Do you mean drafted players or undrafted players? Hockey's Future is always good.
-
Yves Racine, anyone?

I went to the barbershop today to get a trim and ended up with a buzz cut! I just figured, "What the hell? It'll grow back." I usually have pretty long hair (longer than in this picture): Here's the new look: Big difference for me! I think this is the shortest my hair has been since birth.

Totally different roles. Drake makes the Wings harder to play against...hopefully. Lang could be counted on for at least 50 points.
-
I hope you're not serious.
-
Good points. I'm hoping Zetterberg can stay healthy, because I think he can put up 100 points if he does. I also think Hudler will score 25-35 goals if given regular minutes. I'm looking forward to seeing Filppula in a regular role too. I'm excited to see if Grigorenko can play in this league. I agree with you about Rafalski, I think he's going to absolutely flourish in the Wings' system. It's perfect for the game he plays.
-
Who is out there that can score? Oh, that's right, no one -- unless you think Yashin or Lindros would be good additions.
-
The Wings will still be able to afford pretty much anyone at the deadline, assuming they start the season with this roster.
-
What, exactly, did our second line contribute in the post-season? A couple flukey goals from Lang? Don't get me wrong, those goals were huge -- but he was a non-factor for the rest of the playoffs. Filppula was better in the playoffs than Lang and even Hudler was pretty good in the Calgary series.

Here's to all of you guys who think Holland is twiddling his thumbs. MLive: There's more, but this covers the issues that most people are panicking about.
-
Oh yeah, I forgot about Lilja. I was just thinking of Meech because he can't go back down to GR.
-
Our defense would be pretty unreal if he does end up re-signing. Lidstrom-Markov Rafalski-Kronwall Lebda-Chelios Meech
-
Eklund is Dwayne Klessel.
-
I was thinking the same thing. His account isn't listed under members either. Weird...did he change his username?
-
Eklund? Bulls***? No way.

I'm in favor of Holland adding someone that can bang to the third or fourth line. I'm just not going to get all hung up on it, because these guys aren't all that hard to find. By the way, our team is tough. It seems like everyone discounts the Europeans or small guys. Didn't the playoffs disprove that theory? Zetterberg and Datsyuk showed they can take a beating and still produce. Holmstrom is one of the toughest guys in the league, pretty easily. The Wings stood up to three of the toughest teams in the league admirably, and now we have virtually the same team minus the dead weight.
-
As I've said in other threads, no one guy is going to be the solution to our toughness problem. Toughness is a philosophy. I'd have no problem with Holland bringing in Asham or Winchester to play on the third or fourth line. What I'm saying is people on these boards go around coveting guys like this like they're one of a kind when really they're closer to a dime a dozen.
-
I think your definition of toughness and Holland's definition of toughness differ. I see toughness as guys that battle every night and pay the price to score over and over again. Yzerman was toughness. Cleary is toughness. In fact, this whole team is pretty tough, as evidenced by last year's playoffs.
-
Doesn't it tell you something when the "horrid Oilers" didn't re-sign him? Torres can play, but he's lazy.
-
How could Holland be so naive? Brad Winchester is the difference maker we've been looking for!
-
He's done signing because there's no one out there worth it to sign. What do you want him to do?
-
Um, our UFA's were Lang, Calder, Bertuzzi, Schneider, and Hasek. He wanted to sign two defensemen, whether it be Schneider and another UFA or two new UFA's. Schneider left and he signed an upgrade in his place. That leaves one more defenseman. He was never going to offer Lang or Calder contracts. The only one you can make an argument for is Bertuzzi, but 8 million over two years is too big of a risk. He wanted to sign one top six forward, whether it be Bertuzzi or someone else. That's the only thing he's failed on so far, but there's still 2-3 months until the season begins. He replaced Schneider with Rafalski. He signed Hasek. How was he supposed to know that Bertuzzi was going to garner something ridiculous on the open market? That's not his fault. It's Anaheim's fault for overpaying. Markov is still out there, but he's replaceable. It's not like he's a one of a kind player.
-
What goal scorers signed for reasonable amounts?
-
His goals were to get two defensemen and a forward. He dumped the dead weight and upgraded from Schneider to Rafalski. He's going to sign a depth defensemen. Unless you think it would've been smart to add Guerin for $4.5 or Bertuzzi for $4, he's done a fine job. The prices for forwards were outrageous. It's better to save cap space than to overpay for someone he doesn't think would fit.
