Hurricanes Coach and Assistants Fired - Rod Brind'Amour to remain
frankgrimes replied to Rivalred's topic in General
The guy will not have any problems man lots of teams are firing their coaches Carlyle next in line? -
Drafting bigger was needed I also like the fact that the Wings are drafting less soft euros and more hardnosed NA guys. If we now apply this strategy to Ufa, trade deadline days the team would benefit greatly. That being said Callahan is looking at mid to north of million long-term and I don't think he is worth it.

WCSF : (7) Minnesota vs. (5) Chicago Blackhawks
frankgrimes replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Did the Wings tank for years? No they didn't sure every gets a high pick once in a while but Pittsburgh got the nest player in the world followed by another superstar then Fleury, Staal Jordan Burke said it best the Pittsburgh, Hawks model ie being bad for an extended amount of time and draft superstars. So exactly what teams like Buffalo are doing now to get make McDavid and I don't blame them he will be the next superstar but if they are still bad in 3 years yeah then Pittsburgh model all over. Anyway sadly the Wild have no chance this matchup sucks for them -

You can not trade coaches in the NHL and no, you can't trade GMs either -
WCSF : (6) Los Angeles Cartmans vs. (1) Coach Bombay and the Quacks

The battle between those two is great I'm already loving this series. -
I'm sure he would prefer some known hockeycrazy cities such as Las Vegas *lol* I also don't think expansion will happen soon but some teams are going to relocate. Although the Panthers have an almost forever lease wit the arena so that would require a huge buyout.

It is stupid, coaches more than players need the security and players - like everyone else - need time to adjust to different systems/coaches. Trading coaches would be an absolute nightmare. -
The problem with Kassian is this, he is a lose cannon and has a very bad attitude, i.e taunting the Calgary bench or Edmonton after injuring one of their players AND declining to fight Gazdic. Boone Jenner right now may be close to untouchable for the Bluejackets but I think a guy like Bollig would be a nice addition. Wings need to create a fourth line from hell one that is respected by 'Boston, Toronto, Calgary but if we add Bollig we need to add some heavyweights to so he can do his hitting without having to fight the likes of Orr, Lucic, Chara... I like Maroon and him best on this list, well done

Na this is tank to win the so called "Penguins model" -
Florida willing to trade first overall pick.
frankgrimes replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
Agreed I think team Canada with all their talent level did not play that well but Ekblad was almost mistake free. If Florida accepts Yakupov + Edm 3rd that's a steal for Edmonton, Yakupov is poison and has KHL written all over him. -

frankgrimes replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
Ekblad gets compared to Weber and this is just Gallon playing mind games with the Oilers and Sabres. They have problems because not enough people there care for hockey, the team sucks and the taxpayers are sick of paying for that team. Anyway if I'm Mactavish I'd send them yakupov and my first round pick in a take it or leave it deal. -
I think at some point people will have to accept the new caphits thanks to the new CBA. The days of guys like Niskanen taking discounts to come here are gone, 5,5 annually is a bit of an overpayment for a top 4 guy yeah but at the end of the day you have to overpay to get the players you want. Niskanen would be a tremendous help and could give our blueline a much needed different look next season. I know people are thrilled with all the talent on the backend but at the end of the day we all know not all of them are gonna make it, so why not use only cash for Niskanen and use some of the higher upside prospects to get a big bodied forward ?

ECSF : (4) Montreal Canadiens vs. (1) Boston Bruins
frankgrimes replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Yeah two differences in game 1: Rask for his standards only mediocre and Price playing out of his world (he is not that good). The only team which should have at least a change are the Kings but their schedule is tough after the Wild Hawks and then Boston... -

Well I consider myself politcally uninterested and firmly in the middle ground (not left, not right) but I will say this: riot = destroying other property piss....g at your city is one of the worst things a fanbase can do. So speaking of rules I guess if have my "own" definition of whats worse than other things and what isn't. For me the series comes down to a few facts: a hardnosed blue collar original 6 team with a lot of likable players versus a very entitled one with two of the biggest and most arrogant players this game has ever seen and a very soccerlike playstyle (divers) so the choice is easy here. I truely believe some Wings fans are still pissed that Boston manhandled us so easily -

Montreal better starts moving their feet and tighten up defensively otherwise the Bruins are easily taking over and I can't wait for that. Bunch of divers, whiners and showboaters. Also *lol* at everyone thinking that a whole fanbase can have no bad apples, newsflash every fanbase does and always will. The Habs fanbase is known for hating Anglos lifing in Montreal, Quebec AND for rioting after a win so that's disgusting. -

Would have coached this team into the playoffs too ? Honestly NON COACHES can't coach and especially at the elite level. People - including me - were laughing at Canada playing without hockey gear but the players took advantage of it. The only thing I would bet my house on: IF Babcock someday decides it's time to move on he will be the shortest unemployed coach ever. -

The Hawks also played an injured Blues team with an average at best Miller, the won't have that luxury against the Kings. -
Niskanen would be acquired to become a top 4 addition, our best D man is Kronwall but I think Matt could do a better job with playing PP QB and Kronwall could finally focus on Kronwalling and shutting down other players again.
-
I don't understand it either, yes those two are the two best players in the world but it's not like other sports where superstars don't need the team. It all starts with a transistioning game and Niskanen, Letang are very good at that this has almost nothing to do with the two superstars.

Haven't changed my mind about him, Eller, Kadri and Yakupov and never will. NBA, soccer attitudes don't fly in hockey most players get it others for whatever reason don't. This game was basically the Wings Bruins game #1 just with more scoring, only difference like RUS mentioned was Price playing out of his mind he won't keep that up. btw. if people think the Bruins fans are arrogant, Blackhawks boards are already talking about the SCF that's just a whole other level of being cocky. God, I hope the Kings sweep them. -
Jaroslav Halak's negotiating rights traded to Islanders.
frankgrimes replied to DSM's topic in General
Ah thanks that makes a bit more sense that way but if I'm Halak I'd be looking at a starting job somewhere else (Canucks could be looking for a veteran). It pains me to say I really like JT, Bailey, Okposo, Grabner aso. but with their current ownership/GM structure they are going nowhere and of course the fans deserve MUCH better. Goes to show you, how it all starts at the top. -
Boston is not letting this kid go http://capgeek.com/player/2188 Chiarelli is a top GM for a reason

Boychuck = Truck on skates -
I would certainly be ok with paying him 5,5+ for 6 - 7 years. The Wings blue line needs help, he may not be elite but by far the best UFA option outthere. Yes they Pens have some capspace but the new contracts for Letang and Malkin are also kicking in. With the cap rising and rising who knows if Burkle and Mario will still spend to the cap that's a huge advantage for us we have the best owner in the sport and will always spend to the cap no matter how high it is.
