Boyle doesn't fill that need if he did the Sharks wouldn't have let him go simple as that. Also we need to stop dreaming about another one being able to do what Lidstrom did, it won't happen Niskanen will be the best bet in terms of PP QB abilities and even then I'm not expecting flawless Lidström like play from him either ..

ECSF : (4) Montreal Canadiens vs. (1) Boston Bruins
frankgrimes replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Well the scouting reports on Lucic where about him not being an NHL type skater *lol* He is just like a tank they need a bit to get going but once they are in full force mode you can't stop them -
Shero's downfall: - Morrow for Morrow - connecting his own future with Bylsma's i.e not firing him last year - not able to find a Winger for sid the kid since forever - gave up on all the toughness the Pens once had i.e sending BigMac down then on waivers so no protection for Sid and Malkin - trading away the future for over the hill or injury prone players - no buying out Fleury All that aside I'm willing to bet the guy has already other VPs lining up to sign him.

This screams Linden Tortarella Bylsma is for sure gone troops Sheri to Vancouver would make a lot of sense
-
Better place to discuss this would be here http://www.letsgowings.com/forums/forum/2-trade-rumors-free-agent-talk/ and no I don't want him, he was a complete no factor for the Sharks when they needed him the most some years ago ? For sure right now no.

ECF : (5) New York Rangers vs. (4) Les Canadiens de Montréal
frankgrimes replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Same here given that the East has been a two horse race all year this ECF is very surprising. Compared to the west where the only real surprise is St. Louis losing early other than that most expect the Kings, Hawks, and maybe Sharks to go a long way. The Ducks are a bit of a surprise to me Gibson is playing out of his mind the guy has icecold veins wow. -

Like I said, the only thing having an effect on how Marchand plays, acts will be if Chara, Lucic, McQuaid or Thornton are getting sick of protecting him OR if he gets traded to a not so tough team. The thugleague is a synonym for the NBA it was born after two teams fought each other and then went on to fight with the fans in the stands but my reference was to over the top celebrations they are known from soccer, NBA and NFL and I absolutely hate them, if the best players in the world (Crosby, Stamkos, Toews, Datsyuk) can celebrate and still not go over the top other should be able to do the same without acting like complete showboaters. Well if you've seen him dive then ok, but personally I didn't recall him as a diver more as a guy who lays it all out each shift. Whatever the series is done now and with another surprise, this playoffs really are unpredictable this year. -

Marchand is a rat, cocky, idiot and I've loved the way Thornton told him to shut up and take a seat. Like I said Lucid out of control can be a dirty player but he is not arrogant, cocky or acting like wannabe tough guy. Boychuck dives? This is a guy who will block a slapshot just to block another one even if his hand is shattered in other words an absolute tank, safe for Prust and Parros and Murray habs don't have anything close to it. So yeah my point is overall the Bruins are full of classy character guys they just won't accept be from anyone something the Wings have lost since the Dmac, Downey days. look at Subbans celebrations, his big mouth interviews superstar Eller saying the Oilers are an ahl team...Cherry ripped Ovechkin pretty good for his absolute disgraceful stick on fire dance add to that his golden laces - Guy is getting his deserved flack - too. Some players just don't know how the approach the game the right way this isn't soccer nor the thugleague people expect and appreciate class in hockey. -
Um 7 mill over 3 years is 2,333 each something I'd easily pay for him

Well Marchand of course is a SOB and the only reason he can act so "tough" are Lucic, Thornton, Chara and McQuaid he would not act like that on a Wings team or maybe he would and get his ass handed to him, can't stand him. Lucic can be out of control yes but he doesn't come off nearly as arrogant. Thornton is a leader and probably the toughest guy on an already insane roster I would LOVE to have someone like him, guy is far from being a sob or arrogant. -
I like this a lot get him, sign Colton Orr or Frazer McLaren in the offseason because the Wings might not be willing to keep both. Also personally I think overpaying for Niskanen wouldn't be a bad thing, the guy had stretches where he was better than Letang.

Vanek, Eller, Weise and Subban and Therrien - the guy who calls out his players through the press... - are playing for the Canadiens last time I checked... -
Plus they would have instant re-rivalry with the Canadiens. From all points it should be a nobrainer and that's probably why the NHL front office is favoring gambles on other cities. Hamilton would have the rivalry with the Leafs and for sure cheaper ticket prices but could also draw from some disgruntled Leafsfans who are fed up with the suit atmosphere and paying a premium for a lackluster team.

Babcock to the Penguins ? Well sadly that would make too much sense just look at what he did with a bunch of superstars - including Sid the kid - everyone of them commited to a defensive system and was willing to sacrifice their own points for that. If Babs can do that in Pittsburgh watch out Also I would totally understand it if Babs is looking elsewhere, the guy is as competitive as it gets he wants another cup and knows full well that the Wings are a few years away from being a contender again.

scenario: if McLellan gets fired, bring him back as PP coach ?

There will be a lot of blame going around in San Jose but McLellan is a good coach and I truely believe he could help our PP a lot. I'm sure he enjoyed working under the best coach in hockey so the question is would you want him back ? -

WCSF : (7) Minnesota vs. (5) Chicago Blackhawks
frankgrimes replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Agreed they are both really good players but it's hard to say if we have seen the best of Kane, Kessel already or not. I guess I'm just more impressed with Kessel because of how much less help he has compared to Kane. The good thing is, the Ducks/Kings are exactly built in a way to beat the Blackhawks. Especially the Kings can shutdown everyone and when Quick is on you can't beat him as seen yesterday :-) -

frankgrimes replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Yeah I'm a bit pissed had a good amount of money on the Bruins because they looked just too good to be true so yeah. Well I've watched the game till the second goal and knew Montreal would win by that point, so I've switched to the LA/Ducks game and enjoyed watching that. -
I still consider him one of the best but he really traded away a ton of their future last year, Morrow for Morrow was bad back then and it still is but the guy got Iginla for basically nothing it is not Shero's fault that Bylsma absolutely used him on the wrong side. I think they are giving him another year if Shero fails again, he will be gone next year. Trotz is exactly what Pittsburgh needs and the guy commands respect from everyone, he is a no bs type of guy.

frankgrimes replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
God the media is awful what do you want Lucic to say after asking him the same damn question 100 times ? Personally I would have told them we lost, it sucks and see you guys next year. Standing there over 120 seconds and repeating the same reply over and over again is not worth it. I can understand his frustrations it always sucks when the better loses against a bunch of *******, divers and arrogant SOBs guess it's go Rangers Ducks/Kings now. -
Iggy wants and deserves a cup and this team is miles away of being a cup contender, so the answer is no.
-
Bylsma can't adjust his strategy it's obvious happened with the Penguins and team USA before Sheri traded away a lot of the Pens future and if the rumors are true Crosby is fed up with Bylsma do that screams firing. I am sure the Capitals and Canucks would be all over him Trotz would be a good choice for the Pens but they also need s team commitment to defense

Handshakes suck anyways these two teams hate each other, personally I would have just gone into the locker room and be done with it.
