The reason we never trade away players rights is its because it's the ken holland way ... He's way too loyal and is always thinking , we'll leave the door open incase Helm already said he's resting free agency, if a team thinks they can sign him then trade his rights and if he's available to sign and we can land him at a reasonable shot then do so , until then pick up that 5th round pick (mrazek as a 5th rounder, so you never know) Helm knows this will probably be his best chance at getting the most money possible in his career and I can see a place like Dallas with Jim Nill knowing how valuable he can be maybe fetching a 5 yr 20 million type offer , which we shouldn't pay Anyways point is he's almost as good as gone , trade his rights and get some picks

Players with 2 yrs pro, NHL or ahl would be exempt which means Larkin and Russo that come to mind would be safe but players like mantha,bertuzzi wouldn't Like you said though , we might make some deals this off season and add a dman or someone worth protecting ... I just hope we protect the kids we been developing such as mantha and bertuzzi

Alright so expansion is happening officially , so who do we protect? We leave an aging zetterberg and kronwall unprotected and hope no one claims them ? Course things can change but as of now I got Mantha athanasiou bertuzzi abdelkader sheahan and one of Tatar/nyquist Dekeyser and 1 or 2 of sproul ouellet marchenko and/or whomever else we might get through a trade And of course mrazek Bertuzzi hasn't done anything yet in the NHL but I think he can be a really good bottom 6 guy that shows up in the playoffs , and I'm sure this Vegas team will try and get some young kids with talent whether it be from the ahl or NHL and I wouldn't want to risk losing him Again anything can change and will probably change ....we're lucky we don't have to waste a spot on Larkin and Russo

That and more importantly i believe a team will relocate to Quebec City ... Maybe Carolina Hurricanes And don't forget Winnipeg got Atlanta during a hockey season so it's a possibility Quebec also joins Vegas in 2017-2018

Facts are Arizona and especially Carolina are a budget team , yes or no? Facts are recently especially Arizona they have been trading for contracts that make them save actual money cause they can't afford it and would love to spend less money than the actual floor salary Yes they'd be doing us a favor by taking the contract but Now if we have to give up a 2nd or 3rd to also help them out in mutually beneficial transaction than forget it like it said and suck it up for the season You make it sound like its such a big deal for them to take the contract off our hands, belive me karmanos would love nothing more than to spend 7 million less than he has to Well not interested in giving up a 2nd or 3rd or a jurco ... As you mentioned I'm sure holland will only move the contract if he needs to free up space , I doubt we move that contract and then can't sign anyone

Well you can't just give away an asset in return for nothing ,but teams giving away 2nds and 3rds to also help out teams that won't to spend money makes no sense to me , it's not like we're trading a contract to a team like the flyers who are willing to spend to the cap If teams want to give up those prices and be f***en stupid then let them ... I got no interest in parting with a 2nd or 3rd rounder or a jurco We have one year to deal with it and let's just suck it up and let mantha athanasiou and some other kids actually get some real ice time We got wastes like Ericsson holland can try to part with and get some other assets in return if he wants to make a change But if Carolina who's in real financial troubles can add a contract and save 7.5 in actual cash by taking that contract that's a gold mine for them Carolina is really going no where next season and by adding cheaper contracts with that 7.5 cap hit they might very well get the 1st overall pick in 2017 Black isn't what made Florida include the 2nd rounder , it's the contract basically which is ridiculous .... I'm not overestimating nothing , if you know a team like Carolina is in financial trouble and wanna spend at the bottom of the cap to spend the least amount of money as possible how is not adding 7.5 million to reach the bottom floor and saving 7.5 in actual money not a god send? Sending a 2nd or a 3rd makes zero sense .... I guarantee you if we changed our minds and decided to stick with it for the season a few weeks later Carolina would call back asking us for that contract Ya for sure they wanna take advantage of the window they have but giving up a 2nd was a ridiculous price to pay
