Classic Holland. Ignore your hardworking minor leaguers and pick up a guy that has zero points in 14 games. Lovely. Why do you assume he's going to be playing in the NHL?
-
A lot of people seem to be forgetting that they're 5-1-1 at home. Plus, they started the season in Sweden.
-
Holland said the club would not pursue Peter Forsberg, who is playing in Sweden and intends to sign with an NHL team.Even if the Red Wings were interested in Forsberg, he might not be interested in playing for them. The one-time Colorado star let it be known two years ago he wouldn't play for the Avalanche's one-time bitter rival.
There's been some chatter on the internet hinting that the Red Wings were among the teams in Sweden this week to scout Peter Forsberg, who is healthy again and competing in the Karjala Cup tournament. The Wings may very well be scouting that tournament, but I just exchanged emails with Ken Holland and he very clearly said the team had no interest in Forsberg.

Andy Sutton, Bryan Allen, Greg Zanon, or Shane Hnidy.
-
Colin White?New Jersey won't move him, especially with Martin out.
-
I think they're going to have to wait a while for the playoff/non-playoff teams to sort themselves to make a move. A few guys I'd look at:
- Greg Zanon and Shane Hnidy (not sure if they have the puck moving ability to fit here)
- Bryan Allen (He's a prick but he'd be a good fit)
- Brendan Witt and Andy Sutton
These teams (Florida, Minnesota, and NYI) very likely aren't going to make the playoffs. These are the guys I think the Wings might look at if Lilja can't go.
-
There is only one reason why Prospal didn't come here (and Fedorov for that matter at the 2008 trade deadline) and its the same reason Shanahan left and Yzerman retired a year earlier than he wanted to.....Mike Babcock....
Yeah, if only the Wings had traded for Fedorov in '08. They probably would've won the Cup!
-
I don't think the Wings have the right pieces. The players Florida would be interested in are Filppula, Ericsson, Kindl, and McCollum. I can't see the Wings moving any of them for Horton.
-
I thought Toronto would be decent this season. Guess I was wrong. Komisarek and Beauchemin were supposed to significantly upgrade that defense, but I've always thought both are overrated. Of course they're going to look good playing alongside Markov and Niedermayer/Pronger. Plus, they paid close to a franchise price for Kessel who isn't a franchise player. Burke is overrated. Always has been.

The Wings were so lucky that Legace didn't accept that 4 year, $2.5 million per deal they offered him before the '06 playoffs. Legace must be kicking himself over that.

ESPN.com has sucked for a while.
-
Yeah, this really is a horrible list. Lidstrom at 27?
-
Why was this bumped?
-
Correct me If I'm wrong... We Still have a CAP right?doesnt this put them in Salary Cap Hell right now?
The Sharks already had cap issues, but this is a pretty lateral move for them salary-wise. Cheechoo and Michalek make a combined $7.33 million while Heatley makes $7.5 million. They're going to have to dump more salary.
-
Well, Heatley and Thornton should be great together. Maybe this is the move that finally gets the Sharks over the hump.
-
Those are all Chinese knockoffs.
-
Look out.

Shanahan-Datsyuk-Draper
Samuelsson-Zetterberg-Holmstrom
Williams-Lang-Yzerman
Maltby-Franzen-Cleary
Mowers
Lidstrom-Lilja
Schneider-Chelios
Lebda-Woolley
Cross
Legace
Osgood
With a healthy defense, it would've probably been this:
Lidstrom-Kronwall
Schneider-Fischer
Lilja-Chelios
Lebda/Rivers/Woolley
Yes, you're reading right, Draper did play some first line right wing that year. I believe he rotated with Cleary and Franzen occasionally.
What a paper tiger that team was... but if the defense were healthy they would've been better in the playoffs.
-
I think you're underestimating the '07 Ducks. I think they would've beaten the '09 Penguins. Hell, I think the '09 Ducks would've beaten the '09 Penguins. That '07 Ducks team was extremely well-built.
-
I think Calgary, San Jose, and Chicago are the biggest threats to the Wings in the west. One of these years San Jose is going to get over the hump. People called the Wings and Yzerman chokers for years, too.
-
According to TSN, Bertuzzi has been signed. I'm closing this thread.
-
Great deal. I'm surprised all Prospal could get was $1.1 million.
-
Not many guys I can see the Wings being interested in. I bet Holmstrom hangs them up and Lidstrom takes a decent paycut. Frolov is the guy I'd look at... unless of course Kovalchuk would be willing to take a huge paycut to play here. That's a pipe dream though.

There's already a thread on this in the rumor mill.

I bet you were clamoring for Darryl Bootland to be here the last few years too. How's he doing over in Europe?
