We can't afford to lose these important games down the stretch. I know the defense is terrible but our backup goalie has 4 regulation losses in 22 games. Maybe we can play him when the starting goalie keeps giving up 3-5 goals a game and 99% of these goals seem like they come in the 3rd period and usually with a 2 goal lead. I know you wanna rely on the dude who's making the money but at this point I would think you have to go with whatever works. At least give it a try. Can't hurt. Whether you love, hate or worship Jimmy we can all see that he simply doesn't have it this year. We scored 3 goals in the 3rd and still lost. He is the last man back. His mechanics are off and he has got zero confidence this year. I feel bad for him and of course I wanna see him do well but Babcock has to do whatever it takes to win. Bert, Kindl and Quincey do not deserve roster spots. The youth is what is keeping us in this playoff race. Andersson hasn't proven he deserves one either. The playoffs are within reach and you can't keep playing guys that cannot and will not get it done for us.

Howard is the worst 3rd period goalie I've ever seen.

I hope the interested Franzen shows up soon or we are gonna miss. Gotta grow a pair in these close games and really want it. These 3rd periods are a horror show. I like Bert but he stinks. Plain and simple. Slow and always called for penalties whether he is really guilty or not. He's a liability. Kindl plays about half of how big he is on the ice. Leaders gotta be leaders now.

Bad. Outplayed in pretty much every aspect. Out muscled and beaten by another backup goalie. I can't name anyone on the BJ's that are great but man we made Brandon Dubinsky look like Stamkos. As bad as we played, the game was still winnable. Can we trade Howard every 3rd period? Just once I'd love him to not give up a goal in the 3rd period.

Tough game. Let's kick their ashes tonight and continue on into the playoffs. Get these kids revved up. Let's do this, Wings!

Looks like Bab's more skill doesn't beat more team motto proved right on the money. We are a very shaky and scary team to watch but we could be a very dangerous playoff team with Z and D back. Now we have to make it to show we belong there. Not gonna get any easier. I hope we finish off the season the way we did last year. Nice win but we are gonna need our best winning streak of the year now. Go Wings!

Wow..here comes the biggest, most important stretch of our season. I hate Pittsburgh and I hope each of their players gets a nice dose of irritable bowel syndrome. Time to step up boys. I'm all for mule speaking up. I like that. Coaching also tends to be overlooked. This goes a long way. Babs isn't bad but there's just something about these horrific 3rd periods that make you scratch your head and wonder why they can't play harder and smarter when the other teams decide to bring it. I mean the defense has been downright scary in every 3rd period and clutch saves don't seem to exist either. I just can't understand why they poop the bed in the final 20 minutes of every game.

Alfredsson the past month is looking like Modano when he was a Wing.

Is Helm out for 2 years again? That guy needs calcium or maybe he should be bubble wrapped from head to toe when and if he ever comes back on the ice.

I was really praying Mrazek would have a solid game. Now people might still actually stick up for Howard's horrendous season. The dude is awful in overtime, awful in the 3rd period and has been mechanically terrible all season. He couldn't get us past the 2nd round with Nick, Kronner,Raf or Stuart still playing in front of him. His statistical numbers of mediocrity are staggering. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that our defense is bad. But that goalie that is making the elite goalie money has to step up. Guys like Hasek that stand on their head in front of average teams like he did with the Sabres really earn the money. This team is still patching up holes with has-beens like Bertuzzi. Guys like Abdelkader playing on the 1st line and constantly recalling a mediocre Cory Emmerton to fill in for a mediocre Andersson. Guys like Helm that seem to break bones, tear tendons or get herniated discs when they are breathed on. You cannot expect Johan Franzen and a few GR prospects to fix these woes. Alfredsson is not even half as good as Jagr when Jagr turns 50. I think Tootoo has more ice time than Weiss this year. Only on this forum can a goalie go 15-4-3 and get chastised. The man is a friggin backup goaltender. What exactly do you expect? This team has done nothing since that Devil game in every aspect. Goalie,pp, defense, back checking, and offense. 2 much needed wins. Even the coach fails to motivate. Crosby was out like a year and a half for Pitts and they got 1st seed, Ducks have had guys out all year, Tampa with no Stamkos. Injuries cannot be an excuse 4 years in a row. You have to want it and I just don't see that and the inconsistency proves it. Going all out, banging the bodies and a sense of urgency is all missing. Sad thing is, even if we had Zetts and D we still aren't a scary team. We get thrown around and still lose shootouts, blow 2-3 goal leads and fall apart in 3rd periods. Sometimes I think the lack of 60 minute efforts has to fall on the coach's shoulders. I've seen a huge lack of effort coming from a very desperate team the last 4 games. Even the Devil game was a disgrace. Why can't our veterans play the way Jagr and Brodeur are playing at a combined age of like 82? I know in a perfect world we'd win the Cup every year but this team looks uninspired to say the least. It's tough to watch for us all but that's why we are here on these forums so we can let out our frustrations as fans. Getting a little ticked off doesn't make us bad fans. Shows we care. We are not all trolls, are we?

Unimpressive group of guys right there. DD has some maturing to do but he shows promise and him and E make the best passes out of our zone. E has been a bit shaky lately but he isn't bad. Kronwall has been putting up some points and he's been a top 10 defenseman in the league this year I'd say. Smith is playing better, especially his offensive pinches. Lashoff is ok but doesn't add anything to our scoring. But Quincey and Kindl have been brutal to watch. Couple of bad brain farts by all these guys this year though. No one excluded. Tough year so far. This plus pitiful goaltending are dooming us this season. Thankfully our GR prospects have shined. A nice future to look forward to if we can fix these obvious issues.

Ericsson has had maybe the worst two weeks of hockey his entire career. Quincey is still here and Lundqvist vs. Howard. Need I say more? Rangers play better defense than the Devils. They played with more heart and urgency today. Missing the playoffs might wake up management unfortunately.

What does it take to get this team to play their hearts out and put up a winning streak? This is such an important game. Looks like they and management are just praying for a playoff birth and that would be a success. I can't stand this inconsistency. So disappointing. Where's the urgency?

Not a good way to send Lids up to the rafters. Non clutch 3rd period goaltending and serious breakdowns on defense in overtime seem to be an ongoing trend. Very, very tough season for us fans to deal with. Now that's 2 straight opponents we've outplayed and we have gotten only 1 point out of it. Well at least Legwand played well I thought. Hurts to say it but I think there's too many teams battling for that 8th spot and we are one inconsistent bunch this year. This team is gonna need to grow a pair just to make it.
