There's talk about expansion drafts coming and I'm curious if anyone knows how many players were usually allowed to protect ? Apparently teams won't be allowed to protect 2 goalies ... And also word that teams might have to leave some good players unprotected as they don't want the new team(s) to suck for 10 years straight right off the bat Apparently players with no trade clauses will be available to be picked up or it'll count as a player a team protects (better be the first) I personally think teams might have to leave a player making 3-5 per at least available , so I'm hoping we still have Ericsson around Anyways ... Anyone know the amount of players usually left unprotected ?

Just worried if we got rid of Ericsson holland would give another stupid signing to someone we don't need , rather save the money for when the times needed and we can land someone impactful ... Not a fan of ericsson but at this point he has 2 more yrs , suffer another season or trade him now with some of his salary, but we both know it won't happen

If we had cap space holland would sign girardi for 5 yrs , I'm more hopeful of trading a sheahan for a second rather than losing him for nothing ...or trading green to edm for a top pick and protect ouellett and sproul or trading for a dumba type we don't have top end talent to protect from Vegas to just give away a 1-3rd pick

It's a bit of a gamble taking a bunch of goalies , we seen teams win with average goalies ... iT can backfire I seen Brodin,dumba available on the trade front as well as vatanen(not high on him) and dehaan if we can land dumba who's still only 22 , that would be awesome especially for a nyquist type problem is I think they have a ton of forwards to protect and would want a svechnikov type and I don't think I'd be willing to get rid of svechnikov for him if we somehow landed trouba and dumba we'd be right back to competing for the division I'd think, depending the cost but it won't happen

Man Didn't know van riemsdyk was so good that a team would be forced to take another contract tsn an had a mock draft and button and some other guy both had Vegas taking Ryan sproul which is not what I wanna see happen, still had nice upside especially for the ppl i wanna trade mike green to oilers even more (yes I know it won't happen) and protect ouellet sproul dekeyser ... I like Jensen but he's a 5-6 , ouellet just reminds me of vlasic , not crazy stats but good and reliable, sproul has the right handed shot and upside for the ppl and dekeyser struggled last season but so did most of the team and he's playing out of position so I'm not ready to give up on him
