Why is this team never ready to play hard at the beginning of a game?

I wonder what other coaches do to get their teams to start on time. Babcock has not been able to get his team to start promptly for 2 years, at least. I do think it's time to bench Franzen. He has no energy.

What is it going to take to get Franzen off this team? Just give him to the Oilers for a 5th rounder.

This is part of the slump. In each of the last 6 games, the opposing goalie has been red hot. Shots tend to hit the post, or trickle just wide. No one really knows how long they will last. You'll know it's over when the puck bounces off a defenceman and into the net.

Stage slump started with the Maple leaf at the Joe. It's been downhill since then. Hopefully it doesn't last too long. My guess is 10 games.

Cbj has had more dangerous scoring chances than the wings. Columbus is very structured along with a terrific goalie. Hopefully then ingest can get a point. We know what happens in OT or shootout.

Hope this is not the beginning of a slump. As for the shootout, I think the players are getting too close to the goalie. There is no space, especially with a goalie the size of Luongo.

It's time to bench Franzen and put in Clearly. Kronwall too was on the ice for 2 goals.

Z has really slowed down.

Franzen makes every line he's on completely useless.

Franzen returns and the wings lose 2 games. Any coincidence there?

This will come down as one of the worst trades that Detroit has made in the last 30 years. I do predict that Jarnkrok will end up being a premier centre in the NHL. Shame on Holland. shame on Babcock for wanting him. If the Wings don't resign him, the trade is even worse.

The wings are clearly outmatched, out skated, outsmarted and any other out you can think of.

The Bruins look a lot faster than the Wings. Hate to say it, but Babcock being out coached. His team's not ready.

The wings can win the series if they play each game like the first one. Can they do this? In reality, NO. We have too many error prone players which leads to penalties and hence goals against. The writing is on the wall as exemplified by today's game.

Just don't fold. Stupidity is catchy and we just saw 2 stupids in arow.

The wings were very lucky tonight. This was one of the worst efforts ever. Babcock has no clue how to get these players untracked. I know a lot of you love him with his 2 gold medals, but seriously, he can't teach them how to set up a power play. Even Legwand has become invisible under Babcock's system. Why was Pulkinen not used in any one of those 4 on 3 power plays? Babcock just does not have a handle on his team. Over the years, many teams have had lesser than star quality players but they were able to play organized, efficient hockey. Not so with Babcock. Completely disorganized. Make a trade - Babcock for Ted Nolan, or Lindy Ruff or Hitchcock.

Babcock needs new ideas. He's supposed to be a teacher of young players. This team is uninspired. Good preparation, coaches.

I disagree that Pulkinen should be on the 4 th line. Put him itch Tatar and Sheahan. My biggest complaint about Babcock is his inability to put proper players together. If Pulkinen is on the 4th line, it explains one of the reasons why the Wings are in the mess they're in.

I do not like this trade. It smacks of complete desperation. For what - a chance of getting into the playoffs, as slim as that may seem. Jarnkrok was still the best chance of a better than average centre for years to come. Dats and Z's years are numbered. Z may not even return and if he does, will he be the same? All things considered, dumb trade.

The last time mule had a great game in Ottawa, his scoring dried up worse than the California drought. Hopefully, this time around, he continues the charge and takes seriously his responsibilities. He must continue to lead and work.

I think both teams were excellent. There wasn't much difference between the two teams. Every player worked their tails off. Desperation and suspense at its finest. Emotionally, I felt that this was the gold medal game because of the rivalry and they both play the North American game. Congratulations to BOTH teams.
