Trade deadline bait available this year?

No excuses. Just facts. You upset?

Mantha might be done for the year - what now

Meh. I'm not rehashing all that again... Agree to disagree...

Trade deadline bait available this year?

Perlini got his first look in the top six with quality linemates the past two games. No points, but looked really good in the game against the Aves. He may never be anything more than a bottom six winger, but we didn't lose the Perlini trade, until Regula proves to be a quality NHL defenseman... Yes, that was the point. Trying to be just as "f***en ridiculous" as your 6th round pick for Nate Thompson trade... "Wastes of life"... Stay classy...

Mantha might be done for the year - what now

Didn't say you said he wasn't... I'm not really disagreeing with anything you're saying, except that Larkin isn't a 1C. In my opinion he is. You can definitely make an argument that Hronek has been the Red Wings best player this season. And prior to Mantha's injury, you could definitely make an argument that he was the Red Wings best player, up until that point of the season.

Mantha might be done for the year - what now

Mantha is 16th in the league in scoring (points per game) among right-wingers... It's a good thing it's not just points that determine a top line center, top line winger, top pair defenseman... On this team he is. In reality he is.

Mantha might be done for the year - what now

Larkin is a number one center. Hronek is a top pair defenseman. I don't think he's a legit number one.

Trade deadline bait available this year?

In what world does the "Fabbri trade not work out in the end"? If Fabbri gets hit by a truck tomorrow and never plays another game in the NHL, we still won that trade. If Fabbri is a 20 goal, 50 point middle six winger, we killed that trade. If we trade Fabbri at the deadline and get a 2nd round pick, we killed that trade. No one knows that there will be 4th round or later steals in this draft. Otherwise they wouldn't go beyond the 1st or 2nd round... Holy hyperbole... With your logic, we should trade Larkin to a contender for a late 1st round pick... See, I can do it too... I said that we should trade away our 30+ useless players for late round picks, not the other way around...

Mantha might be done for the year - what now

Like I said earlier, I'd hear the argument for Hronek. I think any of those three could be labeled the Wings best player. Mantha was a beast to end last season and start this season. His numbers were borderline elite (top 10 winger). He seems to really be coming on as a legit power-forward. If he can stay healthy (he needs to stop fighting), this can be a real conversation.

Mantha might be done for the year - what now

Yeah, saying that Mantha could be a top line winger, capable of 30+ goals, is definitely overrating him... He was on pace for 30 last season and 34 this season. There's no way he's a 30 goal scorer... LOL good ol' WIIM... Who do they have ranked number 2? Mantha. But yeah, Larkin is THAT much better that there is "no debate"... But, but but... WIIM said that Mantha is better, so there's no debate...

I'm talking about that type of trade. Not that specific trade. Obviously the Erne trade didn't work out. And don't start with the "told ya so"s, because you also told us that the Fabbri trade wouldn't work out. You do enough of those low risk, high reward trades, and one is bound to work out. Yzerman already made one work out, better than any of us could have imagined. When people say this is a "deep draft", they're talking about the first round, not rounds 3-7... Of course there will be good players drafted in the later rounds, just like every year, but like every year, it'll be awful odds hitting on one of those players. I'll take the sure thing over the late pick every time. The only sure thing about Daley is that he will not be a Red Wing beyond this season. Also, despite Erne's struggles this season, I'd say he has a better NHL career than most of our young, potential bottom six wingers...

Mantha might be done for the year - what now

This is what I'll NEVER understand... Imagine getting this upset and attacking someone for thinking *one of* the top players on a team is the THE top player on the team... I'm not sure if it's funny or sad... Find me a list, any list, that lists the top players on the Red Wings in numerical order... I'll wait. You act as if I'm saying Mantha is waaay better than Larkin... when in reality, I'm saying they're our top two players and an argument could be made for either being the top player. I apologize for saying Mantha is the best player, when maybe I should have said Mantha is one of the best players... Where the f*** were you when CRL was saying "Larkin sucks"?

