ECSF : (4) Montreal Canadiens vs. (1) Boston Bruins

It's just game 1 the Bruins are always starting slow, so I'm not worried. They are going to destroy the Habs soon enough

    Tortorella To Be Fired

The guy should take a break and work for the TSN panel his coaching style and fiery attitude just don't mesh well Really playing your top line over 20 minutes every night and letting them do the shotblocks wrong hire from the start. I guess Trotz will be numero in on that list.
  3. Snow being Snow could have waited and ask him for nothing. Why would Halak play for that team? The owner is as cheap as it gets and the GM has a shoestring cap to work with

Will Mantha join GR after the QMJHL playoffs?

Agreed, there is absolutely no point in rushing this kid I still believe he will turn out as a steal in this draft but it takes time. Let him turn PRO learn all the inns and outs and bring him up when Blas and Babs are saying he is ready not before.

WCQF - Series H - San Jose versus Los Angeles

You may be right but I could see them pressing the panick button and look for offers, Thornton and Marleau won't net them a grandslam like return. Vlasic, Couture would do so.

Wings will buy out Tootoo, not Franzen.

I see absolutely no problem with the bolded part, maybe he needs/wants a change of scenery and the Wings could use the money to bring in defensive and offensive stogap help. Win-win for both

    Next Seasons Needs/Team Future

Like I said in the San Jose thread VLASIC please the guy makes our defense d-core instantly better. Pavelski would be a nice choice also but I don't think he will be available

WCSF : (7) Minnesota vs. (5) Chicago Blackhawks

Don't worry Kings are going to hand them their asses

Wings will buy out Tootoo, not Franzen.

good god can't people handle their disagreements via private messages ? I think it's a wasted buyout simple as that, Tootoo's salary doesn't hurt that much so you could easily use a normal buyout on him. The Mule is what he is he will not get better and certainly not be playing out his full contract so this could backfire badly for us.

    Chicago in 5 sadly

WCQF - Series H - San Jose versus Los Angeles

If I'm Holland my first task would be speed dialing Wilson and asking for Vlasic The Kings are looking very similar to the 2012 one destinated for greatness, wow. LOL at the crowd giving it to the team but damn there was a serious blond hotty in the stands wow.

So the only challenge left for the damn Hawks are the Kings Usually I would have said Congrats but the Wild Cooke d this series so meh

    Tortorella To Be Fired

He was the wrong coach from the get go and I highly doubt he will find another job soon, given his way of handling players and his overall antics I think they are going to look hard at McLellan

WCQF - Series H - San Jose versus Los Angeles

Shortest, funniest and by far the most accurate in the game San Jose is playing this a bit too wide open for my liking, Kings are looking more composed so far
  18. Same here a business owner doesn't have to sell to everybody he has the right to choose his customers. Maybe not the smartest business decision by teams like Nashville but I understand their reasoning behind it.
  19. frankgrimes

    What is more important?

Well just as a starting point but I really don't believe they would be that stupid. Their defense is awesome and cheap goaltending help in form of Allen is on the way. I guess their biggest need is goalscoring
  20. And people think this guy is going to win such a lawsuit ? It's not a violation it's called making use of your "my home - YOU out" right. The NFL and other lawyers will just bring up the analogies to neighbour rights, properties and other stuff. Every owner has the right to decline others the usage of his property, if you don't want to sell to people from a certain ZIP code, location whatever nobody can force you to do so. None the less will be an interesting precedent for sure. I mean aren't the Predators doing something similar against the Blackhawks ?

    Ken Holland Quotes (Apr 29th

Seriously this is one - if not the best - end of season interview I've listened from him in a loooong time. Holland wanting to watch even more from Boston is a great thing, a lot of teams can learn a lot from that almost perfect team. You can tell he is pissed but Holland really makes a lot of good points when it comes down to the development of our young guys fans and the media would absolutely label Mrazek a bust if he craps the bed for 10 games..Let the kids develop in the AHL and bring them up, when Blashill and Babcock are saying they are ready. That was my biggest complaint with the Cleary signing the guy blocked a spot for Nyquist. The best example to me is Jake Gardiner, some Leaffans had NORRIS! threads about this kid two years ago and now they want to trade him, no need to put young 20 year olds - non exceptional players - through this kind of crap. I also appreciate his honesty about Weiss, the guy has to hit the gym like crazy maybe even 5 - 6 times a week just to make up for that 18 months span and personally I really don't know what to expect from this guy anymore, so hopefully our FO will keep in touch with him over the summer. It's true the Wings are starting to draft bigger and I absolutely love it but some bigger bodies are needed right now and they are available for cheap, tough fourth line guys are making around 750 - 1.000 k that's nothing compared to average NHL salaries. Don't know but after listening to Babcock, Zetterberg and now even Holland I really believe them getting antsy could lead to a better future.

