It's great to see them gone. I absolutely hate that team.
-
I don't remember any particulars, but MLive says: I'll see if I can find something more specific.
-
Redmond said Thursday most likely.
-
Yeah, Babcock just said in an NBC interview that Osgood's starting Game 1. Osgood has been extremely solid...he's totally relaxed.
-
Zetterberg, Datsyuk, and Draper have rotated all season.
-
Why put all your eggs in one basket? Putting Franzen on the first line just lessens the Wings' scoring depth. Granted Zetterberg is cold right now, but he'll come around (knock on wood). Anyway, I'll say it again: where are all the people who were talking about how useless Franzen was? Time for some crow.

Avery is an ******* but he definitely did his job. This just proves it.
-
The last two champions ('Canes '06 and Ducks '07) finished the playoffs with different goaltenders (Ward and Giguere) than they started with (Gerber and Bryzgalov). Just throwing that out there.

Babcock made the right decision. Thumbs up to Hasek for not throwing a fit.

I usually don't get involved with these threads, but I think tonight (and Game 3) proved that Hasek just doesn't have it anymore. There are still flashes of the old Dominator but something's missing. He looks unbeatable down low at times but he's let in some shots that should be routine saves for a player of his caliber. His inconsistency just won't cut it in the playoffs. The Wings have broken down defensively, but they cannot always play perfectly. That's what the goalie is there for. He gave up backbreaking goals -- Legace '06-esque goals. Osgood stepped in, looked calm and collected, and played a solid game. He should definitely start the next game. Hasek's blown it. If Hasek pitches a fit over this I'll lose a lot of respect for the guy. The Wings have had incredible faith in him this year when he has been incredibly up-and-down. He was labeled the starter while he was injured even though Osgood was playing lights out. You never heard a peep from Osgood then. Hasek should follow suit.

Wow, I didn't realize the Wings' PP is 1 for 10 this series. That definitely needs improvement.
-
Eva, this takes the whole stats thing too far. Much too far. Much, much too far.
-
Wilson should've been fired a long time ago.

I liked all the Wings-Ducks games.
-
God it's great seeing Anaheim lose.
-
What? Lidstrom's on the list...it's not in any sort of order.
-
It was clear that Drake was brought here for the post-season. Hopefully he has a good run left in him. In Babock's words, he will make the Wings tougher to play against and that's why he was signed.
-
Keep it, of course.

It doesn't make much sense from a financial standpoint, but there were rumors out of Buffalo that the Wings had a deal in place for Campbell at the deadline. I think the rumored deal was Kronwall for Campbell and Stafford. I just don't see how the Wings could fit in another $5+ million defenseman. He'd be redundant here...Stuart at least brings a physical element.

Looks great, Matt. Thanks a lot.

Isn't Datsyuk signing with Washington after this season?
-
Holland said Game 2 at the latest.

Commodore is a 6'5" 230 pound warrior -- exactly the type of guy the Wings could use on the blue line. Liles may be a better all-around player, but the Wings already have Lidstrom, Kronwall, Lebda, and Rafalski signed beyond this season. Lidstrom is the best defenseman in the game but Kronwall, Lebda, and Rafalski are small and offensive-minded. I'm not saying they're not good defensemen but they are all prone to getting beat along the boards by big forwards. Commodore grinds it out in tough areas and will punish opposing forwards.
-
Commodore. Liles would be extremely redundant here. The Wings don't need another undersized offensive defenseman.
-
Naslund will be gone. Linden could go either way. Luongo stays for sure. I actually wouldn't mind having Naslund here. The guy has heaps of talent and was probably the best forward in the league a few years ago. Throw him on a team like Detroit where he'd be playing second fiddle to Datsyuk and Zetterberg and he might thrive with less pressure and responsibility.