Mantha might be done for the year - what now

You can count 11 games he was cold, but can't count the games he was red hot? The "hot streak" goes back to the end of last season, but sure, "few DAYS"... Mantha plays a *different* position than Larkin, not an "easier" position than Larkin. The rest are valid points, which is why it's debating... Mantha is the most naturally gifted player on the team. Few would argue that. What Larkin lacks in natural ability though, he makes up for in work ethic. Mantha was this team's MVP for the past few weeks of last season (after his injury) to the first few weeks of this season (before his injury). If he hadn't gotten injured, and were leading the team in points, I'm sure this would be a very different argument. Sure, some people would still say Larkin is the better all around player, and that may be true. But I doubt anyone would be saying "it's not debatable"... Such a dumb response. We're talking about the two (or three) best players on the team here. It's not like I'm trying to debate between Larkin and Athanasiou here... *lists reasons it's not so obvious... "Only on LGWs would we waste this much time debating something so obvious"...

Mantha might be done for the year - what now

Sure. You could add in "one of", or "arguably", or "who I believe is", if it really makes you happy... Bottom line, Mantha is *one of* Detroit's best players. I'd probably flip flop between him and Larkin depending on the day, but an argument can be made for either.
  14. krsmith17

Mantha might be done for the year - what now

No. You're dumb for saying that there is no debate that Mantha could be the team's best player, when he was by far the team's best player for the first several weeks of the season, before the injury. That's dumb and ignorant, but whatever. I think there could be a reasonable debate that either of Larkin or Mantha is this team's best player. CRL believes it Hronek. I disagree, but I'd hear an argument for him as well.

Mantha might be done for the year - what now

    You're dumb.

Trade deadline bait available this year?

Again, two very different situations. I'd trade a 4th round pick for a 24 year old bottom six winger, coming off a 20 point (in 65 games) season every time. I'd also trade a 30+ year old, with no future on the team for a mid to late round pick every time.
  17. krsmith17

Mantha might be done for the year - what now

That's your opinion, ya f***ing goof... Mantha is the most talented player on the Red Wings. I'll debate anyone that says otherwise. Does most talented equal best? Maybe not. But it's absolutely debatable whether Mantha is the "best" player on this team. Imagine that. Another person with a differing opinion... For me it's... 1. / 2. Mantha / Larkin 3. Hronek 4. Bertuzzi
  18. krsmith17

Mantha might be done for the year - what now

So if Mantha stayed healthy, kept his pace and was sitting at 42 points right now, leading the team, there would be "no debate"? Yeah, okay...
  19. krsmith17

Mantha might be done for the year - what now

Ok, so arguably our "best player"? Top 2 or 3 player on the team? What would you say? Before the injury, Mantha was our most dominant player all over the ice. If he has stayed healthy, he would likely still be leading the team in goals and points. Who on this team is indisputably better than Mantha? Larkin? Maybe... Bertuzzi? Nope... Who else?

Trade deadline bait available this year?

There's a HUGE difference in trading (taking what you can get for) a 36 year old and trading a 23 year old... I'd take a conditional 7th for Daley, Ericsson, Biega...
  21. krsmith17

Mantha might be done for the year - what now

Anthony Mantha (when healthy) is our most talented offensive player. You disagree?
  22. krsmith17

Trade deadline bait available this year?

I just hope Daley keeps playing games like last night... Even if a team is interested, I doubt we'd get anything more than a 5th round pick. I'd take it though.
  23. krsmith17

Mantha might be done for the year - what now

IF Mantha were to be traded, it would likely be a "hockey trade", not a typical "deadline trade". Meaning it could be involving any of the other 30 teams. If it were a top team, they'd have to give up their 1st round pick (25th-ish), plus one or two high, high end prospects. This I agree with. I have no desire to move our best player, who is still only 25 years old. Like I said, it would have to be a massive overpayment for me to even consider giving up Mantha at this point.
  24. F***ing retards... Edzo also said that Hronek isn't a top pair defenseman... despite being ranked top 30 in the league for points among defensemen, is actually pretty good defensively, and still only 22 years old...
  25. krsmith17

Mantha might be done for the year - what now

Why does "really juice 2020 pick" = "25th pick", and "prospect" = "3rd best prospect" to you? I'm not interested in moving Mantha unless it's a massive overpayment, but he shouldn't be untouchable.
