WCQF Game 5 GDT : Red Wings 1 at Predators 2

well apparently we are still sleepwalking our walk through this..We bring it in, lose it, and they come down and get a great scoring chance. Rinse and Repeat. This is crazy. -

yup this is ridiculous. Preds are happy to let the wings pass it from point to point and back to the corner. Shoot the damn puck. Never know what kind of deflections it could get. It doesn't have to be pretty boys. Babcock better wake these guys up, if we go down by 2, that's it. We have to get the next goal -

agreed on Nyquist, he looks awesome. Lidstrom stop with the shot off the boards already, especially on the road. -

I see your point, and agree. If we could get something good for Flip, then maybe we should consider it. Fact is Detroit have to act this summer. We can't stand pat again. It's not like the days when we'd run the Central. Chicago is still good, St Louis has gotten really good, and Nashville is solid, even if they lose Suter...If they lose Suter and then Weber a year later, then that will seriously hurt them, but next year they will be there again. If we do nothing, we are looking at 5th,6th in the West next season, and another tough playoff matchup, against the likes of Nash/SJ/LA. -

Agreed. We'd probably have to take a hit in what we'd get back in return, but I'd accept that just to shed the contract. He's the kind of player the leafs would go for actually. Whether they want that contract is another story. -

Although we are down 3-1, it's been close. It could easily have ended in a sweep for the Preds after tonight, it could also easily be 2-2 after tonight. Flip's been awful all series long, but I don't think we should be trading him. He broke out this season, and he's still got a massive upside. He can be a big player with us in the future. Franzen on the other hand, although he was our top scorer this year, he plays when he feels like, and he hasn't done much this playoff either. I also don't like his lifetime contract. He's the one we should be trying to move. I love Lidstrom, 2nd best defenceman of all time behind Orr, but it's time for him to hang it up. Last year I was praying he'd come back, this series he looks past it I'm afraid. Homer as well should call it, and we need to let Stuart walk. That gives us plenty of cap room to go HARD after Ryan Suter. Obviously I'd love Parise as well, but Suter needs to be priority. I also think if we sign Suter, that gives us a serious leg up on the Weber sweepstakes next summer. -

I didn't...Until I saw the Canucks struggle. Then I realized if we could get past the Preds we could possibly do something. Think about it. If either the Blues or the Coyotes lose their series, and we win, we'd have home ice in round 2. (this is all assuming LA beats Vancouver) However, we haven't been nearly good enough against the Preds. I'm a big fan of Howard, but he was brutal tonight. Lidstrom, not sure whether he's hurt, or just past it, but he hasn't looked good all series. Stuart's blocked alot of shots, but he's made some serious blunder. Ericsson can look good one minute, and then lazy with terrible passes the next. Flip, Hudler (even though he scored), Franzen, Bert (aside from Game 2), haven't shown up for the series. As people have said, we have to stop this board play, we aren't getting pure chances. Yeah alot of shots, but most of them awful. Still holding out hope for Friday, But i've got a bad feeling..I will say i think if we can win Game 5, just like last year we will win game 6 at home and send it to a 7th game, where anything can happen. But Friday night is going to be tough...One things for sure, Howard and our D have to be rock solid. -
While playing Dallas or Phoenix wouldn't be bad. I think we need to avoid that 6th spot, because there is still a very good chance that the Sharks will grab 3rd, and I would prefer to avoid them in the first round. Finishing 4th would be nice, because at least it gives us home ice in round 1, and possibly later rounds if lower seeds advance. Next 3 games are against weaker opponents, we really need maximum points.
