I agree. Although I wouldn't fire him, I'd make sure he knew that his stay here with Detroit isn't a guarantee and not feel too comfortable about losing. With the team we have we shouldn't be relying on nail biters for wins and just flat out get blown out in our losses. Losses to Pitt, St. Lou, SJ and Boston all 4-1 this year shows this team lacks guts to come back. When these decent teams turn it up a notch, the Wings turn into little girls. There's a lot of history with this franchise and these 2 win-4 loss sequences are getting played out now. Bring up Mrazek if these two other guys can't goaltend. Where the hell is Lashoff? Grrr.

Sure could use Datsyuk. He must really be hurt since he hasn't played since that awesome Winter Classic game. I would trade Aldredsson and two Weiss' for Jagr. This team is not gonna get it's s*** together with all these god damn distractions. Olympics, outdoor games and and injury bugs that spread to 9 guys at a time.

This team has a problem scoring. We need a nice puck moving defenseman who can actually unload a shot that has a good chance of hitting the opposing goalie. If this was 2002 we would be able to pick up two 30 goal scoring veterans with some grit and take the workload off of Datsyuk and Z. They are not young enough to be durable for an entire season + playoffs anymore and the team is weak without them and there is no one else who knows how to score consistently. There really aren't any great players available. Just some solid players that desperate teams with cap space are willing to shell monumental amounts of money at. Weiss has been a huge bust and Franzen is our best goal scorer and he never plays. Stay young and try to unload all that dead weight. Dats and Z will be gone in a few years and maybe their leadership can run off on our potential future stars. I'm definitely accepting that we are not a Cup contender when we are healthy because I believe we cannot win with the defense and starting goaltending we are rolling with now. We had Rafalski, Lids and Stuart in front of Howard from 2010-2013 and we still didn't get past the 2nd round. Now we have Quincey and Smith brainfarting back on defense and pretty bad goaltending this year. Even with a healthy lineup, I think the Cup is very far from our grasp.

Z and Dats aren't gonna get traded. Simple as that. Anyone else except Howard(I'd get rid of him in a heartbeat, though,if we can get another starting goalie in return), Kronwall and probably Dekeyser can be moved.

It's even a bigger shame that Timmy , Niemi and Crawford seem to look like Brodeur/Roy in their primes on super serum against us.

Way to bounce back after that debacle against Florida. Geez..if Howard was in we would've probably beaten the Flyers like 8-0.

I don't see Weiss on the playoff roster if we do make it. He is going to be coming off another injury. Not sure how he'll do better than he was and he was pretty much useless. We are gonna need energy for the playoffs and we have enough kids to make that happen. I'd love to see Cleary and Bertuzzi off this roster eventually asap. Tatar, Datsyuk,Alfredsson Franzen, Z, Nyquist Sheahan, Helm,Abdelkader Miller, Andersson, Glendening This would be my ideal lineup. Not bad if everyone can stay healthy.

Why does Gustavsson get ripped on here? He's 13-3-4. Howard has been atrocious this year aside from maybe not even a handful of games. Come on. Yes Gus wasn't amazing but he's the friggin backup and we would be down where Florida is in the standings if not for the season he is having. The only shootout losses he loses seem to be the ones where not one Wings shooter can net one in during it. This defense is bad. Giving up breakaways to this garbage team is mind boggling. The first period was a snoozer too. I also saw Cleary on a few power plays(when he wasn't in the box putting his team on the pk). Seriously, Babcock? Dekeyser was very shaky, Kronwall too and Smith either looks amazing or poops the bed. Costly loss. This team needs to get better on defense...and fast. It's not like we can rely on elite goaltending, especially when Howard is back. As long as they are not injured, Babcock just continues to stick with the guys who deserve to be sitting. People can blame Gus(especially the Howard fanboys, come on people, just admit he's been awful. I like him too but let's be realistic here.) but I'd say this loss was more on the coaching and defense. Well...Philly next and they always bring it against us(as does everyone) so if this team wants to grow a pair, now is the time to do it and start beating the teams they should.

Good job by this team to not give up and keep a constant push. I'd love for them to continue this and start a nice winning streak. Not to put a damper on anything but I'm still not impressed with Chicago's goaltending or defense. I know they have their Cups and their offense is insane but I don't think they're gonna repeat. Just my opinion and not just because we won last night. But man that team can score...

Tootoo is a nice energy spark and Babcock not playing him because he fights is asinine. What did this organization expect from Tootoo when they signed him? Anyways, there's no way he is a caliber of a leader that Z is. If you're expecting more from Z then Z better learn to pass to himself using the boards or something cause no one, aside from Tatar, knows how to put the god damn puck in the net. We aren't functioning well in most of the hockey aspects. We aren't scoring, we are giving up over 35 shots every game now, no clutch goaltending and a very weak, non physical unit out there playing mistake riddled defense. I don't agree with these lines. We need scoring and if we need to score more than 1 goal then we will have to put our best scorers on the same line right now. Putting Nyquist with Bertuzzi or Tatar with Cleary isn't gonna get us goals. Guys like Tatar and Jurco need to be out on the pp with Z. I like Babcock but I feel like I don't see a motivated bunch and these veteran plugs are useless. Still plenty of season left and I don't fear anyone in the East from the 4th seed down so definitely have time to right the ship.

Weiss has been one of the worst signings ever and Alfredsson, though very good on the pp,hasn't played too much in a season where we need everyone to kinda give a bit more than usual. I know everyone is hurt but sometimes you wonder when they lose all these close, important games if the coach is reassuring these players how hungry they have to be.

Ironic. The very rare few times this year that Howard earns the salary and we are hideous on offense. I know everyone loves "King" Henrik but he was not amazing by any standard. He made key saves when he had to. We got a few good chances but our offense was nothing special last night. Howard made much bigger saves and faced more quality shots and although that goal was pitiful, someone should have played with some snarl and knocked Zuccarello on his ass like real defensemen do professionally. This team needs to be 100% healthy to make the playoffs and how often do we play with the lineup we are supposed to be icing? Not often. Allowing all these shots on goal is the norm lately. The Rangers announcers were speaking about how un-red wing-like allowing 40-50 shots a game it is. Sad thing is it really isn't anymore. I'm not giving up because, when healthy, they can still be a force but it looks like another "pray we get healthy and claw our way back into contention." This time in the mighty Eastern Conference. Ps...There are no words to describe the waste of crucial ice space we lose with guys like Cleary, Quincey, Samuelsson, Bertuzzi and Kindl. Kindl gets tossed around like he's the size of Martin St. Louis and every other guy he's up against looks as big as Chara. Bertuzzi had 2 odd man rushes and couldn't find a way to pass to two wide open players. As for the other 3, I can't even mention their names without laughing.
