Would be a good fit.
-
Good player. Also another 2014 1st round pick...
-
Yes, because of his elite winger (Mantha)...
-
I don't even think I'd do that. We'd have to be offloading a bad contract for me to have any interest in Turris.
-
I'd do Nielsen for Turris straight up. Turris is the better, younger player, but also has an extra 2 years on his contract, and nearly a mil more per season...
-
No thanks... Aren't the Preds trying to move him? $6M per for another 4 1/2 years for a 30 year old middle six center. I wouldn't want to sign him for that term, let alone give up assets to trade for him... Sounds eerily similar to the Nielsen contract we gave out three years ago...
-
Christoffer Ehn for Daniel Sprong
-
Yes, but we won't have to worry about anyone outside the top four two...
-
So you're now saying that Lafreniere is listed at 6'1", but is really 5'11", and Seider is listed at 6'3", but really is what? 6'5"?
-
6'1" is 6'1". You're previous comment was dumb, but this one takes the cake...
-
I hope not. The only way I'd consider Askarov, is if we acquire another 1st and end up with a pick around 15th overall.
-
No. He's trying to troll me... Ehn will not be fine.
-
What is Neo talking about? I have no idea...

I'd like to say that this comparison couldn't be more wrong (because I never liked Hudler), but I can see the similarities. However, Zadina's ceiling is still MUCH higher than Hudler's ever was. Hudler was a 40-50 point winger for a few seasons with one outlier, where he was a point per game player. I think Zadina will be closer to Hudler's monster season, than his average season... You clearly haven't been paying attention to his play in Grand Rapids. He absolutely has been creating offense. Kinda my whole point is that you're dead wrong in your analysis that "He doesn't create offense. He's purely a finisher." -
The "little Frenchie" is 6'1", 203lbs at the age of 18... Also, why would the "big German" (2" taller) come charging at him in practice?
-
1. Lafreniere 2. Byfield 3. Raymond 4. Stutzle
-
No. They both suck, but the difference is, Ehn is paid like a borderline NHL player, whereas Nielsen is paid like a 2nd line center... That, to go along with the 12 year age gap, if I had to choose, I'd obviously keep Ehn. However, neither should be on this team next season. Nielsen should be traded / waived / bought out and Ehn should only be brought back as depth for Grand Rapids or as the 13th / 14th forward.

Zadina probably won't ever be an "elite" winger, but he will definitely be a high end top six winger at the NHL level. He's still very young (20 tomorrow). Take away that '6th overall' tag, and he's our undisputed top forward prospect. He may never carry a line at the NHL level, which is fine. Very few wingers do, but he will likely be a very good complement to a high end playmaking center. The way he's scoring goals is a positive in my opinion. He's scoring in every possible way. He's scored rebound goals in the crease, deflections in the slot, one-timers, off the rush, etc. It's a good thing that he's not scoring all of his goals on clappers from the right-side of the ice, ala Pulkkinen and Frk... I'm not going to say I see "elite" offense at this point, but it is high end. He hasn't dominated at the AHL, let alone the NHL *yet*, but he's been creating scoring chances for himself and his line mates. It's not like he's been sitting back, waiting for things to come to him. He's been going to get it. Zadina will be fine. -

Zadina recalled. -
I agree. I didn't mean that Dubas has done nothing at all noteworthy, just that he hasn't won anything as a NHL general manager *yet*. I hope he never does in Toronto... I also agree that Tavares was a mistake. I said that they day he signed. I think they would have been better off keeping Kadri and using the money saved on defense.
-
I was never one that overrated Babcock though. I always thought he was a decent coach that was overrated by a lot of *other* Red Wings fans and even more so by hockey media (Canada in particular). Things just got worse in that regard when he signed that massive contract in Toronto. I told all my buddies that were over the moon about the signing, that they would grow to hate Babs. Sure enough, they did. I wouldn't go as far as to say I actually hated Babcock as a coach, I just didn't agree with a lot of his tactics. I'm sure a lot of people will disagree with me on this, but I think Blashill was / is a better fit here the past few years than Babcock would have been. I think Blashill is a really good coach, and has done a fantastic job with the young guys on this team.

I honestly believe that Veleno or Rasmussen would be an upgrade over Nielsen as the 3C right now. However, I'm not advocating that change right now, as I believe long term they're probably better off developing this season in Grand Rapids. I'm completely fine with Nielsen helping the "tank" this season (he's doing a great job), but he should not be (I don't think he will be) anywhere near this roster next season. I'm sure one of Veleno or Rasmussen will be more than ready to take over as the 3C next season.
-
Key games / situations. Game 7 in the playoffs, your top dogs should play 25+ minutes, not 18... Anyway, I'm done with this. I don't care enough about Babcock, much less the Leafs.

B There are always teams trying to reach the cap floor, that don't want to spend the money. How about Nielsen (half salary retained) and 3rd round pick (or a mid level player / prospect) for a bad (but not awful) contract and a 6th round pick? That's the type of deal that could be done, without hurting us long-term. Neilsen is tradeable and we would not have to give up a top player / prospect / pick to make it happen.
