Exactly if things go south with MDZ getting rid off him is much easier
-
All the best to you, hopefully it's work out in the best possible way and you never have to through it again. My prayers are with you
-
The guy has a 1,3 mill aav for one year, so if things aren't working out you can send him down and create capspace. It's a low risk high reward move, Yeah he needs to figure out his defensive game but if he doesn't so what ? Send him down and boom capspace, you can't do that with a guy making 4,25 aav for two years.

Just looked it up Buffalo has top 5 picks (their own plus islanders) in one of the deepest drafts ever, so if things are working out perfectly for them they have a chance at McDavid and Eichel wow, that's damn scary.

Report: NHL to have 5 outdoor games in 2014-15.

The funny thing is I don#t even care about the WC anymore and now they are continuing their stadium series... I guess ballhockey during NHL season is their cashcow now... -
So well deserved heck of an UNDRAFTED good ol' Michigan boy. That Lidström Rafalski pairing was so damn great, wish I even appreciated them more [i HATE father time ]

That's what I love about this site, moderators aren't acting like dictators and other views are allowed. Personally I'm going into the season as a somewhat evaluation year, I don't expect much but will be very happy if the Wings exceed my expectations. If they suck I will also be very happy, because ...well...hello Connor McDavid and that guy is worth one year of a playoff drought. btw. The Devils aren't likely to bring Brodeur back so I guess he is Pens bound as Fleury's backup.

Del Zotto at 1,3 versus a certain wing at 4,25 per I don't even need to think about that one. MDZ has had a down year yes but the guy does have some talent, he just needs to get his mind straight << DEFENSE first, offense second I really can't understand why some defensemen at this level are struggling with their own priorities.

Who is YOUR most under-appreciated/unsung Red Wing?

The master of deflections guy gave his body for this team and was a huge part of our former dangerous pp -
So basically Bergervin and Meahan agreed on that contract ? Wow, why all the hold up then did his camp even ask for more ? I understand the CBA trust me, that's why I was one of the very few people who weren't shocked when Perry, Getzlaf signed and same again with Toews, Kane. But Toews is easily a top 3 player in the league (in terms of total package), proven winner and has an unreal resumee at 27 years of age, Kane is a great player too (not as good mind you) but he had the Buffalo leverage so I can understand both contracts. 9 Million at least to me would indicate elite defenseman and Subban ISN'T that far from it. Like I've pointed out I see him and Karlsson more as a 13 forward with defensive responsibilities but both are nowhere near Weber, Suter, Keith, Seabrook, Doughty and Pietrangelo level. And at 7 mill per I'd rather have Phaneuf than Subban at 9 mill per. Anyway I don't have to pay it and it hurts a playoff opponent so for us as Wingsfans it might be a great contract *g*

If we.could really lock him up for the same contract Holland has to do it no matter what. Excellent posting in terms of the cap, I hated it the day it was implemented and will hate it till it's gone. Like we've seen time and time again - 3 times - it doesn't prevent lockouts ..

Sure for me it means: acting like you are above the team, over the top celebrations, butting heads with your coach and/or teammates. I really can't stand such attitudes stopped following soccer after it became more like the NBA too, I think this trend with more and more young cocky guys such as Kadri, Yakupov, Eller and him is alarming Their franchise is and has been Price Trust me I understand the whole microscope point that's why I've said pay him a bit more and be done with it. I really thought the arbitrator would have awarded less.. If I'm paying 9 per for a defenseman my first priority would be can I trust his defensive skills when the game is on the line? And just like Karlsson I wouldn't they are offensive defenseman and good ones at that but not reliable in their own end.

I like your way of reacting too. Sadly I'm a bit too drunk for a long response but I'll try my best without too much mistakes I love the way Gus, Tatar, Sheahan and Jurco played this year but we have to keep one thing in mind, othere teams are now aware of Nyquist, Tatar their best defenders nowadays know how dangerous both of them are. Other coaches will adjust theiir gameplan and nobody knows if both might have a bit of a sophomore slump because of that (happened to the best of them so no big deal just saying). As awesome Z and Pasha are - and they are unbelievable awesome so glad we have them - they need someone to protect them and more importantly create space on the ice, as of right now the RedWings don't have such a player. Hockey isn't played on paper, otherwise it would be Chess and that's great but personally I'd rather go in with very low expectations and can only be positively surprised instead of hoping for - given our shaky defense - an unrealistic great finish. Too each their own and I'll honestly admit I wouldn't be against ending the st reak if it means McDavid or Jake Eichel both are going to become two absolute superstars for ~ 15 years and they would fix our center problem for the future. The Bruins in my mind took a step back by losing Thoirnton, Iginla the Pens will have to hope that Ehrhoff can bring what Niskanen did if he does I think they might be better than the Bruins this season. Like I said the Rangers have McDonagh and an impressive goaltender so they are going to be in the mix again. The Bolts at least to me did have the best offseason in the east, I agree with you they aren't there yet but they are getting closer each year unreal what Yzerman has accomplished there. Habs I fully agree and the only reason I see them above us is their goalie, otherwise they aren't better in fact their forward depth is worse than ours. The Caps added a great coach, an awsome defender in Niskanen and physical tank in Orpik so on paper they are clearly better. A lot of the Flyers season will hang on to the play off Mason if he falls back to just being average they might have trouble making the playoffs, their defense just isn't and hasn't been good enough since Pronger left - very comparable to us and Lids

