    General Rebuild Discussion Thread

If you think everything is going Fabbri's way I know for a fact that you haven't been watching the games. Guy works his ass off every single shift, makes plays, picks up points and has a bit of a feisty side. So our team is going to get much better by adding better players and Fabbri's point totals are going to go down? Yeah, okay... Perlini hasn't been given a fair shake yet. Until he does, I'm going to assume that every other year was not a fluke. If he does get a legit shot, with high skill players, and still doesn't produce, I'll gladly admit I was wrong. That hasn't happened yet, and unfortunately, it probably won't in Detroit.

Coming from the guy who thought (apparently still thinks because he's too proud to admit he's wrong...) that Fabbri was a bust and would be playing over seas by now, even after seeing him (or at least the stat sheet, because we know you don't watch...) put up 15 points in 19 games...

Trade deadline bait available this year?

No he hasn't actually... He's bailed this defense out for years, and he's burned out. He's been a 0.910-0.920 save% goalie for years. The definition of average. Sucking is below 0.900. He's currently sitting at 0.887...

You've had some dumb posts here man, but this one is definitely up there...

Trade deadline bait available this year?

Because this is the first time Howard has ever sucked... Throughout his career, he's always been a quality goaltender. Age has caught up to him, and he's fallen hard off the cliff. It's not like I've ever been his biggest supporter or anything though. I've always thought he was an average to above average NHL goaltender.

You also never thought anything of the Fabbri trade. Yzerman has made a bunch of low risk / high reward trades, and so far one has panned out, and that's more than you can realistically hope for. You said the same bulls*** with Holland too. "The trade fell in his lap", blah, blah, blah... Yzerman made a phenomenal trade, and all the others he's made, he's lost nothing of value. I hope he keeps making these trade for the rest of this season. Fabbri is also going to end up in the Swiss league right? Fabbri >>>>> de la Rose, Pope, Saarijarvi, Kaski, Regula AND a 4th round pick...

They traded a player they likely had no intension of re-signing for a couple games of Comrie. I think they should have kept Comrie, but at the time it was a great trade, and even now, Saarijarvi is not a loss. The Perlini trade might not work out, but I highly doubt it'll be a major loss. I'm still of the mind that Perlini could be a player if given an opportunity. Unfortunately, he's not going to get that opportunity in Detroit...

He pretty much is exactly that though... Arizona were going to lose Comrie for nothing, so they decided to take *something* for him. Saarijarvi had (has) zero value. Chayka could have waived him, and Yzerman would have claimed him the next day. Yzerman literally threw Chayka a (chicken) bone (Saarijarvi). Do they though? If Yzerman were to shop Saarijarvi, I don't think a single team would have given up a 7th round pick for him. He's a dime a dozen defenseman. Barely AHL quality. What? Winnipeg literally just acquired Comrie for less than chicken bones. They got him for free... Yzerman didn't get anything in return for him...

Trade deadline bait available this year?

I'd love to see Yzerman pull off a trade to acquire this Sorokin kid. His numbers in the KHL are unreal. And it's not just one season. He's been putting up crazy numbers since he entered the league at 19. Why has he not come over yet though? I'd probably give up Athanasiou plus a mid round pick. You'd have to think that would be enough, if he really is wanting out...

Trade deadline bait available this year?

We have zero quality goaltenders in the organization... At least Winnipeg have Hellebuyck... Howard is on the last year of his contract and sucks. Bernier has one year left and sucks (slightly less). Pickard has one year left and sucks. Larsson just started his ELC and has been really bad. Fulcher just started his ELC and sucks.

I wish we could have kept Comrie, but Saarijarvi wasn't really considered a prospect anymore. He was never going to be a Red Wing, and likely wouldn't have been re-signed. He had no value, much like Comrie apparently...

Trade deadline bait available this year?

Nah... Howie/Bern = old old = declining Comrie = young young = potential I'd prefer to keep the young, potential over the old, declining player / goaltender. Whatever though, he's back in Winnipeg now.

Trade deadline bait available this year?

That may be true right now. Maybe (likely) not in the future though. He *might* though. Even if he doesn't, neither do Howard and Bernier beyond the next couple years. I disagree with waiving him, for the reasons I've stated. Winnipeg claimed him...

