    Are Russian players "really" lazy

Not just Russian players....many players don't care about the Cup. Most recently Suter and Parise, who will now never see it again unless they do a Discover commercial with Peggy. A championship used to be the focus of everyone and was cherished, now these guys could care less about winning, as long as they have a bloated contract, are playing with friends and are worshiped by their fans. It's turned into the NFL and NBA.

    Holland Content with Current Roster

It's never good to be a fan of gaping holes.....hockey or otherwise.

    Holland Content with Current Roster

That's partially true....all it takes it a favorable first or second round matchup to build some steam and have those one or two "average" players have "elite" performances. Remember when Franzen, Pavelski, etc had crazy playoff performances? Your highest paid players aren't always your best. If you keep filling your top 6 with older past-prime talent, your young stars can't get the chance to shine. I can see Brunner and Helm having great seasons and proving they can put up top 6 results with top 6 playing time.

    Holland Content with Current Roster

I still think he will make a few tweaks this off-season. Am I mistaken or are we not even to the cap floor yet? I don't agree with signing Semin and Doan to multi-year deals and being stuck with that. I still believe that having a mediocre year and first round exit would be worth landing Weber and Getzlaf next year, not to mention what might come at the trade deadline this year.

    Red Wings Alumni Showdown Roster

This game won't be complete unless McCarty drops the gloves.....

Six teams on Nash's trade "list", none Canadian

I could see Lucic being a good fit here too, always liked watching him play.

looking for a pic of franzen

Wow...he looks more out of it than usual there, almost sleep walking. I'd bet that Kronwall actually hit that guy and he just happened to land somewhere near Franzen.

Blue Jackets Sign F Nick Foligno to Three-Year Contract.

    There's the Nash replacement.....
  9. If Ryan Suter eludes us, what are the chances of us out-bidding Nashville for Weber this season. Would the cap space available by Suter's departure allow NSH to submit an insane qualifying offer? What would stop Holland from tossing a 12-year $100m offer sheet at Shea just to put NSH in a tough spot?

Matt Carle signs with Tampa Bay: 6-years, $33-million

Since we're about the reunion apparently, we could work out a Lilja and Meech package deal too. Maybe Kenny is thinking "hey, these guys won a cup together before, let's just get the old squad back together"

Could Wings still make a move on Weber this year?

To clarify, I wasn't picking an exact number for the contract, just a hypothetical scenario. However I do agree that Weber is a better d-man than Suter.

Zach Parise agrees to 13-year, $98-mil deal with Wild

Those two have more talent than the 2007 Predators....
  13. Per NHL.com the Pens lost Steve Sullivan to the Yotes, citing that he couldn't wait forever to hear the Parise decision.
  14. At least you could combine the woohoo sound with the TooToo sound

    That answers my question, thanks!

Suter Watch: Decision today, down to Wings/Wild

He's signing a 1 year deal with MIN, I hear he wants to play with Parise too.

Could Wings still make a move on Weber this year?

Hmmm 50 seems like it could be a gamble on our part....

Suter Watch: Decision today, down to Wings/Wild

Unconfirmed report..... Shea Weber flew to Minnesota, smashed Suter's face into his sliding glass door (twice) and convinced him to stay in Trashville so they could have several chances to lay into Tootoo next season.

Could Wings still make a move on Weber this year?

I wasn't sure how that all worked but it seemed like an outside-the-box strategy....

Parise Watch [update x2]: Red Wings OUT of Running

I know it's a long shot but there are some players (in all major sports) that just want to have fun playing with good friends/teammates and don't put first emphasis on championships. Look at the flip side of this....even if they never make the playoffs, these guys will put up great numbers and the blame will fall on other players/management. The worst case scenario is they each make $100 million dollars and play 12 years of hockey with their good friend. Sure it would piss all of the rest of the hockey world off, but I doubt they care too much. Don't be surprised to see them sign in MIN as a pair (and share a kiss afterwards)

Suter Watch: Decision today, down to Wings/Wild

Doan's 21 goals alone may not be worth 4.5m but his combined leadership, knowledge of the game, work ethic, and durability sure make up quite a bit of that. We all understand that Semin, Doan, Nash, etc are not on par with Parise. But compared to some of the craptastic performances and efforts put out by some of our forwards last season....anyone mentioned would be an improvement.

    Jagr signs in Dallas

I hadn't heard that Philly had zero interest in signing him back. UFA doesn't mean that he has to go to another team...they could have only been in the running for one of the other players mentioned, now they have the space (both cap and roster) to land multiple "big fish"

    Jagr signs in Dallas

This opens the door for Ryan, Nash or Parise to end up in Philly.....not good.

Was Tootoo carrying a 6'1" 198# burlap sack?
