Brad Stuart's rights traded to San Jose

We all knew it was coming but tough to see it actually happen. At least we got a pick, better than nothing, and another piece to use to acquire someone else.

    Wings interested in Garrison

Garrison is definitely a left handed shot, article got it wrong, but still would be a great pick up for the Wing's either way.

    What's Kenny Holland's Offseason Plan?

This team needs some change this summer badly! This is what I would like to see (probably hopeful but possible) First trade Franzen, rights to Stuart, and pick/prospect for Dustin Brown at draft (right handed shot, plays with grit, skates hard) - long shot but possible imo Then sign Parise (goal scorer, entering prime) Resign lids at slight discount if possible Don't resign huds please! Sign someone like Jarott Stoll (right hander with grit and scoring touch) Sign Bryan Allen to replace Stuart Trade Emmerton, Kindl, for anything Lines could look like this: Parise-Datsyuk-BertuzziFilpula-Z-BrownNyquist-Helm-StollCleary-Abdelkader-Eaves/Miller Lids-WhiteKronwall-AllenEricsson-Quincey/Smith Even without Stoll lines would be a lot more solid! Parise and Brown are upgrades over Hudler/Franzen Suter would be awesome but I think he'll stay in Nashville!

Why is Cleary still on the team?

While Cleary has definitely not been great this year, I still think he's one of the hardest working guys on the team. His injury has obviously affected his game a lot, but he's one year removed from a 26 goal season and everyone wants him gone. Everyone has off seasons, especially when they have a nagging injury. If you wanna start talking lazy players start watching Franzen out there and talk s*** about him! Yeah sure he leads the team in goals, but he's just so damn lazy it pisses me off. He could easily score 40 goals in my opinion, he just chooses not to put the effort in every game. Can't say the same for Cleary, he at least is trying to play on one leg!

    Nyquist needs to stay here

I love Nyquist...he hasn't scored yet but he's been in on several goals and he creates chances frequently! I'll be pissed if they send him back to GR. There is definitely some learning for him to do, but he deserves to be with the big club! With everyone healthy my lines would look like this: Nyquist-Datsyuk-Franzen Filpulla-Zetterberg-Hudler Bertuzzi-Helm-Cleary Miller-Abby-Eaves (Homer/Mursak/Emmerton) Lids-White Kronwall-Stuart Quincey-Smith (Ericsson/Kindl)

    3/24 GDT : Hurricanes 4 at Red Wings 5

Holy s*** what a game...needed that so bad! People have been giving Cleary so much s*** lately and he is one of the hardest working guys on the team. He's playing with one leg and still battling and grinding every shift. Did people forget that he's coming off a year where he got 26 goals, only behind Franzen's 28?

2012 NHL Trade Deadline Thread - February 27th, 3:00 PM ET

It's gonna be funny in 5-10 years when San Jose sucks and the wings are still a solid team. Pretty sure they have one of the worst prospect pools in the NHL and they just traded more prospects lol! San Jose's future after Thorton, Marleau, etc isn't going to be as bright as the Wings' Still hoping the Wings make something happen here because everyone of our rivals has so far gotten better, at least for this year anyway!

    Dustin Brown being shopped around

The Kings are trying to make a long playoff run this year and Stuart would definitely help that plus I'm sure he would resign there. I know it will take more than that I was just saying that is a possibility!

    Dustin Brown being shopped around

I really want Brad Stuart for playoffs, but since it looks like were gonna lose him to the west coast in the off-season anyways, maybe a Stuart for Brown deal. I know the Kings need scoring but they also could use another defensemen with Jack Johnson now gone. Doubt it will happen, but just a thought. Would probably have to throw in a pick/prospect with Stuart since he's a UFA. I'm sure he would resign with the Kings though! I would also do maybe Hudler, Tatar, 3rd round pick or something of that nature if the kings would want it. Think Brown would really fit in nice with the Wings. He's a righty too and loves to hit! Tatar is overrated imo anyways!

Just Say 'No' to Mikael Samuelsson

DUSTIN BROWN PLEASE! Consistent 50 point scorer with lots of grit and right handed shot! Perfect!

    Dustin Brown

Always thought he would be the perfect fit with the wings. Go get him Kenny!

    Somethings brewin'?

I have gotten that same feeling in the past 24 hours with the moves going on with the wings. It just feels like the Quincey trade was a precursor to something else. Maybe I'm just being hopeful that something more is going on but Kenny always seems to make deals that no one is expecting. Even though the Wings have been playing really well and have good chemistry the only thing that matters is getting it done in the post season. We can't afford to lose to the Sharks again this year! I'm sure Kenny has a plan and I do think there will be another move by the deadline. In a related note my close friend works for the Maple Leafs and I'm not sure where he is getting his info from but he claims the Red Wings have submitted some sort of offer for Grabovski. Have no idea where he heard this and it shouldn't be taken to seriously but just thought that was interesting.

    Tomas Tatar

Living in Grand Rapids I have seen many Griffins games the past few years. IMO Tatar has never really stood out to me as a star player, especially now seeing Nyquist play. He's not a bad player by any means, just doesn't seem to impact the game in the same ways that Nyquist does so that is why he is below Nyquist as far as prospects go. Considering we have plenty of upcoming propects and everyone seems to be pretty high on Tatar as a prospect around the league, I wouldn't be opposed to looking to trade him in a package for a sniper at wing. Obviously it depends on who would be coming our way in the trade, but I just don't see Tatar being a top line player in his career!

    Gustav Nyquist

Nyquist did pretty good in his few games with the griffs. Will be nice to see what he does with a full year in GR. Definitely seems to have a bright future. Also, he probably has the sweetest name ever...all the more reason to love him!!!

    Defensive pairings

I see the D lines like this: Lids-Ericsson Kronwall-White Stuart-Kindl/Commodore As bad as it is that Ericsson will be in our top pairing, being with Lidstrom may just help him back to his 09 playoff self.

Red Wings trying to move Jiri Hudler

If no one wants Hudler now we just gotta hope he has a decent season and ups his trade value. Maybe then we can deal him with picks/prospects at the deadline for a decent top 6 scoring forward. I also like the idea of just a straight up Hudler for Nabakov trade, most of the backup goalies I liked have been signed and I think the Islanders would be willing to do this trade.

    Forward lines next season?

I like the lines like this... Filppula-Datsyuk-Cleary Bertuzzi-Zetterberg-Franzen Hudler-Helm-Eaves Holmstrom-Abdelkader-Miller/Mursak/Emmerton Would also like to see Tatar a little more this season.

    Wings re-sign Ericsson to 3-year, $9.75m contract

“The cap world is about finding players that play beyond what you pay them.” That's a direct quote from Holland. Either A) he is going against his own beliefs or B) some kind of sign and trade is in the works (we can only pray it's B). I know Ericsson is still has potential and it's a weak FA market, but $3.25 million is way beyond what he's worth (I would say $2.5 million MAX and even that's pushing it). Let's just hope Kenny knows what he's doing on this one or has something up his sleeve.
