Hes out of waivers , tons of players have made team rosters due to this sticking point . Dont see why he wouldnt have been on the same boat Does to me , he should got a look over several players , its not that hes been a brutal 1st rounder hes had ton of injuries to deal with . If he plays elsewhere and pans our and gets 15-20 next season we’ll look dumb

Love yzerman but its a moronic move ... nielsen,erne, gagner etc... who gives a s*** about those guys we have a ton of similiar players who are 4th line guys . Nielsen to the taxi squad would have went unclaimed svechnikov deserved 3-6 games to start , yzerman never had him in his plans . Think at the deadline perry would fetch more than gagner i doubt svechnikov clears , hes as good as gone a team can claim him he plays fails and puts them back on waivers no risk . As of today forwards - mantha bertuzzi larkin rasmussen fabbri smith svechnikov defense - hronek cholowski stecher goalie - greiss svechnikov barely plays due to injuries or just doesnt produce , move on and replace him with namestnikov , as of now i wouldnt protect namestnikovwith only one season left before hes a ufa If canucks(or someone else) comes crawling back cause they realize they f***ed up with stecher (and theyd have the spot to protect him) and pay us the price id trade him by the deadline (hed have more value with that extra season attached) . That happens lindstrom gets the spot

He hit 7 goals with the redwings in 50 games and our line up then and since then has been garbage . Dont think its against the realm of possibilities that he can hit 10 goals ...with additions like ryan,zadina,namestnikov,rasmussen it should make us a bit better outside hronek we have zero offensive production currently from the back end so id take those 10 goals from cholowski if hes got that to give

Sure you can sit the odd man out but i cant see us telling staal and merrill theyd be benched to start the season , especially staal . They seem to have sold him on the idea hed be an important player here and wouldnt look good You can provide all the evidence you want , biega is destined to be an ahl player soon enough, could lindstrom and cholowski join him? Of course they can but id much rather play the kids who are 10 yrs younger than some of these guys . Only way to improve in the nhl is to play in it , you can practice all you want in the ahl and try to improve your game but itll never be the same as playing in the nhl (with the better linemates mind you) You can say cholowski didnt produce last year but neither did anyone else , we were the worst team in the league by far . Put him on a ppl with a zadina , ryan , rasmussen and whomever else on the point and i can already tell you that would be miles ahead better than the 2nd ppl unit last season

Biega shouldnt even be talked about hes a taxi squad player who plays when there’s a need. Hes brian lashoff on his last nhl season before being a full time ahl player if those kids cant be in the lineup then they should be moved to the ahl , if one forces their way on the team then you try and trade a nemeth now if you can instead of waiting till the deadline

A pick for seattle to do what? For nielsen? Doubt theyd ever claim him ... was thinking leave him available for expansion draft as one of the requirements needed and then buy him out i cant see nielsen being a redwing in 21-22

Id have to put smith in there , think after this season hes a fulltime redwing and we dont have any player who can fight and bring the physical play he brings . Id have protected Svechnikov with ease but now after today im having doubts, think he might need a new start elsewhere . Im not sure what steve will do with namestnikov and stecher , he might have got them for seattle purposes , and if canucks come and crawl back for stecher and gives multiple picks wed have to consider it if wed risk losing him anyways for nothing anyone know how many games nielsen has to play to be one of the veteran players eligible for the expansion draft ? Cause as of now in my mind hes a taxi squad guy all season but due to positive tests and injuries if we can fit him in 15 games and be done with him so he qualifies for the draft that be good enough

Cant even say lindstrom makes fhe team either at this point with all the additions we’ve made ... i dont know if lindstrom is exempt from waivers but id be flipping both back and forth to the ahl and big club see who emerges If we can trade a nemeth now to a contender for a 2nd (with salary retained ) i pull the trigger today instead of the deadline and create a roster spot ... call pittsburgh they seem to want to trade all their assets until sidney retires

Hes gonna be 23 , he needs to have a good look this season to see what we have ppl can say he didnt produce in the ahl and thats fair enough but outside hronek we dont have any offensive dman and a few yrs ago cholowski got 7 goals in the nhl and 0 in the ahl the same season. Just cause he didnt produce in the ahl doesnt mean he cant get numbers with the wings(griffins roster’s pretty bad anyways) all that being said i dont think he makes the roster with all the additions , if he wont play hes not worth keeping around over a biega who can basically sit 56 games for all we care

Never mentioned trading larkin . Brought up mantha ....just said i can see seider being a future captain type player but if larkin is named captain it he wont trade him afterwards

We’d only fall back more as i think we need some players who are vets who can actually play who arent just 4th liners stuck with all 18-21 yr old kids but i do think i can see yzerman trading mantha after this season at some point and getting a great value for his services if zadina pans out and raymond looks good etc... cant fit everyone in the top 6 , surely bertuzzi can be an easy drop to the 3rd line but again we all know not every prospect pans out but all depends if berggren takes a massive step and becomes a top 6 guy , niederbach,soderblom etc.. if we land a wright or who we get in a trade someone like mantha can become expendable . Cant see yzerman naming larkin captain and trading him right away , part of me thought he might just keep delaying until he sees seider in a wings uniform and how he performs. Hes still very young but he looks to have future captain material written all over him

Flash forward mantha and larkin demand a trade and we end up with 9 wins

Yes they are already back for the nhl season , im saying if rasmussen came back just to be on the taxi squad he would have just stayed in europe like veleno and seider he’ll make the club Oh no? Lose erne? How will we recover... doubt anyone would claim him
