Mrazek must be doing something right because he wasn't even on the team when the season started and now Babcock has enough faith to go with him in the most important part of the season as the #1 goaltender. What's wrong with an ahl goalie playing well enough to start on a team like the Wings in a heated playoff race? Are we going to send him back down to the GR until he is ready to come up next year and go 20-0 and steal the Vezina away from Carey Price? With our putrid defense? Patrick Marleau was also an all star like Howard and he is one of the best magicians come playoff time as he finds ways to disappear. Howard the same..he disappeared against Boston last year..literally..and Gus came in and didn't play too bad. But surely the bubble wrap wears off and he's m.i.a. yet again. I think people should be happy that Mrazek has a winning record as a backup and certainly isn't playing any worse than the franchise goalie has been nor as injury prone as the backup has been. If there's anyone who should get cut some slack it's the rookie. It's like people want him to fail just because Howard hasn't amounted to what the Wing's franchise has expected from him after that nice contract he signed. Howard alone isn't gonna get us a #1 dman in return and who the hell is gonna take on a guy like Weiss' contract? I'd say give him one more chance if Mrazek poops the bed the next 2 games and if Jimmy poops too then see if he waves the no movement and we try a nice deal and send him Franzen and Weiss to NJ for Corey Schneider and Andy Greene. Lol

^^ I love Pav but I do agree that you simply have to be in there because this is why they play. This is a playoff game. Stay in the lineup until you solidify a playoff spot and then rest up til 4/15 but you gotta be in there now. He was flying in all the games he's been playing in including that last Islanders game. I'm not expecting a Stanley Cup especially with a fragile group of guys that can't stay in the lineup often and goaltending and defense that are downright cringe worthy. But I look at how we played up until about 6 weeks ago and how hard we came out last night for the first 2 periods and I know they're capable of hanging with the best teams out there.

Was going by someone who posted that Helen St. James stated Babcock put all of tonight's game on Mrazek. I was shocked and just found out it wasn't what he really said and yes if that was true, he has never thrown Jimmy under the bus as bad as this would've sounded.

Mrazek kept us from winning the game? Yet he's never uttered those words about Howard once the past 5 years? Wow...Hey Babcock how about figuring out how to beat Boston ever?

Defense sucks and as usual Mrazek keeps giving up bad goals in the 3rd but this blame is on Babcock. This team played like a bunch of scared children once the game was tied. They lost their composure and Babcock stands there showing no emotion or any type of urgency with this friggin season on the line and can we work on this too many men on the ice garbage? That's an absurd penalty in so many of these big games. What is up with the coaching. How hard is it to hop on the ice after the guy who is supposed to come off, comes off?

How can one team allow themselves to get insanely owned by the same team over and over and over again? I'm embarrassed to be a fan of this team after this meltdown. I'm sorry but the fans at the Joe should be livid after the gutless play at home over the last 5 weeks.

The coach needs to regroup his team after the blown 2 goal lead and he simply didn't. We've been playing scared as usual and that's that.

That Bruin goal looked like an offside to me. Maybe I didn't see it clear enough but I could've sworn that was offsides.

I agree. He should be on the same line as Datsyuk so he can maybe get some offense going. Problem? Datsyuk is in and out of this lineup quite often.

I wouldn't be shocked if Z was hiding an injury or if his back is just ailing whenever he skates. He's getting older and no doubt those long contracts can come back to bite ya. But he is no lazy player. Slow, poor decision making maybe lately. But he isn't a bad captain and once it's playoff time, he usually shines no matter how badly he goes in slumping. Lidstrom would be going through these same problems if he were still here and captain. This team lacks depth and leadership on defense and they absolutely do not have that physical snarl you need to go deep into the playoffs. Goaltending can't be relied on to steal games every night so it's a recipe for disaster against teams like Boston, Ottawa or Montreal. But we showed we can play with most of the league this year(especially the Western Conference). Maybe when the injured guys(Datsyuk, Cole, Sheahan..probably not Franzen) come back we can ride a hot Mrazek with nothing to lose into the playoffs and maybe make some noise. Just trying to be positive here while things might look a bit grim.

Can't wait to play Boston. We always beat them.

The way we're playing in this 3rd period is cringe worthy. Where is the urgency and intensity?

Can we just control this 3rd period here guys and come out hard? This is like a playoff all game here.

Haha @ NHL 94. That's just awesome! This game is huge. Can we please come out playing hard and not let up? Here's to enough goals to win, not enough shots by the other team and solid goaltending on our part. Let's go Wings!

If you think Mick is bad you've yet to hear Butch Goring. He said Mrazek seems to have his mask fall off at the most convenient times. Still doesn't realize there's no letter e in the name Kronwall and won't stop calling Helm, Datsyuk. I am forced to watch him cause center ice is blacked out where I live.

I'm worried about Zetterberg. Worst I've seen him look since he's been with us unless he's hurt again and we don't know it. What else is new? Anyways this guy Halak doesn't exactly look like Stanley Cup Jonathan Quick out there.

Deplorable goaltending. My god. Night and day with this team. You give up a breakaway goal to pile of trash Clutterbuck and you know where this game's heading.
