How ironic, I drafted Tyler Bertuzzi with the 2nd round 28th pick in my NHL 12 Dynasty Mode with Detroit. (About 6 months ago)

Its weird way to end a weird season. This is pretty much the exact same team we'll see next year, can they do it again? How will we fare in the Eastern Conference? Glad we have Jimmy.

went to the game. first playoff game. After our first goal the crowd was banging (dear lord i hope we stop with the chicago sucks chant). After the second goal, crowd was really banging (it was beautiful). Then I feel like so many people were stuck waiting in lines for bathroom or concession (i missed 7 minutes into the 2nd waiting to use the bathroom) and the wings matched the crowd in not really showing up for the 3rd. Also saw 2 fights (one during and one after) all between wings fans. as for the play.. hawks looked slow and steady, on the attack. wings top 2 lines didnt play offense, looked like they were playing not get scored on the whole game (bad strategy if you ask me). Bottom two lines were strong, consistent. Filpula, Franzen, Zetterberg, Datsyuk (aside from dangling all 5 hawks players at one point) (cleary sucks), kinda didn't really notice them at all...and I was at the game! To me, this was rigged. Maybe sports are a sham. I don't know but to sum it up the wings looked like a really talented team, with extremely talented players, holding back on hits, shots, back checking, fore checking, like the mob was gonna get them if they gave 100%. At one point i saw franzen go to hit someone, stop, and then coast by him continuing to coast not seeming to care? The wings that won last series and 3 games this series was not the team we've seen the last 2 games. They don't seem to want to win ( -jimmy, he's always great) especially when they go down a goal or 2. Goodbye $95 (+30 for 3 beers) and 5 hours of my life (+ 1 hour waiting in various lines) OH, and the hawks looked bland, which means the wings looked really bland. For entertainment sake, the spectacle was much greater than the game.

What I expect out of 97.1 when i turn it on, say after a 2-0 win like last night is ripping howard, and hating on the wings because they didnt score 5 or more goals, have 3 fights, and the crowd didn't climb the glass and start fighting blackhawks. I feel like they say s*** just to get people on the phone lines. When it comes to Hockey, they are clueless, and what I'm also finding out is so are the people that call in.

Have to expect a crazy Hawks frenzy for game 4. Wings will have to match the intensity and capitalize on the Hawks mistakes from the get go. Great game, great win, great unraveling Hawks team. Complain about the penalties all you want, (bad officiating both ways to be honest) but the Red Wings are the opponent, not the refs. Silly Hawks. Oh, and our 3rd and 4 lines.... That's why we are up 2 games to 1 in the second round.

Just wait. Smith is gonna be a top notch player come a few years. He's very mobile, strong on his feet, has a wicked shot, and loves to get involved. Guys got tons of energy and brings it every game. When he learns a little bit how to harness all this energy, his turnovers and positioning will very much improve. When DK is healthy, that'll be quite the tandem. Smith isn't here for no reason, and one rookie season isn't going to cancel out all the years he had in our system. NHL Defense is an acquired skill. This is still his first year.

Our defense would look so much better with Stuart. Smith needs a better partner because he makes too many mistakes and a guy like Quincey isn't going to solidify that pair. We need a number 1 defenseman. Oh, and how come every other team hits the net with rocket hard shots from all over the ice, but the wings only get soft shots from the perimeter or miss the net on an open look? It's the little things that made our older Wings teams successful. Its the little things that makes this team not so good. If I was Babcock, I'd be ripping the hair out of my head being behind the bench for a full 60 minutes.

Tatar - Eaves - Tootoo should all be playing while Sammy, Bert, and Cleary take a seat.

After that giveaway that lead to the 2nd goal of game 6, plus the consistent lack of productivity... 3-3.5 mil at the very most. We need a center that can and will play in the center of the ice. Flip is good defensively, but shies away from the rough stuff and isn't great in the corners. He's a perimeter player that doesn't shoot, which is exactly what the Red Wings have an abundance of. If Helm comes back ever, plus Andersson...There's no room for a guy like Flip. I keep reading about how we should trade him. Can we? His contract is up after the playoffs, if I understand correctly, we can't trade UFA rights, only RFA?

If we had Helm + DK, This series would've been over in 5 games.

Our core players now are great compliments to the players that were the core back then (Yze, Feds, Shanny, Lidstrom etc.) The players we have up and coming aren't great compliments to the core we have now. (Our core is the problem) What we need now is either immediate compliments to to core, or hope for speedy development and "effective" veterans available at free agency time. We have a lot of young guys in the system and I feel like if they keep progressing at a rapid rate, a new core is not too far away.

