Holland mentioned it for the first time earlier today, I believe.

I'd like to see Bertuzzi back but it's not the end of the world if he signs elsewhere. He's a big risk and I don't blame Holland one bit for not wanting him long-term. Back injuries don't just go away, neither does that emotional baggage. Guerin, Kozlov, and Zubrus are the guys I'd be looking at if something can't be worked out with Bertuzzi.

It was six years, $40 million.
-
He turned down a six-year, $40 million offer for the Wings' offer of five years, $30 million.
-
Another thing to think about is that Rafalski is a proven number one defenseman. Lidstrom may not be around for much longer, and Rafalski can step in comfortably. Granted, he's not as good as Nick, but who is?
-
Niedermayer is most likely gone. Their defense isn't that good anymore. Remember that they only had the big three last year. The rest of their defense was spare parts, Schneider can't play 30 minutes a night like Niedermayer.
-
It's not like he signed in Chicago. He went to the defending Cup champions and he lives in LA.
-
Schneider signs with the Ducks, 5.5 million a year for 2 years.
-
Zednik and McLean to the Panthers.
-
I'm listening to XM 204.
-
Poti to Washington.
-
Link Good deal for the Sharks.
-
What? Where does it say Bertuzzi is going to test the market?
-
No. We have too many forwards already. One-dimensional enforcers are useless now anyway.
-
Seems like all the writers are saying Smyth to Detroit. I hope so.
-
I'd say tomorrow is a good bet, especially now that the cap is set. There will probably be a lot of activity tomorrow.
-
The rumor was Datsyuk for Thornton, so it was at least plausible.
-
So why were they suddenly convinced of his abilities before the playoffs when he signed the extension? Datsyuk has always been in the team's long-term plans.
-
Here's a question to everyone: We all now know about Holland's offer to Elias last summer. Management also knew they wanted to keep Datsyuk. If they were willing to sign Elias to a long term deal (and risk the future) then, why wouldn't they be willing to do the same with Smyth? Plus, there's a higher cap now.
-
Smyth's scored 36 goals the past two years. A goal is a goal. Plus, he brings even more of the never-die attitude that the team showed in the playoffs. He's physical and he's a great, vocal leader. Any team could use him.

Overpaid? Yes. Outrageous? No.
-
Wha?

Bertuzzi is a huge question mark. You can't really assume he's going to get market value, because he's not. I don't understand what Lang's contract has anything to do with Bertuzzi. Lang's deal was signed before the lockout when he was a marquee center. Bertuzzi is an injured power forward. I'm predicting $2.5 with incentives.

Is anyone worried that we have not signed any of the 4 ufa yet?
Rice replied to Curban915's topic in General
No. From what I've heard, Bertuzzi and Hasek are very close to signing. I like Markov a lot but he's replaceable. Schneider's demands are too high right now. -
RDS Article is in French but it says Boynton and Adams have been placed on waivers. I'd definitely take a shot at Boynton.