    Next Seasons Needs/Team Future

    1. I think the Blackhawks are some sort of an anomaly their upfront firepower is ridiculous Toews, Kane, Sharp, Hossa and now they have this Tervainen kid waiting, add to that Keith and Seabrook as a top pairing and that's a lot of skill but guys like Toews, Hossa and especially Seabrook are far from being undersized so it's not like they can't bring a heavier game too. And then they have this guy Bickell guy I don't know how he does it but he has that Penner drama he always turn it on in the playfofs - and trust me I hate seeing this team being succesful - but they do have some grit, although Boston would slaughter them this year so that would be nice to see. Compared to teams like LA, Boston Chicago has more scoring and their top pairing is at least equal, when it comes down to goaltending it's not even a question Quick, Rask destroy Crawford without blinking an eye. LA and Boston may not have that upfront firepower but they can play a heavier game than Chicago and shut them down. I think comparing the Wings to either of these teams wouldn't be fair but the point I'm trying to make is this: Detroit doesn't have the upfront firepower anymore, the defense is a mess and goaltending is incosistent AND the current structured team can't play a heavier game, because well they just don't have the players to do it. And it's highly unlikely one of these 3 juggernauts will slow down in the near future, so if the Wings want the cup the road will be blocked by Boston. There needs to be more of a balanced approach , because two things are for sure: we can't do anything about the goaltending nor match Chicagos upfront starpower but the defense can be improved and the team structured to at least bring a heavier game. I know what you mean and I'm not saying these things because it's the flavour of the year no, like some other Wingsfans I've had this fear since we lost Downey and Dmac. Let's say Montreal, Colorado or another non-gritty team wins the cup this year it wouldn't change my point of view. 2. You are right about Shero and it will be interesting how he does when Crosby and Malkin are starting to slow down (yes Pensfans it will happen at some point !), but Lombardi didn't do it by tanking yes they've got Doughty but he also made some smart trades to get Richards, Carter and extend Quick to a steallike contract. Chiarelli took over the Bruins back when they were a mess he wanted them to play a different brand of hoceky and form the team that wa and dare I say it basically robbed Chara from Ottawa. I've mentioned Poile because I think he would be a really great GM if he had a budget to work with that Erat > Forsberg trade really cemented him as one of the top GMs.

    Ken Holland Quotes (Apr 29th

Basically yes but Blashill said he wants to coach another season in the AHL and the FO is happy with him. Conversations would then be like this: other GM: Hello Mr. Holland can I please get your permission to talk to your AHL coach ? Holland: Sure thing, number... other GM: Hello Mr. Blashill you've done a great job in the AHL and paid your dues would you like to come up and sign with us ? Blashill: Sorry, I like my job here and don't feel I'm ready. other GM: but b....but This way there is no grey area, Blashill can focus on his AHL job and other teams know he doesn't want to leave, so no reason for granting them permission. In the last years Detroit has been one of the teams, which always allowed others to talk to their FO stuff (McLellan, Yzerman, Nill, MacLean..). So it's not like the Wings are against it, Holland just sees no reason and it seems like Blashill wants to stay where he is so a no brainer.

WCQF - Series H - San Jose versus Los Angeles

Quick has allowed 4 goals in 3 games that's 0,75 GAA unbelievable how good he is when he is on. This series is just all sorts of crazy and I love it although the 2:1 should have never counted. If they fire McLellan bring him back as the PP coach, the guy knows how to run it.

    Ken Holland Quotes (Apr 29th

u o That Babcock quote is exactly what I've been fearing for a long time. The guy - and who can blame him - may not want to go through some tough rebuilding years or just hope to make the playoffs. Maybe it's coincidence but him not being dedicated to talk extension this summer and other teams not getting permission to talk to Blashill doesn't exactly point a contract extension for the best coach in hockey but man I wouldn't wanzt to face a Babock coached team, he may go away from the game for 1 - 2 years and then decide to come back as for Mule well it's going to be the last opportunity anyways that combined with the Weiss deal could really hurt this franchise for a long time. With the way Franzen is going through the motions I really don't see him playing out his contract and then the recapture will kick in so this is a gamble I would not be willing to take. Yeah buying out Tootoo who has one year remaining on his contract and provides at least some sort of protection for the GR is a great move. In Mantha's case all I can hope for is that they don't rush him let him pay his dues in the AHL, bulk up even more and come up when he is fully ready not before it.