I understand where you're going with that, but does it really matter? The fact that it was a clean hit trumps the bias card on any play, any day. On another note, does that fact that the player got injured make or break a good hockey play? And if that is the case, then wouldn't you have to take hitting out of the game completely? So now when a player is going in for the hit, it's solely his responsibility to make sure the player he is hitting doesn't get hurt. If Abdelkader gets hurt in game 2 when Souray hit him from behind at the end of the game, does Souray get ejected and suspended (that hit was more a dangerous hit then the one on topic BTW)? The way I see it, the inconsistency with the suspensions and penalties is doing more harm for the game than good. Tootoo needs to be in the lineup tomorrow and get top minutes to just run mad. It wont happen, but he is the only guy that can hit Anaheim and not have to worry about a headshot. Bottom line, Red Wings are *******, and it sucks even more when someone does land a big hit, its controversial. (Kronwall) This team needs a little less skilled Euro, and a little more North American man parts.

why cant Ericsson, Cleary, or Emmerton get hurt for the season D:

We shoot so much from the perimeter. It's really no wonder why opposing goalies look so good against us. And when we have an open look, the shot goes wide a good majority of the time, or so it seems. Combine that with a young, inexperienced, swiss cheese defense... And we have and team floating on the very ass end of the playoff picture. I understand that these are going to be down years for the Red Wings, but it didn't really have to come to this, and since it did, its a really boring brand of hockey. Whether you're in last place or 9th place, it doesn't really feel any better...so why not let all the up-and-comers play? I also wouldn't really feel bad if numbers 55, 52, 51, 93, 25, 17 and 20 weren't on the team moving forward, but who am I, I'm just a fan..a customer of the business that is the Detroit Red Wings. (and remember the customer is ALWAYS right ) I love Howard, but I wish Gustuvsson would play more. It's hard to be decent or consistent when you're only playing 1 game a month. As for Howard, the guy plays every game and very rarely has a bad one. How can anyone hate on that? The main issue is offense. Outside of Datsyuk, you cant rely on anyone else to make plays, especially plays in high percentage scoring areas. Having a fighter, or a bunch of skill guys, or two way players, it means nothing when no one can get to the middle of the ice and create space and offense. I haven't seen the goals from tonight but garbage goals and rebound goals are at an all time low for this team. And on the opposite, breakaways and shorthanded goals against are at an all time high.

Yes, having Suter would be a great addition, but what Kenny and Co. are doing is, instead of replacing the best defenseman ever with one or 2 players...in a few years, our Norris Candidate will be our entire defense. And they will all be signed to under 3-4 million (minus Kronwall)

I mean, not landing Suter and Parise shouldn't define his career. In fact, our team is much better off not having sign two players to 18-20 million dollars of contract money. And if the fans can't realize that we still have a playoff team despite our rebuilding, then they aren't really fans at all. I agree with 100 percent of what Kenny has, or hasn't done lately. Everyone wants to win the cup now, but its just not going to happen that way. Things take time now days. Just wait 2 or 3 years. This team will be a powerhouse.

I hope this is all non serious humor. There's a reason San Jose let him walk, there's a reason why he was non existent when he was not paired with Lidstrom last season, and there is a reason why he's not playing, and there's a reason why 4 rookies will get the opportunity over him. I'm sorry, but Smith, Kindl, Dekeyser all have a higher ceiling than White.

I'm sorry but exhaustion is no excuse! So they went to Europe and played in a league that's 75% of what the NHL is, then started the season here. Okay? So that's equivalent to almost a full year of NHL play. Zetterberg is a seasoned vet. This is his job. If the leader of the team is exhausted, what does that say about the rest of the team? If Brunner hasn't got the physical strength needed to play in the NHL with top minutes, then why is he in the NHL and not AHL? Denial can be a hard pill to swallow. Yes, he is very talented, and I hope he progresses 200% But guys like Nyquist or Tatar have been seasoning in the AHL and are both ready NHLers, why shouldn't they be on the big club over a guy like Brunner who hasn't proved anything, been drafted, or even been seasoned in the AHL?

I just wonder what the excuses will be if he tanks next year too (if we sign him). I can see it now, "It's his first full season, the workouts, the preseason, training camp, playing original six teams..he's tired and needs to adjust" blah blah blah. Good players show up. Bottom line.
