Frans Nielsen will represent Red Wings at NHL All-Star Game

Read the damn paragraph once more someone paid it so they are worth it, period.

Nobody right now is on the level of Crosby. Well he is worth it to the Hawks they've paid it so he's worth it. If people want to take Malkin over him fine with me I would take Toews. I mean everyone is free to come up with their own top 100 list, it's not rocket science

I'm sure the Bowman's and Wirtz jr. are having sleepless nights over it..maybe their 3 cups can help out a little bit...just maybe. Sure this is a bad season for Toews but lets see what he does come playoff time

Maybe you should lay of the Wodka bottle I never said that. But Malkin is either on and then he is really on or he disappears here and there. Malkin has more talent but captain serious is no doubt the harder working guy.

Frans Nielsen will represent Red Wings at NHL All-Star Game

No because I value leadership, 100 percent effort and a great two way game more than the chance to get an all world while also having the chance ro get an I don't care performance, that's never the case with captain serious and it rubs of on the rest of the team, especially young guns.

None of your business and no I don't. You take Malkin I take Toews, fine.

The funny thing is this extension or holdout will take a backseat because this summer McDavid will sign an earth shattering contract, everything under 15 mill per would be a win for the Oilers.

I'd take Toews over Malkin every day. I don't understand that you are Holland joke but ok.

Frans Nielsen will represent Red Wings at NHL All-Star Game

It's funny coaches, GMs, players that had the pleasure of facing Toews are all raving about his abilities, work ethic and tremendous leadership. Also Toews would probably the first guy stating that he is having a bad season by his standards. Claude Loiselle and O'Sullivan said it best if people are only looking at points when it comes to Toews they are making a mistake. Did he deserve to be there? Probably not but questioning if the guy is top 100 all time is wrong: 3 cups, 2 Olympic gold medals, WJC gold, annual selke candidate and under 30 that's freaking impressive. Of course he had help from Keith, Seabrook, Kane, Hossa and Crawford but hockey is a team game.

    Celebrity Game

Yeah that's true but if change isn't positive for someone and more often than not negative..It's only natural to hate, loathe and fear it even if it leads to bitterness. I mean I've seen one of my favorite sitcoms going from super funny (nerdy) to being a relationship orientated one, I've seen my favorite local stores being bought up by faceless supermarket chains plus much more...now I'm seeing my favorite game turning into something I don't like and while doing so the team I'm cheering for is just unwatchable. And that's not even the worst examples change has brought into my life

    Celebrity Game

Yup I'm an oldschool, conservative person who loathes, hates and fears change. I don't care if other people agree with it or not but hockey is losing the things that made it cool and niche very fast and I don't like that. It's not just the game itself it's the whole presentation too. Which is sad because this was by far the best game on earth. But whatever the ASG weekend is over now and things will be back to normal come Wednesday or whenever they return.

Money (Wings can't offer that because Kenny blew capspace like crazy on July 1), team (steady decline), and city. I'd guess at this point most players would rather sign with Edmonton than here that's why it's so important to get an elite prospect so the top players might see the Wings as valueable destination in the future again.

    Celebrity Game

It's called All Star Game of course it's not even a shadow of it's former self anymore but at least the players involved are all professional hockeyplayers there's no reason to include celebrities, this isn't the NBA and it hopefully never will be. As a player I would not like it but of course I wouldn't like the weekend at all and rather fake an injury to have a few days of.

    Celebrity Game

As a player I'd rather have almost a week of than being part of such a nonsense. Especially now that celebrities are allowed in, if it's for the fans allow some fans in instead of celebrities.

    Celebrity Game

Deosn't matter it was still a joke. I'm sure Suter didn't like it but if it actually meant something like duringa game he would be pissed of no reason to get pissed of in a nonsense weekend. I'm sure they are trying in other competitions too but the hardest shot is the one where they can go all out and it's also the least embarrassing one because it's a very simple format.

    Celebrity Game

Someone like John Scott last year. For the most part I always liked the hardest shot competition because it's the only thing where the players are playing to their full NHL talent potential. The game itself is a huge joke, team drafts and that other nonsense just made the game an even bigger joke.

    Celebrity Game

So this bush league is doing everything to keep good guys out of the game but yet they have a celebrity game? The NHL is so out of touch unbelievable. Other than the hardest shot it's so unless.

Rank the top five worst players on this team

In terms of the overall package, what he meant to the team and work ethic I'd easily put DMac above both Tatar and Nyquist. They for sure are the more skilled guys but hard work beats talent if the talent doesn't work hard. Anyway I'd rather rank the 5 guys who I think can be part of the future. 1. Larkin - yes he has a down year but he is still the best option for a top 6 center role going forward. 2. Mantha - big sniper who is becoming better and better but he needs to learn how to use his massive frame and throw around his weight. 3. Danny D - same as Larkin down year but the Wings best option for a future number 1 pairing 4. AA - speedy guy but needs to be more better on the defensive end of the game 5. Coreau - cheap goalie who could help the Wings get another top pick next year no brainer here.

What would you do if you were GM

Sorry for the late reply. No, I want Illitch to hire an external person who has full authority to evaluate the Wings organization (front office, scouts, trainers, assistant GMs, players... ) you name it and then at the end of the season just like Nichelson and Shanahan did make the neccessary recommendations to ownership. The glowing shine of the new arena will quickly wear of if this team sucks this bad again and doesn't have a young star with elite potential in the lineup. Of course finding the McDavid's (at best eevery 10 years or so), Eichel's and Matthews' of the world is hard to do but the Wings had the chance to increase their odds in each of those drafts they didn't because of hanging on by a fingernail to the streak. I don't know much about Arizona as a city but damn they must have a really good hockey program down there, kid is impressive. Now that they're bad people can't cry about this being a draft without superstars, the Wings are bad now and they need the best possible help they can get and that's Nolan from all I've read. My biggest problem is, I don't trust the current frontoffice when it comes to building for the future and doing whats right in order to increase the chance at someone like Nolan but firing them now doesn't fix anything so an external person might be the best option. Of course this thread is about what I would do as a GM but to me this has to involve ownership too. It's nice to see that some very respected experts are also changing their tune and bringing up the whole rebuild thing. Whatever happens it the trade deadline will be very telling, at this point the Wings can't afford to stand pat and they can't afford to be buyers so the only option is to sell a lot finally.

Marchand Fined $10,000 For Kronwall Slew Foot

Nothing new here and the lack of reaction is also very telling, this is not a tight team with a pack mentality. Ott? As much as I like him but he has no chance Chara, McQuaid if only the Wings had a young 230lbs something warrior...named McKee wait they do he just never got a chance because he's too tough for this franchise. Does Marchand do the same thing when a behemoth is on the other bench I dont think so This stuff is what the anti enforcer crowd wanted and now people are crying about it.

Marchand Fined $10,000 For Kronwall Slew Foot

how about stop running to the league and handle that stuff on the ice? Oh I forgot the good guys are gone now. With Downey in the lineup that stuff wouldn't go without a response. Also very telling that nobody jumped the guy. While 10.000 is a lot of money it's nothing for Marchand

What would you do if you were GM

I think the whole organization (top to bottom) needs an overhaul, it seems like some guys have become complacent and are just fine with going through the motions just like the team on the ice. I would gladly give some like Don Maloney a chance guy has done a fantastic job with a fraction of the Wings budget and Phoenix while also dealing with constant relocation talks. If they fire Tippet or Julien is let go by the Bruins bringing one of those guys or even better both in would be awesome and a good start to the rebuild.
