Yup ,and i wouldnt be surpised if stevie wants nothing to do with deangelo and i couldnt blame him but we’re rebuilding and if taking deangelo for one year can result in us getting a 1st at the deadline we have to do it we’ll see what happens, id suspect he’ll go to like florida, low taxes and racists no? Pretty sure seeing how it turned out for him afterwards and how he couldnt even get a gig in the ahl has woken him up by now . If it didnt nothing will but i still think its worth the gamble for the payoff , we have literally nothing to lose plus no better option in free agency , that being said im sure he’ll find a better team to go anyways

I know hes a giant ****** but if he can keep it in check for a year and produce id 100% sign him to flip him at the deadline, he might actually fetch us a 1st provided he’d still be an rfa after next season and a team can resign him its a risk but we’re rebuilding and it can turn a free asset into a first . And he can be signed after the expansion draft and still after he was dealt for a,pick , we’re rebuilding i dont get the reluctance of trading mediocre players? Hes what 34 now? If we trade him and he doesnt come back he doesnt come back , if he decides to test ufa at his age and go to a contender we’ll live get the asset first , we then deal with the aftermath

After we trade him and get a pick , would be dumb to resign him and use a spot on him for the expansion draft over smith/svechnikov

Been talking about going after bean for over a year now , doubt they move him especially if they cant get hamilton locked in , theyll likely give seattle an incentive to not take him If he can be had for sure id be in on it

You know anything about barinka? I remember wanting us to draft him with one of our later picks , he always had good stats in tournaments but for whatever reasons his numbers in halifax were s*** , dont know if that was due to ice time or what or if he just sucked but in tournaments he always did good Maybe hes someone we can take a flyer on and sign as a free agent in the off season, might as well try out a few 19-21 yr old free agents and put them in grand rapids

True but history has shown not much has come from these signings , especially older guys id rather start giving the kids more games personally , whatever happens happens Yes most dont work , especially older players if we can land a 19-22 yr old undrafted sure but why bother go after a 5’9 27 yr old when we have smith,rasmussen,Svechnikov,hirose already and a bunch of kids coming? signing someone older isnt a risk , i just see it as pointless as almost none work out and with all the kids we have waiting for a shot

Panarin’s probably like the only euro thats worked out id probably go after soderbloms brother whos a younger goalie and maybe some khl goalie whos like 23 and under and hope one strikes .... mikko lehtonen was like the khl’s all star defensemen and signed with toronto and ive barely heard of him, heck even ncaa college free agents have been a dud ... we should probably stay away from anyone 24+ whos a free agent , not a good track record

There should be a zero chance of smith being exposed on waivers. Id protect svechnikov but seeing him go on waivers and unclaimed unless he shows us something the rest of the year i cant us protecting him Protect larkin mantha bertuzzi fabbri rasmussen smith ... last spot namestnikov or hirose , all depends how hirose plays the rest if the way and if we need namestnikov exposed for expansion rule , maybe yzerman makes a move for a younger player and protects him? So for me that 7th spot is still up for grabs For d hronek and stecher is protected (although if someone offers me a 2nd for two post seasons with stecher i move him ) last spots up for grabs with cholowski,lindstrom,djoos I hope if we want to move on from cholowski( and i have a feeling we do) wed move on from him prior and get a pick for him now while we still can get something if i had to guess as of right now were gonna lose one of cholowski/lindstrom/djoos

Not many if any are former 1sts whos never really had a look yet and is unknown commodity, hes as good as gone kylington is 110% gone ... if im yzerman i waive biega and pick him up but i have a feeling as well he’ll play safe after picking up djoos, kylington might never be anything but hes 7 yrs younger and biega is a career ahler so it should be a no brainer move
