Well Lebda most definitely isn't a defensive defenseman either.
-
It's too bad there's such a rivalry between Detroit and Carolina, politically at least. They'd make great trading partners. Kindl, Kronwall, Lebda, Cole, and Williams come to mind.
-
They've already been shut out by Nashville. No team can score 4-5 goals a game. They're gonna have a hard time with teams like the Wings.
-
The biggest question for Colorado this year is whether or not their great offense can compensate for an average-to-above average defense and very average goaltending.
-
Hossa doesn't like Atlanta, that's what I've read anyway. When is the last time you saw a contender trade an elite player for an elite player at the deadline? I'm sorry, but there's no way a team that thinks they have a shot at the Cup will trade one of their current stars at the trade deadline. An elite prospect? Sure. Current player? No. Nashville wasn't prepared to trade Kariya/Arnott/Timonen/Legwand/Vokoun/Sullivan/etc. to Philadelphia for Forsberg last year, were they? Yeah, Datsyuk was soft and invisible in the playoffs at this time last year too.
-
No they wouldn't. If they're going to deal Hossa it's going to be because they're out of playoff contention and they'll trade him to a contender as opposed to losing him for nothing as a UFA. No contender is going to give up a big piece of their current team. It's going to take a lot of picks and prospects.
-
If I were Holland I'd be willing to give up a lot for Hossa as long as he'd sign here.

I used to be a huge Coke drinker, at least one a day. I decided to stop in July, I beleive. I'm 5' 10" and weighed 179 then. I stopped drinking it and replaced it with water...now I have maybe one pop a month. I just weighed myself and I'm at 158. Unreal!
-
No, but that's part of the learning process. Grigorenko has a shot at becoming a top-six threat that the Wings need. Aaron Downey is what he is.
-
What, exactly, is Downey going to "enforce" from the press box? ...or the instigator rule for that matter?
-
Are you basing this off of what Pierre McGuire said on the predictions show?
-
What? Hasek a top seven fantasy pick? No.
-
I just stumbled onto this Ansar Khan article. I remember seeing it when he first posted it, but it made me think about all of the Luongo hype last summer. Does anyone have any more information or hearsay about the whole offer sheet thing? How close was Luongo to becoming a Wing? I've heard stories saying he was all ready to move to Detroit and others saying there was no chance.
-
I think Dreger is TSN's best analyst; it's too bad they don't have his pick.
-
Oh, really? Because I could've sworn that going to camp on a try-out basis is all about proving to the coaches, i.e. trying out, that you're good enough to cut it right away -- not 3 weeks down the road. Sopel isn't anything to whine about.
-
According to the TSN article, the Wings offered him a contract.
-
Why? Because you recognize his name? He was exceedingly mediocre in his time here.
-
More of the Wings' leftovers go to the 'Hawks. Lang, Williams, Lapointe, and now Sopel.
-
Two years, $8 million is too much of a gamble for Bertuzzi at this point in his career.
-
Matthias - probably another wasted promising prospect..

So you're saying you envy serious prospect ranks over Stanley Cups? -
Here's the link. I know it doesn't mean anything; just passing it along.
-
This is a pretty typical pre-season injury. Nothing to worry about.
-
He's not necessarily "cheap" but he did accept the Wings offer over a larger one, because Detroit is his hometown.
