See alot of guys going around for dirt cheap , dont think helm fetches more than a 4th i think yzerman would 100% take on johnson , all depends what they attach .... id hope we get in on fleury at eat 7mill salary and fetch a 1st + But if we also eat 50% pff fleury all of a sudden its like 12 mill dead cap for two seasons , again we can do it with free agency guys now signing dirt cheap and the cheap rookies we’ll be addinf but then if we want to eat more dead weight next season for a team we’ll be looking at like -16 mill ... i know lots of if’s , id just bury him a yr then buy him out

K i just checked capfriendly ... now if it was up to me id bury nielsen at least for a season and worry about him later the next two seasons will be 7-8 mill cap hits if we do it but i can see us buying nielsen for two reasons ... we’ll be adding guys on cheap contracts and now with whats going on in the world the cap will be stuck at 81 and what were currently witnessing we’ll be seeing decent players available for cheap so we’ll easily be able to add say some dmen (since basically everyone will be a ufa next off season) Wouldnt shock me to see another forward or two added with so many guys on one year deals and waiver options

I dont know what that guys going on about , i liked pearson for yrs but i think he easily spends next season down as well as smith .. at least one more year or maybe see some games due to injuries or moves i can 100% see erne,filppula,nielsen being waived so we dont have much to worry about atm . Maybe yzerman finds a taker for helm for a 5-6th pick and moves him we got plenty of time to worry about this stuff , we might even add johnson if tampa pays up

Erne might not even make the roster ... i cant for the life of me seeing us protect dekeyser with one yr left on his deal and his injury ordeals . Makes zero sense and i wouldnt lose sleep if we lost him not sure svechnikov stays now depending how it goes but id 100% protect smith over timashov , we dont have a physical player like smith who can drop the gloves occasionally and also score the dirty goals i protect cholowski unless he goes completely downhill next season im ok with timashov,stecher,hirose,dekeyser being exposed stecher mignt play great this season and maybe we’ll think we can resign him otherwise wouldnt make too much sense to protect a guy with one year left over two kids unless again they completely fall off the map or we just see them as a 6/7 and value stecher more

Or for sure not every guy will be moved imo and some guys will be moved for 2020 picks but yzerman himself said more picks the better so i dont think if he could get 15 picks hed prevent it from happening

Expansion draft requirements , and in the grand scheme of things i dont think timashov will be here in 2-3-4 yrs so he’d have to be one of the two guys required including nielsen We have to have guys who played in 40+ games the previous season or 70 last two combined and i cant see hirose and erne being in that mix and definetly not smith(i would have protected smith anyways cause we dont have anyone like him on the team) Draft requirements means someone like dekeyser or stecher would have to be exposed ... unles cholowski is a complete disaster and we move on from him , as of today id protect him and lindstrom with them being 22/23 ... dekeyser has one year left , aging had injury problems i doubt anyone takes him , he might not even be a valid player to be exposed if he doesnt play enougn games which would then mean stecher would be exposed which is why im guessing yzerman gave him two years

Just doing the math , were at 9 picks and we have like 10ufa’s , even if were able to only deal 6 thats 6 picks ... so unless he stockpiles some for later yrs we should have more than 12 ... dont know how much we higher we can go with a bunch of 4ths/5ths in the mix We’ll see what happens man but usually when there’s a bunch of young kids all at the same time it doesnt usually go so good so i definetly think wed be in the mix to be in tne bottom 5 and considerng how the last vew drafts have gone if we finished 3-4-5 it wouldnt be the worst thing

Id say thats good i dont know when the expansion draft is but im guessing teams will have time to sign players before the expansion draft occurs? as of now we’ll likely have one of stecher/dekeyser available on the back end and id possibly sign timashov x2 750k and he’d be available for expansion and cheap enough where hes easy to get rid of

Im sure some like erne,timashov and sadly svechnikov might just get waived when its all said and done cause if duclair calls yzerman and says i want 2 mill to prove myself he wont say no and if we get tyler johnson for a 1st,2nd foote for example he wont say no either i just dont think he’d hesitate to just cut guys, id trade helm now if i could though and send nielsen down . I agree with that but id be down with duclair or someone x1 that can bring a significantly better return at the deadline than what we currently have to offer
