As a Wings fan stuck in Illinois nothing would make me more happy then a victory tonight!! I think it would be even more awesome if we won in OT and the fans started singing Chelsea Dagger. -
Red Wings don't belong in the same rink as the Hawks?

I think their show is going to Detroit on Monday for game 6(if there is one). I only listen to them on my way to work, but I thought that is what they said the other day. -

He seems to miss more than he is there. I only listen for about a half hour on my way to work. His partner(speigal) took him to task a little today. I was kind of hoping Wings fans would fill up the phone lines today -
gdt WCSF Game 3 GDT - Blackhawks 1 @ Red Wings 3 - (DET leads series 2-1)

I am glad that even after finally winning a Stanley Cup, Q still reverts back to his default setting when trouble hits from the Wings....Whining about officiating and thuggery -

No he has never played professionally anywhere. He is a career radio guy who has had a lot of issues holding jobs because of addiction and anger issues. He probably is the most passionate hockey guy on the radio in Chicago and has been a fan for a lot longer then the last several years. -
I predict he resigns with The Wings for 4.5. The Wings clearly want him or they would have traded him at the deadline, so they will pay up to keep him. I do not agree with this, just giving my prediction.

Tatar frustrated; says he will only play in NHL when contract done

I am not trying to defend Holland, but how much of this is also on Babcock? There seems to be no doubt that he prefers the Clearys and Millers(veterans) over younger players. Holland may just be thinking it is better to be actually playing in GR then minimal mins in Det -
I live in Illinois and I think the Hawks/Wings rivalry is way more important to Hawks fans. They are all kinds of giddy over facebook about sweeping the Wings. In Jest I said that they only really beat the Wings once this season the others were just ties that got decided in a game of 5 mins of fake hockey finished with a free throw contest. Most seemed surprised that OT rules and shoot outs are kind of a newer thing. I think when Belfour wouldnt do the hand shake line back in 94? the rivalry was somewhat chippy. Never nearly as intense as some of the other more recent Wings rivals though.

signed Official: Howard signs 6-year, $31.8m contract extension
rking72 replied to matt198913's topic in General
I think the only way this deal turns bad is if Howard starts to play much poorer than he is currently. I think we obviously need scoring, but with our average defense core I also think it is important that the Wings have a good solid goalie. Seems that the Goalie/Defense is set going forward. Time to work on the Forwards...hopefully -
Concerned - we might not make it in to the playoffs

ok. Trend is not always a straight line. They could go on a 10 game win streak to end the season and be second in points but that does not change the overall trend. Carry on.... -

I sometimes hope my children fail at things so they can realize the path they are taking is not going to lead to long term success. I also hold out hope that I am wrong. I hope I am wrong about the direction the Wings are headed, but it is hard for me to see them trending any direction than down right now. This trend has been going on since they lost to the Pens in the Cup finals without any discernable plan to change the trend. Like I said...hope I am wrong -
Shocking, Wings aren't active as trade deadline expires

again..fine. But be a seller then. -

Fine...then he should have been a seller. It would appear that they are afraid to offend the fan base by being a seller, yet do not have the moxy to make the moves to make them a legit Cup contender. So we are entering limbo -
I didn't care if we were buyers or sellers, I could understand an argument for either. I just thought it would be nuts to stand pat, that makes nooo sense whatsoever.

I think you guys are going to be disappointed when we end up with Jagr
-
Didn't the Pens make several other moves the year they added Hossa? Or am I remembering that wrong?
-
Yes. Hate to say it but somewhat similar to what is going on with the Wings. Our bottom 6 is not what it was during our glory years. Same thing happened to the Blackhawks after they won the Cup. Had to shed too much quality depth and it really hurt them for a couple of years. Now they are back because it took a couple of their young players some time to get to be NHL quality 3rd/4th liners. If The Rangers are serious about trading Gaborik you would think they would want to add depth to help replace what was traded for Nash.
-
I think the Hawks are going to have some cap flexibility and trading chips at the deadline. I don't think they are better right now then they were last year, but still have the room to get better.

The Wings already have Bertuzzi and Holmstrom in the slow down the top lines role.
