because what he had done in florida??? what did he do exactly?? 3 out of 10 seasons he had 50+ pts i just hope he wakes up and can get us 45 pts a season here at this point or else were gonna be stuck with this awful contract for 4 more yrs unless we actually buy him out at seasons end (which only way i see happening is if he ends up with like 12 pts during the whole year ) or if we find a sucker to take him now thinking he can rebound there (maybe a team like edmonton to play with the kids )

off topic but read that florida is trying to get rid of kulikov , would anyone here trade up kindl for kulikov if only kulikov agrees to sign with detroit for a kindl type deal (2.4 for 3-4 yrs) theres worry he might go to the khl in the off season so no he wouldnt be worth a risk if he doesnt resign

i like smith , nothing against him i just feel maybe redwings believe in him more? and only time will tell but i think sproul and ouellet arent far off and in my opinion think theyll be future top 4 guys and i see other guys competing for jobs so i see quincey and i guess smith out but i can see maybe kindl in a package deal to someone since he has 3 yrs at a good cap number

maybe they helped eachother out? weiss having all those top minutes and ppl minutes in 10 yrs only had 3 50+ pt seasons ... i didnt think he was gonna be this bad thus far in detroit but i never expected him to be a 60-80 pt guy here, guess he cant handle the pressure he'd be better off somewhere like phoenix

yes all unproven and the chances of all of them succeeding are small ... but the chances of all these guys with loads of potential being all nhl busts are slim in my eyes

well since kindl got that new 4 yr deal at a reasonable cap # i assume the wings believe in him and he has been better these last 2 seasons

almquist would be perfect on the 2nd ppl unit right now instead of that waste samuelsson ... the 4 you mentioned are still 2-3 yrs away so i think almquist could be here till then but ya i dont see how he can have a longterm future in detroit

i just hope we stay away from steen , hes having an amazing year but i cant see him ever reproducing this type of season again and hes gonna probably command 5-6 mill a yr after this season i just hope we finally see the end of bottom guys like cleary samuelsson eaves bertuzzi here and see some future guys here its time to insert some kids who can play, unfortunetly were gonna have like 3-4 guys out of waiver options thats why i hate it when we wait till it comes to that , rather insert 1 or 2 kids and blend them in gradually and not have to wait until were forced to bring up 4 rookies in one shot into the lineup, i hope to see ferraro and callahan before the end of the year to see if they got a future here or not

this is AWFUL news ! and now if were expecting weiss to step it up and help us out of this funk were in trouble ... i hope im wrong but in my personal opinion ive always thought he was overrated , got only a few seasons of 50+ pts in florida playing top minutes and powerplays and didnt really make anyone better in florida , like i said i hope i am wrong and he wakes the f up cause we sure as hell need him now franzen has played center before right? maybe babs will take a look at him at center for a few games? i think ferraro and callahan should play a few games here before the season ends to see if they got a future here ( there both out of waiver options next year) so maybe now is the time to call one of them up?(not to play top 2 lines obviously) jurco needs to stay down all year and dominate the hell out of the ahl and maybe be ready next year if he plays incredible at training camp or just stay another year in the ahl again , still only 20

im not surprised at all that tootoo was the odd man out ... im just annoyed that yet again were losing another player and not even getting one draft pick back in return

i remember getting blasted here for not liking the weiss signing saying he was overrated ... now that hes got only 2 goals are most people here happy??? yes i know hes missed a year of hockey but his skating seems fine and hes suppose to be a playmaker yet he has 0 assists , i hope the guy turns it around for the wings sake i never saw the point of signing him among others when jurco,sheahan,ferraro and others are close to making the team .... i also didnt like alfredsson signing because of his 5.5 cap year but since its only 1 year i can live with it

tatar will probably pay the price as well and not last here long , was signing someone like drew miller to 3 long years really necessary?? we all knew samuelssons return was a huge mistake at the time that being said im not against cleary coming back for one year but since he signing 1 year its all but sure he will resign next year for another 2-3 yrs... we got a ton of young players with big potential ready in 1-2 yrs and its about time we blend some in Not put them all in at the same time or trade them away to keep the oldies around who are expendable

upfront next year we got sheahan jurco ferraro frk pulkkinen tvrdon callahan aubry defense almquist nedomlel marchenko nicastro jensen ouellet sproul goaltending mrazek coreau ridiculous lineup next year ... anyone else i might be missing??? i cant think of the veterans right now that might be back but the defense looks really stacked im guessing maybe nicastro wont make it , aubry?? what do you guys invision the forward lineups being??
