ECF : (5) New York Rangers vs. (4) Les Canadiens de Montréal
frankgrimes replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Prust should have gotten at least 4 games - I love his attitude - but the hit was late and he totally blindsided Stepan. Carcillo is what he is an agitator, who isn't fighting anymore a Prust Carcillo scrap was something I've been looking forward to in this series. -
Blues re-sign Elliott, announce Miller won't be back
frankgrimes replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
I know Miller didn't have good playoffs by his standards but him being a backup ? Oh my god I think people are really starting to underrate the guy, he will gezt a starting job easily somewhere *cough* Vancouver *coughs* and I think Miller could be a great mentor for a guy like Lack, who was clearly fed to the wolves by their former coach/gm duo. The monster/Howard duo should be far down the list, #1 needs to be defense #2 character, qualityguys and a more rugged gritty type of style for the third and fourth line. -
Bettman getting a raise (again) 8 - 8,3 million in 2012 - 2013
frankgrimes posted a topic in General
http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2013/09/03/bettman-made-around-8-3-million-in-2011-12/ It's a f....cking shame the guy is making than 90 % of the players, responsible for failed franchises, 3 lockouts in a row and the reason teams like this can't ice the best possible roster. How can owners justify around 270k/franchise for this guy? Absolutely hilarious, give a hockeyguy the job! -

Hockey is a teamgame you can have two superstars and still need others to show up and play hard, otherwise you won't win see Crosby and Malkin in Pittsburgh. He is known as the king because Lundqvist has by far been the most consistent and reliable goalie for the last decade without him the Rangers won't make the playoffs. The King could play perfect each game but if his team doesn't score it wouldn't matter and that's exactly why hockey is so great the TEAM needs to show up. Whoever is coming out of the west will be the heavvy favorite that's for sure. -

What do you expect from this coach? He I'd just extremely cocky and acts like his never wrong -
No thanks the guy is a DB and can't do anything without Malling Crosby

He certainly wasn't the reason why the Blues lost but didn't help either I don't think the Ducks are going to be too high on him, Sharks are making a lot sense and Vancouver could certainly need a veteran goaltender -
Ovechkin taken from arena in ambulance at World Championships
frankgrimes replied to Jersey Wing's topic in General
Good I always hate it when player are getting injured in meaningless tournaments when all they are doing is playing with pride for their country, just sucks. -
The problem with that is you can fill most spots with good drafting and developing - which the Wings are obviously doing - but replacing Datsyuk and Zetterberg ? Oh boy that's a huge task we are talking about two allstars with an almost perfect 200ft game and on top of that Holland would have to do it with high picks not an easy task at all. I love the way Tatar, Nyquist, Dekeyser, Sheahan and even Jurco are progressing but I'm not expecting either them to become stars and for sure not allstars. The good thing is, Chicago will soon have to raise Seabrook, Toews and Kane in the same year and they won't have enough cap to do it so I know a lot of people don't like him but I would welcome Toews with open arms on this team.

Well with the Canucks doing a sweep (firing Gillis and Tortarella) Kesler might not even be willing to waive his NTC anymore. But man Vancouver is one of the top 3 pressure markets.
-
Make no mistake we would be acting the same way, if rumors such as Minnesotta can't afford Suter any longer would come out. That's the luxury the media and we as fans have, GMs and owners can't act like that because they need to improve their product now. Does it help the Penguins if Babcock becomes next year available ? Not now. But yeah he is and always will be a great coach no matter what he does but I know one thing for sure, playing against a top contender coached by Babock is like playing Team Canada light = for sure not something I'd be looking forward to as an opponent.

It would hurt the Leafs corporation structure for sure but that's a good thing for fans => more competition = lower prices for fans and less suits buying tickets just to be at the rink. so of course Rogers/Bell and MLSE would never allow it but for the fans it would be great. I believe Hamilton could be the little brother like you said with all the blue collar hockey and fans, where the Leafs are the suits/business first juggernut.

WCF: (6) California Dreamin' v (5) The Night Chicago Died
frankgrimes replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
I have no problem with letting a lot go if it goes both ways but the Hawks are always getting away with stuff. Despite all that the Kings played well if they keep this up they should win game 2 My biggest concern is that the winner will likely win the Stanley Cup no way the Rangers, Habs are going to beat eithter of these juggernuts -
I agree with that I think if he can reach 20 - 25 goals that would be great, expectations are already through the roof for him and just because of one hot streak (every player goes through that) If we could get a legit top pairing defenseman for him I'd do that trade everytime.
-
Alain Vigeneault has one thing no other has: Henrik Lundqvist just ask Crosby what this guy can do when he feels it Michel Therrien: for whatever reason the Habs are always playing very well against Boston but is he a great coach ? Far from it, the guy trashtalked about his whole team in Pittsburgh you don#t do something like that What has Babcock left to proof ? - back to back gold medals and one of them on difficult big ice conditions - Stanley Cup with the Red Wings, Stanley Cup Finals 2009 - got an injury rattled and star deploited roster into the playoffs two times in a row - winnigest coach in Red Wings history No matter what other people think, the guy is a winner and he has done it all. No matter if he stays or goes I will always hold him in such high regards. Babcock could go to St. Louis, Pittsburgh...it's not just coincidence that some GM's have only given out 1 year contracts. I'm not basing this on any "sources" just adding 1 + 1 up. A challenge also means getting a cup worthy roster to play for the cup and in the best case winning it, just ask the Blues how hard that is.
-
Exactly an expansion "draft" is bad for every team involved and doesn't do the new ones any favors they are basically getting leftovers and players who don't want to be there in the first place. Seattle may be a big market but are they a big hockey market where the owners are willing to invest into an NHL club WITHOUT the NBA being #1 priority ? Also I'm starting to question the BOG more and more, guys like Dolan, Mr. I, Pegula should be part of it. I mean first the sellout to a piss poor quality product = sportsnet for 12 years and now favoring Seattle over Quebec ? Something doesn't add up Also Seattle is very close to Vancouver I guess most NHL fans there are already fans of the Canucks.

Seriously f*** the Hawks they are getting all the breaks despite playing well, Kings are going to come back hard in the second ! -
Jup and that is why Pittsburgh would make sense, he has a prime Crosby, Malkin plus Letang and that Maataa kid and on top of that he won't be under the microscope like in Toronto. Everyone knows if Babs wanted to stay longer he would have signed an extension, will be a sad day when he leaves can't replace greatness. The only plus side will be Blashill knowing most of the young kids on this team and might grow into the role like the team does.
-
Babcock is the best coach in hockey for sure he won't be around for what looks to be some heavy rebuilding/tooling when contenders are going to offer him a lot of money and the chance to coach some young superstars.
-
Agreed new GMs often like to sweep it clean, there is no way Bylsma will coach Pittsburgh next season so why not can him and let him explore other offers, as long asa they are open?

Here is a very interview with Lemieux and Burkle http://blog.triblive.com/dejan-kovacevic/2014/05/16/exclusive-interview-mario-lemieux-ron-burkle/ Well Lemieux the Penguins lacked grit because your GM send one of the absolute best guys down and then on waivers, nobody would be looking at Crosby or Malkin with MacIntyre in the lineup. Pittsburgh - like most teams - really needs some a big bodied powerforward someone to create room for their stars and can drop the gloves.

Go Kings, what a team wow. Hoping for a Rangers - Kings final -
Only if they add a first and Letang but might still need Maataa too so...
