Obviously I thought both (Tatar + the Goose) would take a step back this year because other teams would focus more on them and shut them down but so far, both are playing really well. Tatar really exceeded my expectations good for him after what he has gone through last year.

Well technically we have someone who could do it but for whatever reason has stopped it

Devils sign Brunner 2 yrs. $2.5 million AAV
frankgrimes replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
I think the Pens have to be all over this, they've been searching for a Crosby winger since forever here is their chance without giving up anything. If it doesn't work out, they c an easily assign him to the baby pens. -
Seriously they don't deserve McDavid such a clueless and full of their past glorydays management doesn't deserve that kind of talent (the fans do obviously). But after all the struggles and BS Buffalo had to go through pre Pegula I would be very happy seeing them getting the next generational talent. At least their management is competent and doesn't put all the blame on some ~ 20 year old players ... disgusting

This was really something else in a bad way to sum it up: 1. it's all the players fault 2. MacTavish and company haven't been on the job long enough 3. Eakins is progressing ...ya well Krueger had 7 months ? and accomplished much morei n a shorter period of time..

Wow what a gongshow, if I were an Oilers fan I would be pissed tremendously, a presser just to say and do nothing ? thats a ******* job how do these guys still have a job in the NHL (best league in the world by far).

Kings fined $100K for allowing Slava Voynov to practice w/ team
frankgrimes replied to Jersey Wing's topic in General
Ya sure an entity that's protecting workers rights and the well being of their employees is worthless unbelievable. The NHLs action against Voynov will and should be a lot harder if he did beat up his wife I mean what kind of ***** does someone has to be to beat up his wife. If he is that tough how about going toe toe with Caine Velasquez...If I'm the owner of the Kings and it turns out that he is guilty I would void his contract, period. -
Lets agree to disagree Gazdic is not just a fighter, he can also play I would say he is a more intimidating Zack Kassian. So far their only superstar who has shown his potential is Hall, RNH needs to get his act together the kid is ridiculously talented.
-
A team needs more than just the superstar (Hall) players, Gazdic is one of a kind the Oilers could need more of that mentality, he never quits and works his butt off although he only makes a fringe of what RNH, Eberle and the other superstars are getting. I still can't understand Katz Ray Shero and Disco Dan are looking for a job and he is keeping his former Gretzky, Messier legacy riders on board...
-
Well Mr. 6 Rings I know a thing or two about winning and don't spray water on my 2.000 $ suit Eakins are going to have some master plan In all seriousness I agree, seeing promising players like Hall, Gazdic put in such a **** situation absolutely sucks.

Alfredsson Set to Sign 1-day Contract with Senators
frankgrimes replied to WingsallTheway's topic in General
The problem is Brodeur could have retired as an alltime Devil and he just hangs on for a few more wins. I get it, it's his decision but risking such a great legacy with only 1 club at least to me seems wrong and sad. But whatever his decision and hopefully it works out for him. As for Jagr, yeah he can still put up the points but with injuries pilling up I hope he doesn't risk his future health. Well Stevie Y was one of a kind that guy basically played on one leg and still dominated, such a warrior but you are right, if he would have listened to his body the outcome would have been much different, so in some cases I'm glad players aren't listening . -
Everytime I'm watching this I have to laugh really I get it, it's probably an Armani, Gucci, Versace or whatever designer suit but seriously it's only water it will dry in a few moments. I always thought Eakins would be an upcoming great coach but after seeing and watching his antics in Edmonton I'm not so sure anymore. I mean he removed pictures from Gretzky ... from the locker room and talks a big game but doesn't deliver Eakins seems to be very arrogant too. As for the presser one of 3 things needs to happen: 1. Lowe stepping down 2. MacTavish stepping 3. Eakins being fired Since I highly doubt we are going to see a major trade....the Oilers wouldn't be stupid enough to call a presser just to tell everyone the braintrusts thought about the season so far...or would they ?
-
Agreed, start with Mr. 6 Rings Lowe, keep MacTavish on a short-leash and tell the players that this is going to be about accountability, the junior-days are over time to hang or sink with the big boys. Can't believe they haven't talked to Disco Dan and Ray Shero yet.

