -
I think Ovechkin will go down as the best goal scorer of all time, even if he doesn't break Gretzky's record (it will be close). However, bringing up goals per game is a fallacy, since like every player, Gretzky's G/G decreased later in his career. The same will inevitably happen with Ovechkin as well. Gretzky (Career) Regular Season G/G: 0.601 Playoffs G/G: 0.587 Overall G/G: 0.599 Ovechkin (Career so far - age 34) Regular Season G/G: 0.612 Playoffs G/G: 0.508 Overall G/G: 0.601 Gretzky (Career up until age 34) Regular Season G/G: 0.714 Playoffs G/G: 0.611 Overall G/G: 0.700 Ovechkin may not have the same sort of drop off that Gretzky did (due to injury), but he most certainly will see his numbers take a hit. Also, like has been mentioned, Ovechkin has been extremely durable over his career, but that doesn't mean he's immune to injury. An injury can happen at any time, especially as he ages. It's also likely that he will play into his late 30's, maybe even early 40's, but at some point he might decide to finish his career in the KHL. People are assuming he will remain healthy, and play 80+ games every year for the next 6+ years in the NHL. It's possible, but probably not as likely as some seem to think...

Edmonton. That's odd... I hate Toronto, because they were my best friends fav team growing up...
-
Agreed. It's Ofechkin.

It's GretZky not Gretsky... How the f*** can you misspell the greatest hockey player of all time 99 times in the span of 24 hours?

Shh, that doesn't fit his dumb narrative... McDavid has 47 more points in 70 less games, but apparently Draisaitl is better because he's scoring at a slightly better clip this season... -
Yeah, because that was the goal in getting rid of AA... The team sucks, with or without Athanasiou, but the reason we sucked as bad as we did again last night, is because Howard is playing at the level of a zamboni driver... He's having a historically bad season and needs to retire after this season, along with Daley and Ericsson. Completely revamp the backend, and continue to build around the young core of forwards.
-
It's also ironic since he's the one that created threads such as "The Elite Dylan Larkin", "I Love Larkin", and "When does Larkin get the C?"... I don't know much about the Sens fan base. Hell, I don't know a single Sens fan (or at least they won't admit it)... But who doesn't deserve getting multiple top 3-5 picks is Eugene Melnyk / Pierre Dorion... THAT's what pisses me off. An owner / general manager mismanaging talent for years, and getting more elite talent thrown in their lap once again...
-
Why do you keep bringing up two players, not part of the conversation? We're talking about Dylan Larkin. Not Anthony Mantha. Not Tyler Bertuzzi. True or false? You're full of s***?
-
Way to cherry pick the one part of my post we've argued for pages in another thread... It's not just about who Larkin has played with, it's about how bad the team is as a whole. Team's are zoning in on Larkin (for good reason). You completely avoided the part of my last post about how his percentage of team scoring has gone up this season (for good reason)...
-
Can't wait... Larkin is playing better defensively this season, with less talent around him. That's not excuses or nonsense. It's legitimate reasons as to why his numbers are down. Last season, he was in on 32% of his team's goals. This season, he has been in on 35% of his team's goals. The team is f***ing awful. Don't put that on the shoulders of one (of their best) player(s)... Never said or implied that he would be... Nah, you already have that covered with your boi Rasmussen...
