No thanks to Stralman and more undersized guys, the Wings need size, grit and toughness. McKee will soon be ready but someone to fill this role for the next season going forward is still needed. The best option to fix the defense would be Niskanen, which will for sure require a bit of overpayment, as for scoring maybe Matt Moulson if he doesn't sign with the Wild. as for Vanek - for 4 - 5 mill sure which won't happen so no thanks, the guy is a floater.

Kings are perfect in game 7 so they are going to finish the job in Chicago tomorrow. Sucks but can't change it now. -

Their offense for sure needs to be better against the Kings and King Henrik will have to steal one or two games again. No matter the outcome Rangers fans should be very proud of their team they did an amazing job this season. -
Dare to elaborate please ? I just don't understand the point of this thread sorry

Boy down to the king divers ! Quck versus Lundqvist that would be absolutely insane -
Learn to read I didn't mention him as coach. Gretzky was the headcoach in phoenix
-
Don't want him guy is a more skilled Matt Cooke
-
Hate to say it but the replacement for those two will have to come through: 1. an excellent draft position (we are talking top 5) here OR 2. superb UFA signing I don't think hoping to get that lucky again and draft someone like Pasha or Z late will happen again, unfortunately.

He wasn't just good he was excellent the guy knows how to run the PP, when someone like Lidas talks you better listen and execute his plan. He doesn't need to coach just work on the strategy and Babcock then tells the team how to do it win-win.

The problem with another team in Toronto aren't just the leafs it's Buffalo, Toronto and maybe even the Devils not liking that but I fully agree giving Quebec back what the NHL has stolen and creating more teams in Canada will be a huge cashmashine for the league.

I guess we all know the answer to that, we already have a top 3 alltime player in that position. If Renney goes to Florida offer the job to Lidas !

Agreed I know they are good and I really like their team but the Hawks, Kings are doing it almost every year and at some point you have to face and beat the best of the best to become a stanley cup champion. With that in mind I still don't think they are far away from beating Chicago or even the Kings (they look unstopable right now...). -
Wow what a great tsn article, man I will miss those well written and well thought out pieces of hockey next season Basically I agree with every - who can't you ? - but one quote makes a bit nervous: No, they aren't over you just have to choose wiesely on whom to spend a fortune and on whom to pass. You can't build a cup contender solely by drafting or solely with free agent signings the right mix needs to be there. The biggest problem is, the UFA market is declining every damn year AND it's harder to find late round draft-gems ==> tough job for every GM not drafting in the top 10.. Having said that I really hope the Wings aren't going after the big fish this off-season [Thomas Vanek], we need defense first. But if Ken goes into UFA with the mindset of kicking the tires guys like Niskanen, Callahan aren't going to sign here teams need to blow them away money and perspectivewise in order to sign..

Their blueprint is to build a tough team build on superb defense if they can add a bit of scoring in the off-season, the Blues are for sure are a cup contender again next season. But I agree with you, they have to proof it at some point but given how tough the West is making it out of that conference is insane. -

Bruins are doing very well yo ucan not win every year it's just too damn hard and the Blues ran into a bad matchup. Anyway I think, I wouldn't write off any either of those series the Hawks could come back just look at the Kings it is possible . The scary thing is the Kings are talking about playing better and while they are having thedefending champs one game away from elimination what a team. Habs, Rangers won't stand a chance against either one -

Kings, Blues and Bruins are showing the rest of the NHL how to build a team. Man that Kopitar guy has really emerged during the last years what a beast -
Makes sense two friends retiring at the same time, wish he wouldn't have played as good as he did especially against us nonetheless I have nothing bad to say about him enjoy your retirement Jiggy. Must be nice being able to retire at your mid 30s or early 40s and never having to worry about money again *lol*
-
Happy for him great coach but man that GM hiring, how can you hire such a green guy when top guys like Shero, Fenton are available?
-
Wow nice seeing european supporters style is getting a foot into the US culture now, the atmosphere will benefit a lot from things like this :-) But if Seattle is really a badwagon market boy giving them an expansion team would not be a good idea, if they aren't doing well = low attendance ? I think relocation to Quebec and if it needs to be another american city Seattle would be the better way to go. As always it all starts at the top if they can get Paul Allen involved then sure, because money won't ever be an issue then.

Blues re-sign Elliott, announce Miller won't be back
frankgrimes replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
That's really disturbing if the Pens are doing this right, they could improve their goaltending, trainers (next year ) on top of having two superstars not exactly good for us. The thought of them getting Miller and next year maybe the best coach in hockey is downright scary -
Rather trade for Luke Schenn, who seems to be getting bigger and stronger every season. Guy is an extremely hard worker and trains with Shea Weber. Boyle from 2 - 3 years ago sure but right now no thanks.