Trade deadline bait available this year?

Literally not a single person "cryin" over this... In the end, waiving Comrie and potentially losing him to waivers probably won't matter much. He won't likely factor into our plans going forward, but there's a higher chance of him becoming a piece going forward, than either Howard or Bernier. All three suck. The difference is, one is 24 and could still become something (as unlikely as that may be), while the other two are 30 plus, and will be retired or journeyman backup before this team is ready to compete...

How have I never heard of this guy? This would (could) be an amazing get for this team... C'mon Yzerman, make it happen!

    Gimme Muh Monthly Yzer-Trade

Planning for the future, you should be leaning toward youth in my opinion. Howard and Bernier are not going to be with the Wings when we're ready to compete, regardless how this situation plays out. Comrie *could*. Anyway, I doubt this will end up as a huge move regardless, but I do hope he clears tomorrow...

    Gimme Muh Monthly Yzer-Trade

Comrie could (have) be(en) an option... Before the season started I was one of the few in the camp of bringing Howard back on another one year contract. But after seeing how this season has played out, I'd hate to see us roll Howard / Bernier for another season...

    Gimme Muh Monthly Yzer-Trade

Comrie has been pretty bad, but so has every goalie that has played in front of this awful defense. I'd say he's likely to become an NHL backup / AHL starter, but I'd still hold on to that sliver of hope, that maybe he could become a reliable NHL starter. Binnington was 25 when he finally broke out as a bonafied NHL starter last season. Comrie will be 25 next season. Bernier has been better, but not by much. It's also an extremely small sample size with Comrie. I would have liked to see him get a few more starts, before making a decision on him. If it's at all close, I'd always keep the guy that is 8-10 years younger. We might not re-sign Comrie, but like I said, I don't think we've seen enough out of him to make a decision one way or another. Hopefully we'll see what he can do with the Griffins, and maybe call him up again later in the season. Howard likely won't be back, and Bernier only has one year left. I'm not going to say Comrie was going to be the answer, but maybe?...

    Gimme Muh Monthly Yzer-Trade

Pat Nagle is a more than capable AHL goaltender. He could back up Pickard for the rest of this season. Comrie hasn't been great, but not really any worse than Howard and Bernier. I'd rather keep the 24 year old over the 35 and 31 year olds... Hopefully he clears.
  21. krsmith17

    Gimme Muh Monthly Yzer-Trade

Comrie has been placed on waivers... I'm not sure why Yzerman wouldn't just move one of Howard or Bernier, or roll three goalies for the rest of the season, or until one gets injured...

    Gimme Muh Monthly Yzer-Trade

I think this could happen, and it definitely should happen... If we buy Nielsen out this offseason... 2020-21 - $3,416,667 2021-22 - $4,416,667 2022-23 - $666,667 2023-24 - $666,667 That's a savings of nearly $2M next season, and $1M the following season. We'd be on the hook for nearly $700K the following two seasons, but that shouldn't effect things too much. Well worth it to buy out a player that is on pace to have 5 points in a full season, and brings very little of anything else. We can pick up (free agency) or promote (Grand Rapids) any player that can do the same (and more) for much less (league minimum).

    AA vs. Mantha

Mantha. That has absolutely nothing to do with who is the better goal scorer though. Funny how you asked this dumb question, instead of the real question you're trying to get answered... Make another poll "Who is the better goal scorer, Mantha or Athanasiou?"... You already know the answer you'd get from that though, and you don't like it. Ask Steve Yzerman. Ask Jeff Blashill. Ask Ken Daniels. Ask Mickey Redmond. Ask anyone in the hockey world. They will all come back with the same answer. Mantha. You know why? Because Mantha is a better goal scorer. Yeah, I'm sure you have a great point here jackass... Can't wait to read it in the morning...

I know people that have never put on skates or held a stick in their life, but know more than you about hockey. What does playing the game have to do with anything?

    AA vs. Mantha

You're right. I am. However, I would never ask someone if they have ever played competitive hockey in a hockey debate. Just pointing out how much of a moron this guy is. Nope. Never voted.
