Signed Wings re-sign Cleary $1.5 mill + $1mill in game bonuses

Montreal I give you that but Lucic ? Yeah he can be a total douchebag but he is one of the best powerforwards in the game (behind Backes) and tough as nails. This is a guy who is at his best when he is pissed off and playing with a chip on his shoulder. Our prospects: Nobody knows if Tatar and Nyquist can repeat their unreal season, it is really possible that they might have some sort of a sophomore slumb. Mantha, Marchenko, Sproul haven't played yet or played at a too small sample size so I would be wise to temper the expectations and let all of them develop. I also disagree with the ntoion that the good outweights the bad: Drafting is mainly done by scouts, they are the ones looking at the players and providing the neccessary input for GMs, coaches. To me a lot of credit has to go to Hakan Anderson he just seems to have a great eye for swedish prospects. Btw. Pittsburgh fired Shero because he didn't receive the success they expected and he tied himself faith to Bylsma and suffered the same fate... BUT the guy has had much more success than Holland during the last years. Btw. 2 players (one is a former allstar and winger, the other one a very good second line center) - 3 million caphit Dan C. - 2,5 million caphit Also if I was a betting man I would bet we are going to bring back Alfie...so then we will have the exact same roster as last year just one year older and this crap will continue till we miss the playoffs and I'm at the point where I'm cheering for that, if it means Holland moves up and we are going to see either a real rebuild or at least no more over the hill players. -
If they trade Tatar straight up for Green then someone is begging to be fired, there is no other purpose.

This is the downside of being an original 6 franchise. If a team like St. Louis sucks for years and doesn't seem to improve, coaches, management heads are starting to roll because they need their fans, so a guy like Armstrong is doing everything in his power to provide them with a great team. If that guy would have given me such an arrogant response, my reply would have looked this: "Dear arrogant PR puppet, a disgruntled customer brings 49 other distruntled ones so shove you arrogant response somewhere else and thanks I'm going to cheer for whatever team I want to. This Email will be forwarded to my friends and other fans on the edge just to show them, what type of "classy" guys are working in that organisation..." -
Confused on the direction of this team going forward

So Holland doesn't know why free agents don't want to come here or if better trades are out there...sometimes I'm wondering... Fine don't sign over the hill or almost done ufas then and let the kids play damnit -

5 years and not one major UFA signing although a lot of kicking the tires, saying A and doing B plus turning THE destination into a non destination. Sometimes laughing is the best medicine and that's also exactly why I've wanted the streak to end at least ownership would then realize that changes are needed and move him up as VP only.. -
Who has been Ken Holland's worst recent free agent signing?

I can't even choose one because there have been so many questionable signings -

Long read but I personally agree with everything the guy said, although I sadly don't believe Ferraro will earn an NHL spot this year. Wish my english would be as good as this guys. -
It's so unbelievable how NHLers literally are having the puck clued to their sticks, wow
-
What does E5 mean ? As for Renney, well he couldn't turn our PP into at least a decent one so whatever.

Congrats Flashy just awesome, awesome work. I must admit that Slocal - his other GDTs were more impressive esp. Southpark + Star Trek theme - guy has done some pretty nice work also, that South Park theme had me cracking up *lol* especially Cartman Also I did like the Habs GDT a lot may the Photoshop-Might be with you all :-)

Any infos on it dealwise? If it's a one way deal this will be the exact same team just one year older. Newsflash ufas care about winning and perspectives ...loyality is nice give him a one year front office job and pay him that 1 mill as a locker room presence but keep him away from actually playing or blocking younger players gh I swear our Allstars and Nil made him look a lot better than he really is boy o boy MacTavish, GARTH SNOW had better offseasons than this clown we are the laughing stock of the NHL.... -

Kane & Toews Sign Identical 8-year, $10.5M AAV Extensions
frankgrimes replied to _SP_'s topic in General
I understand that point believe me but if you compare to some less demanding, physical sports and what the guys there are making it's almost nothing. I can tell you one thing for sure, if the Wings would have had a superstar like that to sign now, the caphit wouldn't be much different, wheter we like it or not it's the truth that's exactly why longer contract length was a nice loophole Chicago only had 1 alternative: letting them go and that would have set back their franchise not only in terms of performance but also in terms of recognition and UFAs rwilling to sign there. -

They aren't ridiculous you want two of the best players in the game, gotta pay and it's not their fault that longterm contracts are no longer allowed. Put yourself in Toews shoes, he would have gotten maximum and left money on the table so I don't know what some are expecting. To me 1.5 million per year is a huge discount, one I wouldn't have given. As for Keith: great defenseman yes but overall Weber and I would argue even Suter are better, because they are playing a more complete overall game. -

Kane & Toews Sign Identical 8-year, $10.5M AAV Extensions
frankgrimes replied to _SP_'s topic in General
I did mention Stamkos as better, Tavares is not there yet but very close true. Z and D are superstars but not Toews, Stamkos or Crosby like superstars. Giving 1,5 per as a discount and taking 10,5 per is not selfish, unclassy it's asking for a fair value and it's not Toews fault that contracts are capped at 8 years. -
Reread the Niskanen thread and look at the numbers again, most people would have been fine with 6 x 7 and he even signed under that. So sorry for expecting more than kicking the tires since 5 years, like it or not the Redwings are falling more and more as a destination for UFAs so that means => pull up your sleeves and turn the favour around for our front-office. Also after not getting Niskanen or Ehrhoff most here wanted Kenny to do nothing and then he re-signs Quincey at 4,25 per.. Listen to TSN and the Jason Spezza presentation, he is talking about why he chose the Stars - which are by all means - not at the same level as the Kings, Blues or Blackhawks. Long story short, if UFAs don't believe in an organisation - even if it's an original 6 one with two decades of success - they won't come, sign it's that simple and we saw live on july 1.

I don't think this is going to handcuff the Blackhawks longterm. Was Kane worth 10,5 for 8 years ? No but everyone knows Buffalo would have thrown the bank at him so goes for Winnipeg and Toews. Toews is easily worth that much, other than Crosby and Stamkos nobody is better than him not even Kopitar and I really love that guy (hardworking physical presence everytime he's on the ice). These two are the cornerstones of the Blackhawks and the funny thing is, some people (Blackhawks forum) still don't understand the differense between pre and post lockout caphits . Both haven given discounts of 1,5 mill per that's a lot of money almost 4 liner... -
No worries :-) This is an US (NA) forum so I think I should use the NA method then.
-
Yeah I'm not from the NA and we use , instead of . for decinmals. Anyway going to do it the NA way next time btw. Stammer will get more or at least the same amount of money .
-
It's funny how some people are freaking out over this. Seriously what they expect without longterm contracts the caphit was for sure going to go up. Bioth of these guys -wheter you hate em of like em - have given 1,5 per discount that's a huge amount of money (12 million over 8 year x 2 = 24 million) Btw. Crosby's caphit over 8 years = 10,8 so still the highest paid player in the league and rightfully so he is the best one.

Friend of mine just sent me an sms with: Dave Davis @DaveDavisHockey 33 min According to Fox Sports Detroit, the big obstacle in a Tyler Myers trade to the Red Wings is that the Sabres want Anthony Mantha. So I guess that's some sort of Twitter-feed ? Anyway, if Murray wants Mantha I'd pray Kenny hangs up immediately.
-
Yeah that's reasonable maybe add some low draftpick and see if they accept it.
-
Oh and I don't know but it would for sure be something ridiculous: Winnipeg: Nyquist, 1st 2015, Dekeyser (they would be asking for a top D man coming back...) Detroit: Jacob Trouba Which would leave us with the same problem we already have
