Problem is I don't see them dealing him I see them trying to get rid of Thornton and/or marleau And as for the person who said to get vlasic there's a 0% chance sj trades him I know it won't happen but I think if we got Thornton at a good price a line of zetterberg Thornton nyquist would be just madness On a side note weiss is training with Gary Roberts this summer who's just a machine so there's reason to be optimistic .... That being said if there was a way to get Thornton in a weiss type deal I'd do it Thorntons been a loser in the playoffs yes but it's just not him ... As I said niskanens stats really dipped for 5 prior seasons before this one ... I think it also helps playing with Crosby and the other guys on the team ... Wouldn't wanna risk signing him to 5-6 yrs at 5 + per for having one +40 pt season Thankfully though I suspect he resigns with Pittsburgh and saves us from making a huge mistake in my opinion Where did you hear edler wants to come to detroit?? I'd pass on him as well .... Unless we can get something like a shea weber type d in a trade I wouldn't give up significant prospects for an edler .... I'd try and maybe sign a Boyle or Markov to 2 yrs if they somehow managed to be free agents which I doubt Or maybe a tallinder for one year? Veteran dman who's 6'4 I really think ouellet will be our vlasic and crack the lineup and be good and I got real hopes for marchenko who I also think has a good chance of cracking the team if anything else he will get significant games this year with a call up later on

Ya I don't know about niskanen , personally think he's overrated and wouldn't take a chance on him after having one good year and then being stuck

Was checking free agency list ... There's 3 forwards that caught my attention Dany heatley - yes he's gone down last few years but I'm thinking at a one year deal and putting him with datsyuk he can get 25-30 again I think , no way a goalscorer loses his shot Milan michalek - depending on term (2yrs max) I'd give him a shot and can look good with datsyuk as well and get 20-30 I'd think Shawn Thornton - he's make 1.1 million ... He's 36 but personally I wouldn't care and give him 2 million for 2 years to maybe entice him to leave boston ... It would only be for 2 yrs and it would give us a big nasty forward on the 4th line who can play, hit and drop the gloves .... He personally would be my choice for forward If anything id consider bringing pulkkinen up , I think he'd get 20 goals
