I went on the swedish elite league to check on janmark to see how he's doing and low and behold in the 8th spot , 2 pts away from 1st was our 7th round pick axel holmstrom that Andersson was praising about with 2 goals and 4 pts in 4 games Now I know it's still way too early but it's very promising that an 18 yr old kid is doing this and if he keeps it going we might have something very exciting in our hands Anyone here seen him play?

Nobody thought datsyuk zetterberg or lidstrom would be stars when we got them , or Franzen would be a 30 goal scorer and playoff performer(even though he hasn't been great of late) I'm sure we go some forwards that will/can turn out to be stars Mantha comes to mind obviously ... Nyquist if he continues his tear ... I see a lot of guys with tons of potential upfront ,not all will make it , some might need to get traded but I can't remember a time we had prospects this good and deep in our system Star potential goalie in mrazek .... Backman ouellet sproul marchenko in the back end The future looks bright in detroit

I personally think this is babcocks last year in detroit ... I'd be shocked to see him back

Well looks like he's not gonna get his chance this year unless we suck or we have a ton of injuries again Hope he comes back 100% and stays healthy

Your right about that but sadly every time we have extra parts we always lose them through waivers and get nothing back ... Seems to be the redwings way Just wanna see the best possible lineup we can have I got nothing against mantha starting in the ahl I'm just saying if he starts lighting it up every game I can see us giving him a chance to start the season here ( I believe we got 9 games as a trial run before we lose a yr on his contract ) As for jurco I think he's proven he can play in the nhl last year and has great chemistry with Tatar and sheahan .... Unfortunetly because we always have a ton of depth veteran guys who are a dime a dozen we always keep someone who could be up a lot sooner down in Grand Rapids

I didn't suggest throwing away scraps as you put it in order to get a big trade , just said unless guys step up our only other way to make something happen would be through a big trade (Tatar,pulkkinen,1st rounder! you d ... Whatever) And I didn't mention anything negative bout Callahan , I fact I wanted him here last season because he's the type of guy we don't really have on the team , just seeing all the players and spots and I just can't see him getting a spot unfortunetly As you said though we'll see what happens at training camp

Well I think if were gonna contend again with hank and pav still here were gonna need some of our better younger prospects to help out , unless we pull off a big trade Cleary miller Andersson are taking up 3 spots and I think we can do a better job in the back end

Probably cause I'm guessing he's playing with mantha but nice to see frk on the board , hopefully he has a bounce back season

Trying too see who we might lose if there were the 2-4 teams rumored to come in a few years Anyone know how many we can protect ? Are the players with no movement clauses vulnerable to being moved ?

Na no way man if push comes to shove we protect 7 other kids up front and let weiss Franzen abdelkader glendening and even helm(as much as that one will suck) 3rd-4th line guys will be a lot easier to replace and if were of man lose a guy or 2 I'd like to think if push comes to shove Kenny would be smart enough to say trade a Tatar and someone else for an elite defensemen Other wise mantha jurco Tatar nyquist sheahan along with pavel and hank are untouchable along with bertuzzi or whoever else would be up here That being said as much as the nhl wants there's no way in hell we can have 34 teams , 120+ players with new teams would mean a lot more guys in the league that shouldn't be there , at the most I see 2 new teams and possible relocations

What you pasted says a player had to have played 40 games the previous year or 70 the previous 2 Chances are mantha will have had a season within next few years and possibly ouellet/sproul

I think if it comes down to losing Howard or mrazek in a few years we'd have to leave howard unprotected ... And I'd have to think howard would be claimed in a heart beat unless other as good goalies are available and have less money and term(don't see it though) I'm more worried with the forwards and d though It be nice if Quincey were still here so we can leave him unprotected but for that to happen the new teams would have to start in 2015, and I don't see lashoff being here in 2-3 yrs so I'd have to think it could be someone like smith and/or Ericsson unless we wanna risk losing a young potential d like ouellet/sproul/backman/marchenko And for forwards off the top of my head we might protect Zetterberg datsyuk helm nyquist Tatar sheahan jurco mantha And that last spot could be another rookie like bertuzzi/pulkkinen/janmark(if they crack the lineup in 2-3 yrs) Other wise it be glendening(Babcock loves him) Either way I see weiss and Franzen being left available for the taking

I told you guys months ago this would happen and most didn't think it wold happen ken holland is wayyyyyy too f***en loyal man What a joke, it's not even a 2 way contract right guys ? Now Alfie will probably sign and jurco will start in the minors .... Another wasted season , only hope is these guys everyone know shouldn't be on the team keep getting hurt and the kids play and perform So sad

Unfortunetly guys in there prime who are top end nhl players aren't ufa's anymore and I'm not willing to part with mantha mrazek and other top end draft picks to get one ... It sucks cause it would be absolutely amazing if we had say Tavares with datsyuk and zetterberg now but it is what it is We're still a good team and I still think pavel and hank when healthy can carry us in the playoffs next few years , we obviously need our depth guys to help out and the kids to keep getting better , if nyquist shows up game 1 till game 82 and produces say 35-40 goals and can continue to get better in the playoffs we might have our future hank/pav And depending if mantha makes the team if we put him with pavel I do think he has the talent to get 30 goals and be a Calder winner This year was a disappointment but I do think injuries had a part ... I do think were still cup contenders and we will be much much better next season I do think we can still contend in the east .... Injuries had a big part in us just getting in and pav and hank weren't 100% in the playoffs .... We fix up our d a bit and we'd be a lot better than this season Boyle as a veteran depth dman who can help the ppl .... Ouellet a rookie is way better than lashoff IMO , marchenko another rookie but who played with men in Russia I think will be better and make the safer players than kindl. Sure it sucks having 2 rookies but if we rotate them in or put them with a veteran dman each game it'll help

Why get stuck with a niskanen for 7 years (who's had 1 good season , he's no number1-2 dman in my opinion) when we got guys with a ton of potential In ouellet sproul marchenko backman jensen almquist etc Coming up in 1-3 years Boyle signed for 1yr-2yrs max would be a good fit , no ones expects him to be a top pairing dman now and he'd help the ppl , yes his stats have declined but he'd still be good for 30-45 pts and help take the puck out of the zone

Ray bourque was an old fart who couldn't get it done till he got traded Every player is different I think just think for whatever reason San Jose chokes every year , wouldn't pin point a specific guy I think it's a collective thing And boule won a cup in Tampa .... For 1-2 yrs max in detroit he's be good fit until ouellet sproul marchenko are ready for increased ice time

Agree with the krug offer but I like the Boyle signing , he's the one I want .... We need a veteran dman who can get the puck out and can play offence Yes he's old but He's perfect because he won't cost us any assets and in a year or 2 guys like ouellet sproul etc will be ready for a lot more responsibilities
