Could of double shifted Larkin,AA and whoever else if they weren't comfortable with mantha and make sure mantha got some good chunk of playing time on the ppl where his shot could help and his big body in front of the crease But it's ok we got brad Richards and his shots to goalies chests on the ppl to bring us to the promise land

Just seems all the kids besides Larkin are taking a step back and it's frustrating to me personally , this as a golden opportunity for mantha to learn while pavel is here and gain huge playoff experience If everyone thinks this season was tough just you guys wait till pavel is gone and un experienced mantha steps in full time with possibly guys like nosek,ouellet,sproul,pulkkinen and god knows who else It's gonna be Armageddon around here next season

Having a line of Richards helm datsyuk won't cut it for a long playoff run though I thought the kids would be better when Blashill came here but they are mostly being benched , Tatar and nyquist who should be good for 25-30 goals have under performed and were over using the vets I don't know , hope we win but if that's gonna happen it's going to have to be with mrazek as I don't see howard capable of stealing series , so I'd expect us to go with mrazek game 2 or 3' And athanasiou needs a significant amount more than 5 minutes of ice time , he needs to be with pavel

Pretty ridiculous blowing the last chance mantha will ever have from being surrounded pavel , Blashill was all about the kids when he came here but athanasiou is playing 5 minutes a game now and all the kids he practically coached in Grand Rapids are being benched Jeff let's keep playing it safe Blashill could turn out to be a big mistake Brad Richards and Anderson won't help us win a cup , having athanasiou and a sniper like mantha get more ice time on the powerplay and top 6 will Whatever , at least we got 25 years now .... That seems like the only goal now

Hank will be here what another 3 years at least ? If Larkin keeps progressing and just keeps getting better he will be the next wings captain

Richards? He's gone after this year and he's not bringing much to the table now I really thought pavel would stick around one more year and not handcuff us with the 7.5 cap hit .... Now that being said and he's actually leaving I hope we insert mantha back in and let him play with pavel now and learn, I wanted him up a lot sooner to learn from him and hank but now time isn't a luxury And I hope Blashill wakes the f up and stops playing it safe and realizes if we're gonna make a good run here the kids are gonna have to step it up and that means more ice time and not benching a sniper and playing AA 5 minutes a games and overplaying hank and pav who will only get more tired and not benefit the team the longer the playoffs go for us It's time for Blashill to trust some of these kids , and if we are gonna have a long run it'll come through mrazek and not Howard

The problem with that is if there is an expansion team then guys like Fredrick anderson and marc andre fleury will most likely be available and chosen before howard That being said if there is an expansion team then we will have to allow a certain amount of cap money available and Howard's a big chunk of it and wouldn't be opposed to him staying just to be one of the taken, but I also wouldn't be opposed to trading him and getting a 2-3 million backup capable of playing 30-40 games if need be Personally just wanna see ouellet being a wing full time, see some of sproul and trade s Tatar or nyquist for an upgrade , someone who can play defense and pass the puck up , not a vatanen, don't think we'd look good with both green and vatanen on the back end And most importantly I wanna see athanasiou and mantha get significant playing time , and some ppl time... That's the only way they will improve, if pavel returns he and hank need to play a few minutes Utes later so they are more fresh near the end of the season If Howard steals a round or 2 then yes we trade him , but if there's an expansion draft it'll be a lot harder to deal him since a ton of good goalies will be available ... Fleury,bishop,Anderson to name a few so it would be a lot harder, and almost impossible to deal Howard

I said if Larkin hits 30-35 every year he will demand for a higher salary since the guy on the team with the highest salary is making 11 ... You think he'd be satisfied with 6? How many guys have thrived in the ahl and done nothing in the NHL? Anyone who's ever drafted is basically a ? Until they play in the NHL , there's loads of top 5 picks that stunk ... Doesn't mean there's no reason to be optimistic on players We won't know if holmstrom will be a NHL player until he comes down but the fact that he broke a Swedish elite league record for playoff points by a rookie held by the sedins is something to be hopeful about , that and his play at the juniors for Sweden ... Kids got potential Unfortunetly not much potential on the back end prospect wise which had to be addressed this draft by taking as many d's as possible (3-4 at least preferably )

I think we just need to look out more for d's were good upfront with anathansiou Larkin mantha for many years , and got svhechnikov coming bertuzzi etc ... , I think we can afford to calm down on the forwards and maybe draft 3-4 d's and then last few rounds go for a Andersson type prospect and hope for a homerun And for the other person who said the wings only other top prospect is svechnikov , could be wrong but I think we got some other kids to be hopeful with , maybe not a top line kid but I like axel holmstrom , what's not to like about a late pick who has the record in the Swedish league for most playoff rookie points? He goes to the net , has some skill, needs to work on his skating but he's got the tools to make it , nosek, bertuzzi,turner on,nastasiuk all guys who can make it , frk is coming back from the dead with his production this season Defense ... That's the way to go ... Unless we could trade with a team like ducks or flyers and grab a few defensemen since they are so stacked

We shouldn't even be looking at offensive prospects as it's very clear our urgent need is help on the back end We got some real promising prospects upfront coming .... I think we should Just look at defensemen for the first 3 rounds

heard from tsn guys the expansion team(s) are lookin to get younger and not go for older veterans like last expansion teams have done So I could see them getting some veterans and some younger prospects here and there ...
