I wonder if Williams and Hudler will be getting extra ice time tonight.
-
Edmonton isn't going to trade him.
-
Ok well by that logic no one is untouchable, ever. But a trade like that would never happen which is why there are untouchable players.
-
The salary cap era has enveloped a whole one and a half seasons. Also, don't you remember the Lang trade? He was rumored to be on the way here for a while, as I recall. Him and Zhamnov.
-
I remember a ton of people here wanted the Wings to sign Mike Rathje. That would've been great.
-
Not to mention other picks Burke has just carelessly thrown around, like a second rounder for Parros. Just a question - Can you trade a conditional pick? Obviously it would be stupid for the team receiving it but has it ever happened? I think the conditional pick in the Pronger deal is contingent on Anaheim going to the finals.
-
True, but you have to take into account that Dallas and Phoenix are in the same division.
-
This is what Malik says about it in his MLive blog: Holland and Babcock are both high on Filppula. I don't think he's going anywhere.
-
If that's true we can't compete. But, I dont think it is because Anaheim has traded a lot of high picks lately.
-
Didn't have the cap room either.
-
I think we ended up ultimately giving up Rivers and a fourth for Cross and a seventh. The definition of pointless.
-
Weber is a big part of the Preds' defense already. He wouldn't be part of a deal.
-
Wasn't Steve Thomas traded to Anaheim from Chicago on a night the two teams played?
-
Also in the article it says Forsberg is willing to waive his NTC to go to Detroit, Anaheim, and Nashville. This conflicts with the report in the Free Press that says he'd be willing to go to Detroit, Anaheim, or Montreal. Hopefully the Freep is correct because I'd prefer if Nashville weren't involved in the bidding. Although I dont know if either report is accurate, because wouldn't it seem like Forsberg would want to play with Naslund? Who knows.
-
I think you missed my point.
-
You're right, we don't have $6 million to sign him with. We have $25 million free to sign him with. I doubt he'll want a raise from his current salary anyway. Forsberg is far from a softie. He gets hurt but that's because he isnt a softie.
-
The only thing I can think of that would be holding Nashville back is the fact that Arnott and Legwand have been great all year, as opposed to Lang who has been pretty inconsistent. I don't know if the Preds would be willing to mess around with their forwards considering they've all been pretty good this year. Also, would the Preds be willing to part with any significant forward prospects? They're at risk of losing Kariya and Hartnell next year. Their prospects and defense arent chopped liver though.
-
That's awesome, lol. I think the teams competing with Detroit for Forsberg will be Anaheim and Nashville, both of which we could be beaten by in a bidding war. The Ducks have Bobby Ryan and Nashville has a ton of defense prospects.
-
If Holland adds Forsberg and an 'in your face' third or fourth liner like Drake I think we'd have a very complete team on our hands. Kopecky's return will be big too. I really liked his physical presence when he was healthy.
-
I'm tired of people saying Forsberg's style wouldn't help the Wings. The more I think about it the more I'm loving the idea of Forsberg on the team. Plugging him in on the second line with Samuelsson would turn Samuelsson's unscreened wristers from the blue line into legit scoring chances from the circle. This is how Forsberg helps the Wings. He would improve the players around him 100% -- something that a team with guys like Williams, Samuelsson, and Cleary in the top six desperately needs. That's not a knock on Cleary, I just don't think hes a true top six winger.
-
I agree. I like Lang a lot but if we land Forsberg I think he should and would be dealt.
-
Vancouver doesn't have the space to deal for him I dont think. Anyway, you don't need to screw around with the Zetterberg line if we get Forsberg. That's almost the point. It'd take a lot of weight off their shoulders for the playoffs to know that Forsberg is on the second line and powerplay. Datsyuk-Zetterberg-Holmstrom Cleary-Forsberg-Samuelsson Forsberg would do wonders for Cleary and Samuelsson.
-
I wouldn't be surprised to see the Wings deal for Forsberg then trade Lang for a pick to re-gain the pick that they'd likely lose and the cap space, then flip someone for a winger. It really seems like Lang isn't happy playing here anymore. Supposedly Atlanta is interested in him. Edit: I'd be surprised as that's not how it will go down but I could see something similar happening. Edit 2: Ha, I just finished reading the article and Kahn went ahead and mentioned what I just said.
-
Ha, that's not what I was thinking but I think he wears veneers or something sometimes.
-
Did anyone see Zetterberg's teeth before play started up?
