Well this is very nice for the other national leagues in Europe because the Khl now has to stop raiding them or buying arenas in order to force teams into hostile Khl takeovers. Sadly too late for Jokerit so enjoy your filthy money Harkimo you son of a *****

Well Pasha is probably one of the most gifted players server in terms of skill not even 40 can match that. Beating the Wings has become too simple and that's not a good thing regardless of the record the book is our there => play a hard nosed physical game, intimidate the team and you'll soon. Ever since Godstrom left the PP had become abysmal as evidence by the opponents taking more liberties with the Wings. I wonder if Dubinsky would have even looked at one of our players with Orr or Mclaren on the bench? Skill needs to be balanced and the Wings are lacking in that regard, so some nastiness and mean SOB isn't the worst thing. When s the last time someone challenged Hall or Hoping? Can't remember it because answering to Gazdic isn't a blessing experience. Even better how many cheap shots does Johnny hockey receive per game? None because the stare of Grats is on the bench ready to go at each time. God do I miss the bash bros and the tight bunch this team once was... Skilled, Hard nosed, hard working and entertaining as hell

Do we need a trade to get our offence going ?
frankgrimes replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
As good as Nyquist is Hall is in a different class, the guy has no help in Edmonton, plays for his 5 coach in only 4 years that's tough no matter what. Hall is one of the best wingers in the game give him a great center and the guy who's put up huge numbers. If other teams want they'll have to pay a lot for him.. If I'm MacT and Hall only nets me Smith, Pulkinen and an unproven goaltender I'll simply look somewhere else. Good that people brought up the Seguin trade I think the trade did set a precedent on how to not act. -

Thanks just looked it up and you are right he doesn't have one colour me shocked. That being said I don't think the Oilers would ask for him nor Pasha. Hall is their biggest trade piece they would want some serious return both in terms of quantity and quality which obviously means Mantha/Goose, Dekeyser + and personally I would not want to pay that. It's really unbelievable Hall is on his 4 coach in 5 years.. -

Z at this point in his career wouldn't net us Hall note would be waive to top go to the Lowe gong show. Mantha, Dekeyser, Goose plus a top pick would have to be packaged in some sort -

Hall basically is their offense and under the right circumstances the guy could become crazy good, he is what 22? If I'm Chiarelli I'd have MacT on speed dial. -

Well I guess if Hall is really on the block it would take something like Dekeyser, Goose and a first dinner to get the conversation started. Hall is one of the top Wingers in the game that guy won't come cheap -

Couldn't care less about Heatly this is about an animal that doesn't deserve a second chance send him back to Russia or whatever he comes from -
Nothing wrong with that, it's still a shame that nobody stood up for Smith and adding someone other teams fear is never the worst idea in the world. Also Johnny Hockey, Monahan and the other Flames youngstars can go outthere and do what they want, because they know a bunch of no nonsense guys are having their back. I disagree with a lot of things that Burke says, but when it comes to truculence, beligerence and pugnacity the guy is right. I'm also not going to say sorry for liking something thats been part of hockey since forever and enjoying a good scrap, hard hit and some rough stuff after all this is hockey and not soccer where so called athletes are acting like ******* if someone touches them ...

Animals aren't human dogs aren't getting a second chance after they've bitten someone so why should another animal... -
I was one of the guys who thought he would do well but boy have I been wrong. His first move was totally classless and unrespectful to the former Edmonton greats (removing their pictures from the locker room) and then introducing his "swarm defense" There will be a presser tomorrow at 10:00 am with Eakins from Rextall should be interesting

Hopefully his contract will get voided and they send his wife beating disgusting animal ass back to Russia. what a douchebag -
And only one guy in the current NHL management knows more about winning than him because Sather has more rings

Garcillo to me is a mixture between an agitator and a fighter but I wouldn't call him a pure enforcer. The guy is a bit of a spotpicker. Thank you for mentioning Crombeen and McLeod forgot these two yeah, they are fun to watch. But what I'm trying to say it's not just about fi ghting its about sticking up for eachother, be a close bunch you know a blue collar hockey club. At least in 2 years tops someone named McKee will come in and make sure there is someone sneaky coming around the corner if players want to take liberties with our smaller guys or star players.

Save for Engelland, Gallant, McQaid and sometimes Simmons middleweight fights are extremely boring and the difference in fighting skills becomes obvious.

I've written it's a mixture of a lot things economy, losing so much talent and a total change in philosophy. Remember the time when Dmac scored fans went crazy, or when Kronwall kronwalled other players? Smith had to stick up for himself after a hard check and nobody stood up for him I don't think that's exciting...
-
The problem is some are so good at their job they can't find any takers because most are playing in the nhl now. The game really lacks that energy element fights are down so are bone crushing hits I mean if I wanted to watch that I could watch euro hockey at much better hours ahl hockey was just so much more entertaining.

Great post finally someone is sharing my views on toughness. A few years ago guys like Dmac, Downie or even Shanahan would have wiped the floor with enemies but now the team is a bunch of small fairies that's too easy to intimidate and that's against a Leafs team that didn't even ice Orr and McClaren. Disgusting for a team that once had the heavyweight belt. And people are still wondering why the season ticket list turned from a waiting list to running commercials... The mixture just isn't there. Former Wings were exciting to watch because they were built in skill, grit and an overall hardworking hockey club who could beat the other team in many ways and stood up for each other. The Lemieux incident nowadays would result in a crying for Quinta instead of taking justice in the own hand and let someone go Berserk soon sad

Katz is now paying Tambellini, Krueger and Eakins wow that's a lot of money They should hire the Walrus and trade Yakupov for size and grit

It's not just about this game it's the whole mentality of not doing something when things aren't working. The Wings of old would have caused havoc, gone physical Or changed the lines. This team just got out hit! By a leafs team that isn't icing Orr and MClaren. And even yesterday against the Panthers these points are more important than those against contenders because the leafs are in the playoff hunt too.. Yes, a team can and will be tired but not fighting back is the wrong message to send -