Alfredsson Set to Sign 1-day Contract with Senators
frankgrimes replied to WingsallTheway's topic in General
I have so much respect for Alfie, the guy doesn't hang on like Marty or Jaromir he actually listens to his body. -
That's ok but given some of the Wings weaknesses I love to watch other teams that bring that element to their game. Dallas may not be a hardnosed team but Benn really hits all cylinders...offensive stud, physical, grit and a hardnosed type of game and I like watching that. Do I wish to see both guys exploding against the Wings ? For sure not but I'm also not going to pretend that I don't watch other teams. Heck I even watched the Leafs thanks to Colton Orr, Frazer and Frazer McLaren I just like that type of heavy game. it's just a matter of preferences I think, I'll always cheer for the Wings but it's no secret that some other teams are more entertaining in my mind.

Welcome back Nill, should be a great match-up watching Seguin and Benn well be fun

Babcock "I don't think it will be my final year here"
frankgrimes replied to trule23's topic in General
Here http://www.cbssports.com/nhl/eye-on-hockey/24742199/mike-babcock-upset-by-red-wings-demoting-xavier-ouellet ".. “Well, that's a great question to have,” Babcock answered. “I don't have to answer that one, though. I just said I'd ask the other guy and then I'll support everything he's decided.” “I got my two cents in, so I get one vote,” Babcock said. “He (Holland) gets two, so he can win, 2-1."" I think a 1:1 vote + asking a third person (assistant GM, Blashill etc.) would be a good idea. For sure Babs is going to say that as do players, because it drives the price up and doesn't leave much media room for endless speculations. Personally I fully expect him leaving, if he does stay I would be very surprised and happy, by far the best coach in the NHL. -
Quinn, Beliveau... In less than two weeks horrible condolences and prayers to his family. Sucks even more when holidays are around the corner.

Babcock "I don't think it will be my final year here"
frankgrimes replied to trule23's topic in General
Babs all cash in and getting a chance to choose from a lot of teams, where some are contenders. Also the guy wants a fair say in signing decisions if he doesn't get it here, super Mario is for sure going to provide that also. Personally I think he'll leave and by then the retool will turn into a rebuild (only one year too late for McEichel). People who don't like him will get their wish and he'll take home a few cups with the Pens or Blues -

Enjoy your retirement great player and class act Sens are now without their pizza line -
This gotta be it for Eakins

Sorry but 4,25 per for KFQ is overpayment, Ehrhoff - who is much better - is making less than that and look at Pittsburghs improvement so trading him will not be easy. I think he will ride out his contract here. But yeah XO deserves to have a place on this team. Not that this would make the team a contender, but it would be nice to see the youth movement taking over more and more.

Do we need a trade to get our offence going ?
frankgrimes replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
Both players control their own faith with ntc and nmc clauses they are going nowhere but Todd could find himself on the hit seat soon -
Nothing exactly, it's way too early for bold predictions like that. Did the wings start better than I've expected them ? Absolutely Do I think they can keep it up ? Who knows but I'd rather keep it realistic and enjoy watching the future of this time instead of dreaming about something on which other teams are having a much better shot at. Yeah, the Bruins have taken a step back (I still can't believe they've lost Iginla, Thornton and Boychuck) and not replacing them - thats on Chiarelli and he has to fix it. Pittsburgh regular season is meaningless for them, we'll see how they are doing in the playoffs.
-
And I'll still stand by that if this team wants to make the playoffs goal tending will be key. The difference is I'm not expecting the playoffs anymore so it's easier to enjoy the young guys play. We are not even in December yet so let's keep it realistic. But I'm really surprised with how bad the Flyers are they'll need a trade soon
