It looks like this team and organization is still living in the past. This sure as hell isn't 2008. I've seen teams with less talent(Islanders) give their all and still lose yet play hard from the opening drop of the puck til the final horn. That's a lot more acceptable than skating around and thinking wins will fall into your lap. I see no fire from players or coaches. Did Babcock remind these guys how pitiful they've been against San Jose the past 5 years? Howard is an atrocity. This is not the man I want back there as the last resort when we need a big save. Defense is bad, no doubt, but man the goalie outplays no one regardless of what other team or what other goalie is out there.

I'm worried about these injuries. Are we a playoff team when healthy? I think so. Can we stay healthy? I don't think so. There's always someone hurt. We were finally on a roll 2 months ago and then we lost practically everyone. Never icing our best players. The way this team is built, we need everyone healthy. The good thing is I see a nice core of rookies filling in and doing pretty well. Our backup goalie has been a big surprise keeping us in the playoff hunt. Our starting goalie has to rise up second half. We all knew the defense was gonna take a hit when our hall of famers retired. A hot goalie can win a Cup with a hungry team. I'm not convinced Jimmy can win us a Cup but I'd love him to prove me wrong. Guys like Helm are such spark it's a big shame he can't stay healthy. Weiss, Quincey and Cleary are awful. Kindl gets an honorable mention for suckiness also. All well. Maybe a trade is in the making. Team is doing worse than I expected but we've been spoiled for over 2 decades. Season isn't over yet. Let's see what happens. Go Wings!

I always give the nod to Zetterberg. I love Dats gets a bit cold come playoff time. He's obviously more skilled and he's also amazing. He's flashier, dazzles, stick handles usually in high gear. Probably less injury prone too. I don't think people that aren't Wings fan understand how awesome Zetts is though. He just makes things happen. He is very clutch, he takes mean hits, backchecks, he's a streaky scorer for a playmaker. I see Dats sometimes in the playoffs and he will try to make too many dekes and turn the puck over in big games and sometimes you don't even hear his name mentioned. It's a difficult choice but Zetts just seems to do a bit more and work harder when it counts. I think that's why he's the C.

Howard is putrid this year. I'm so used to this crap. I'm not pumped about this season anymore.

We got shut out at home by the Islanders(worst defense in the entire league) and given up 5 to Nashville(they score 2.28 goals per game) and Howard gets outplayed by every goalie on every team(starter, backup or first nhl game ever). Horrible season. Babcock's message doesn't get through anymore. Most of our guys back and this is the crap we ice?

Babcock hasn't made too many adjustments these few years versus Nashville. It's just the same gameplan by them. They never seem to look offensively anemic against us as they do the rest of the NHL.

We don't seem to be a very intimidating team to play against.

Another unprepared game from the get go against another horrible team. Swept by Florida, blown out by the Ducks and Penguins. Injuries or not, this is piss poor hockey. Wake up,Red Wings! Geez man...

I think coaching has a lot to do with it. Yes we get injured a lot. But we aren't the only team that has to overcome injuries. I remember a few years ago Crosby barely played for a good year and a half yet Pittsburgh was up in the standings putting up points, top 3 best record in the NHL without a real goalie or any real stay at home defenseman. I know they're a good team, Malkin is a beast and they get offensive contributions from their defense as well but we have a lot of talent even with the injuries...of course that was before Nyquist, Franzen and Abby went down. Getting swept by Florida and Tampa(making Bishop and Thomas look like Brodeur in his prime), not scoring on a big 5 minute major or responding to Abby getting illegally rocked is showing me that these guys do not seem to have enough motivation. I feel like I rarely see Babcock show emotion and maybe that would've been necessary ever since game 7 of the 09 Cup. These guys have to respect the jerseys they wear because no one else around the league seems to respect them anymore. There is no one scary on this team coming up the ice with the capability of just sniping one in with a rocket shot like so many times has happened to us the past few years(Datsyuk, Zetts are playmakers, Franzen needs energetic linemates as motivation but we just truly lack a legit sniper). Fact is, I see a lot more jump from teams with a lot less talent. We will all be happy when everyone is back, no doubt. But this team seems to act like they've lost before the puck is even dropped at the start of the game.

Well as much as I hate illegal hits in the Nhl, it couldn't have happened to a bigger ******(Getzlaf). This is bad hockey. At least if you aren't gonna score,play defense or goaltend...hustle maybe? I want to play NHL 14 and pick any team against the Red Wings so I can throw a mean hit on Cleary and fight Quincey then save and exit. Thankfully it's a long season so we can hopefully turn this around. Ironic that we move to the easier conference,have an alumni game with all our favorite past players in it and a winter classic yet we are playing this bad.

I'm not sure if it's a lack of preparing and getting fired up before a game like this where they know they haven't been winning at all at home or maybe we just aren't talented because I see a huge lack of scoring, whether it's a shootout or regulation. I'm so disappointed. I am not gonna use these injury excuses as a fan of this team. I really have not seen too many games where we come out hungry. Coaching seems off. I would think a game against this team at home would fire us up. I'm not impressed. We haven't matched up well against the better teams in the East.

Abby gets nailed, no one steps in to enforce, not too many great setups on a 5 minute power play. Sad. Playing without balls tonight.

Tough..thankfully monster has played in about 12 games this year so he's not jimping in rusty. Get better Howie and hopefully you'll bounce back when you're healthy and play awesome.

We are all fans and no real fan would say Jimmy Howard is trash and I hope someone kills off his bloodline because that's absurd. I'm a fan of hockey and I could care less about what these guys do in their spare time. Of course giving to charities and visiting people that are terminally ill are amazing gestures. But I watch this because it is an entertaining sport and to see how well these guys that are out there can perform. If Jimmy doesn't perform well on ice than he has to sit and we hand it over to whomever is winning. We did it with Hasek and Ozzie. Fans on these forums wanting Howard to sit does not make them any less of a fan than the guys that love him. Took 8 rounds to beat Gus last night in the shootout. He's been solid and deserves to start. Just because he came here to backup Jimmy doesn't mean he sucks. I'm really happy he is playing well because if he wasn't, we'd be the laughing stock of the Eastern Conference today. I'm shocked how bad our guys are in the shootout. It looks like Datsyuk is being blackmailed by mobsters. All our big guns were in and they were pooped on by Bishop. Maybe we should send out Kronwall and Quincey in the next shootout. I hope we fix a few things and take it to Pittsburgh.
