ECSF : (4) Montreal Canadiens vs. (1) Boston Bruins
frankgrimes replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Turning this ******* game off now -
Winnipeg comes to mind and sometimes getting back a former ex gf turns out to be the best decision ever. Giving Quebec back what belongs to them is only fair and easier than trying to build another fanbase almost from scratch
-
That's a very good point and I agree if there's a us city which could pull it off it might be Seattle especially if Paul Allen invests as a majority owner but it would still be far from a slamdunk like Quebec and the return of the Nordics

Sums up my feelings and I can't wait for this game should be one for the ages. Sadly also the last tsn games for a long time. I'd add Prust tough as nails and can contribute -
I understand that but the problem is: not enough people - including media - are willing to get into hockey or embrase it = less merchandise sale than say in Canada. Seattle only wants the NHL as an after thought and we all know how that turned out. Dallas at least has some fans showing up when the team does well = competing in the playoffs. but the truth is, some markets aren't just made for hockey no matter how big their population is. Canadian teams should boycott revenue sharing till the NHL front office is giving them more teams, Seattle would start with no fans at all, in a non hockey market AND with the NHL being an after thought to me that's a disaster waiting to happen.

Exactly and the thing is most of these high capacity by tax payers money built arenas aren't even at full 70 % capacity. Personally I'd tell them you guys have had enough time to build and invest into this franchise you didn't, so back t Canada we go. As an investor you want to make money the right way and not by ripping tax payers off or try to build a hockey market somewhere where people couldn't care less!

Agreed and hopefully the final nail in his coffin. Seattle would be an absolute horrible idea, the league seems to like problem childs and non hockey places.

WCSF : (7) Minnesota vs. (5) Chicago Blackhawks

I think Kessel is still better, he just doesn't have much help. The Hawks are again starting to worry me bit, now with Crawford playing better and better plus their top guys coming up big, Anaheim/LA better eliminate them. -
Sounds like a very familar story that didn't end well at all.

I never understood this argument because a large arena does nothing if you can't fill it. So yes, Winnipeg has only 15.000 seats but it's sold out every game other teams have bigger arenas but fail to even reach the 12.000 mark.

King H is on tonight wow but the Rangers are sitting back way too soon -
Easily understandable, the team is owned by two absolute horrible organizations the fans are massive but also feature a massive amount of roudy armchair GMs, people playing for the Leafs don't have lots of privacy whenever they decide to go out. As for investing I fully agree, I would want to invest my money into a hockeytown not into some suit driven desert or non hockey-climate where teams can't even survive with revenue sharing.

Why not ? Just because they - deservingly - beat the Wings ? I love their style, blue collar attitude and of course character combined with toughness and despite Marchand they don't have any rats like Eller, Subban on their team. Also keep one thing in mind: The Bruins have a much better chance of beating the Penguins than the Habs could ever dream off. -
I think want out because of the constant scrutiny and no privacy. Most hockeyplayers can afford to have two houses, so its easy to buy one for the winter and one for the summer

I highly doubt Lundy cares at all 5k for him is one less Armani suit per day he can easily afford it. Crosby and the pens are going to have a long summer to think about that stuff We could be looking at an original 6 ecf this year -

Bruins are going to win game 7 and I love the way how they are sending a message. That was easily their worst playoff game in along time won't happen again. -
That is a great point, Babcock and every other GM in this league knows exactly how things are: Twitter Babcock is available --> his phone rinks nonstop I also believe he wants to see where this team is going, before deciding his future. I mean think about it, he is the winningest coach in the history of this great franchise, nothing left to proof if he one day decides to go to a contender fine and right now nobody knows how Blashill will do in the NHL *couch* Eakins *cough*

WCSF : (6) Los Angeles Cartmans vs. (1) Coach Bombay and the Quacks

I'm not saying he will be the starter or great at the moment, guy for sure needs more time in the AHL. Boudreaus is playing a difficult game here, if Gibson gets blown out today does he go back to Hiller or Anderson ? -

I'm sure Lundqvist doesn't care much, 5.000 $ for someone like him is nothing. Sid the kid gets away with a spear what else is new guy can do whatever he wants and will never get a fine. Go king H and Rangers send the crybabies home! -
What's wrong with Saskatoon ? If you are a hockeyplayer you for sure expect to play in a hockey-climate. The thing with Pronger is purely on the Oilers, he made it known from the start that he nor his - at that time girlfriend - didn't want to go there and they drafted him anyway, so their fault not his. Winnipeg has one - if not the smallest - building in the NHL and yet it's sold out every time, I could see something like this working for Saskatoon, Hamilton and obviously Quebec. The thing with Vegas is, the BOG could be crazy enough to be in favor of such a stupid move. Hamilton, Quebec would for sure be slamdunks but Vegas a disaster waiting to happen.

So the fat lady did sing go for it big bad bear -
I know how it works but at the end of the day, I don't have to like it. Like I said nothing against the loyal fans there I am sure being a hockeyfan is extremely difficult in such markets so they have my utmost respect. That being said if not enough people are showing up what can you do? It's really funny a league which can't support their current teams is talking about expansion when they really should be talking about relocation I could easily see them trying a failure like Vegas....
-
I think Quebec, Hamilton and Saskatoon would be no brainers, people in Canada are hockey-crazy. Also a more affordable priced team near the Leafs would be a very good thing and that's why Bell and Rogers would fight hard against it. I mean a 13 - 14.000 arena should be decently filled as long as there is a team to cheer for. It doesn't matter what I want but i think it's been clear that the league can't support 30 teams so why even talk about 32 teams ? I'm also not saying the Wings should get any favors all I'm saying is I don't think it's fair to support other teams so they - in return - can become more competitive without getting any advantages out of it. In Baseball you can go over the cap but all that money goes to the small franchises, that's a good system.
