Simply stating if helm was on the 4th doing the role he should be then we wouldn't of needed both of Miller/ott and frk would be here both Miller and ott though shouldn't be here ... I'm sorry , I never wish for someone to get hurt but I'm hoping one of our defensemen get hurt not named ouellet/sproul , especially Ericsson or maybe kronwall gets delayed another 4 weeks just enough time for us to see sproul and ouellet play and hopefully show the management they are worth keeping around, seeing as defense is our biggest concern I don't think we should be giving up on a vlasic type player in ouellet and someone who's as a big as sproul and can potentially be a good powerplay contributer as you mentioned with frk and pulkkinen they both never got a real shot in Detroit especially frk, boggles my mind these washed up veteran signings/trades that happen every year and always fails ... Weiss/legwand/Cole/tootoo/samuelsson etc... I don't think we will trade dekeyser seeing as our big problem is defense l just saying what I think they'd want in return ... Unless we had blue chip defensemen prospects to offer, which we don't I do think on the redwings he's a number 2 dman , don't know on most teams he would be ... The offense is stacked in Winnipeg if anything they'd want is a leadership presence up front and nyquist certainly doesn't bring that If there gonna lose a big dman like trouba I'm convinced dekeyer would have to be included as they'd want a really good dman coming back and we don't have any dman blue chip prospects to dangle and ouellet isn't enough,smith is a ufa in one year I'm trying to be realistic , we won't land him with a Tatar/nyquist ... Problem is the jets have a crazy amount of good forwards now and coming up and I can't see them wanting nyquist or pulkkinen We don't want to part with dekeyser but to get trouba we'd probably have to be willing to part with dekeyser and smith/ouellet and a first ... Did Tatar need to play 4 seasons? Pretty sure if I recall people were saying he was more than ready after spending 3 seasons down ... We've always been a pro veteran team , keeping clearly longer than needed, resigning samuelsson Ouellet was kept down as long as needed , redwings usually always wait till the very end to insert prospects in ... Not that ouellet is a star but I'm sure on a lot teams he'd have played last season

He's starting there no matter what he does and Ken holland says and if athanasiou is waiver exempt it wouldn't shock me either if everyone is healthy and we make no moves that he starts the year in grand rapids(although I don't think he'll stay too long) if the wings could they would let mantha and athanasiou stay in Grand Rapids for 4 years rather than just 2 ... Ya I don't get the ott/Miller signings , signing helm to 3.85 cap hit assures us he's gonna be on the 2nd or 3rd line (don't get this signing either) Signing vanek as well guarantees no matter what holland says to the media or how good mantha does in exhibition games that he will go back to Grand Rapids I totally see a nyquist/Tatar being dealt for a fowler (much rather of had trouba,but don't have the pieces) Sadly with all these signings I can see us losing pulkkinen jurco frk for nothing ... I just hope it's not literally nothing(rather give Andersson 2-3 7th rounders and more cracks at a gem pick than losing guys on waivers again) I just hope jurco/frk dominates exhibition play and forces us to trade ott/Miller ... Mantha sadly with no worries about the waiver will start down in Grand Rapids