- Fighting your team mates - NBA attitude - risky in your own zone - putting yourself always over the team = reward 9 million per, I always thought this guy is Montreals version of Karlsson but Karlsson doesn't come with attitude problems. Ok he is playing under an absolute microscope so give him 0.3k per more that's 6,8...but But what do I know Montreal - like someone has quoted - is it's own hockey universe. And all of a sudden even on an 8 year contract Webers 7,85 AAV is an absolute steal, same goes for Doughty, Keith, Chara, Suter, Pietrangelo, Vlasic, Kronwall, Seabrook, McDonagh, Phaneuf. Man the arbitrator really must have hated Montreals presentation 82 million for 8 years ... as for their lockout: As long as we aren't changing the commissioner they are going to come prepare for it and since fans are always crawling back, nothing will change. The only way to stop this crap is for thee NHLPA to decertisfy

For me the Weiss thing is simple: until I haven't seen that he can actually be a great addition I will remain skeptical. Mind you nothing against him, I just find it difficult to come back in perfect shape after having missed almost 2 seasons Trust me, I wish I would be wrong and he absolutely surprises me with great play. Pens: To be honest with you I know absolutely nothing about their new coach but at the end of the day, when you have Crosby, Malkin, Ehrhoff, Letang and that Maataa kid at least the ECF should be expected and a given at least in mind. Will they live up to all that expectations ? Who knows but on paper they are one hell of a team. I also think they've closed the gap on the Bruins I mean letting a great locker room and beloved Bruin in Shawn Thornton go is just stupid beyond everything add to that letting Iginla go.. it's not been a great off-season for one of the best GMs in the game [Chiarelli]. Bolts: Agreed nobody knows if Bishop can bring it again but that team is on the rise I mean Stamkos, Hedberg, Bishop, Drouin, Stralman, Callahan, Palat most of them aren't even in their prime yet. So it's just outstanding what Y has been able to accomplish there. This to me is a team that has closed the gap to the Pens and Bruins more it may not be there yet but they are getting closer each off-season. As for beating the Ducks, they are the new version of the Capitals under Bodreaus the guy is a regular season guru but he just doesn't seem to have the right playoff plan. Also that game 7 against the Ducks could have gone either way when I'm looking at this Redwings team I'm looking at the embarrassment against the Big Bad Juggernut named Bruins and compared to the series against this team nothing happened, so I wouldn't feel comfortable facing them, Pens or Bolts in a first round and that's exactly what will happen. This is a team which at best will finish around the 7 - 8 spot and again be up against an bsolute juggernut so I'd rather play the kids, forget about patchworks and if we stink all the better hello McDavid or Jake Eichel :-)

While I fully agree with the two alltime defenders thing I definately disagree with the "anyone could have coached them" argument on the other side, just SOME coaching experience at the NHL level would have been enough to coach this team to the cup. MLSE has enough money so if the Leafs suck again this season, Carlyle will be gone that's for sure.

Red Wings add Jim Hiller and Andrew Brewer to coaching staff
frankgrimes replied to hillbillywingsfan's topic in General
Don'*t know much about these kids but I trust Babcock, so welcome aboard. -
Even healthy the team hardly killed and lost against very beatable enemies. To each their own opinion but most experts and people in the know would put the Bolts and Pens over the Wings and rightfully so. The Rangers have a great defense and well the King, Habs Price so yeah even fully healthy those teams are just better. I would go as far saying that this Wings edition will be worse than the one we've had last season. The defense just isn't good enough to get the job done

The Problem is a Carlyle type player as ard to define as they come. One would assume Perry or Getzlaf were Carlyle type players but no, he butted heads with of them. Carlyle wants players who compete and compete hard I get that but he never ever mentions HOW they should compete. It's like a teacher telling his students to correct their mistakes but not now << 0 learning effect. Also keep in mind this is Leafs Nation, they can go from Norris predictions to worst player ever! in a span of two games. Gardiner is a fine young kid he just needs to put his defensive game first and then think about the offense. I mean the media and some fans there are already predicting that this Dubas guy is already calling the shots, ya sure with Shanahan as VP, Nonis as GM and him being on the job for about a week...unreal.

I thought it would be fun speculating about each individuals favorite players agency. Personally I would choose Creative Artist Agency found by Pat Brisson and J.P Barry reason being: they aren't as big as Newport Sports and therefore the personal maintenance should be even better plus CAA is the second most powerful agency in the NHL, so they for sure have the power to negotiate great contracts for their clients and won't bow to lowball offers or deal with their clients being treated poorly (i.e Luongo). There are rumours on the Leafs board that they will let McLaren go the guy would fix our smallish problem immediately and save for Lucic, Parros not many are able to go toe to toe with him I'm not even talking about winning. The guy has 1:1 record against the beast that is John Scott.

Will never forget that great goal I remember jumping out of chair and screaming my parents got REALLY pissed at me (game ended at around 4 am here *g*) and I lived at home back then. -
Couldn't care less either I'm just happy we have him locked up for 3 more years. If he can score around 20 - 25 goals annually that would be absolutely fantastic - to quote 'Babs -

Great news now sign DeKeyser to the same deal.
